This was our first trip to Disney in Florida and we had such a great time!!

There was bad and good, but fortunately the good outweighed the bad. ;-)

As we were flying in, my 5 yr old started crying that his ear hurt. After we landed it just got worse and worse and within a few hours he was screaming in pain. He's not a dramatic kid at all so I knew it was bad. I did some scrambling, got ahold of our family doctor back home and got him to call in an antibiotic rx to a 24 hour Walgreen's pharmacy near the resort. We got him started on it right away and by the next morning the pain was gone, but his ear was still very tender. That was a rough start, to say the least! The first day was shot.

10 month old baby decided to go on a nursing strike. I've heard about these, but never experienced one for myself and it was not fun. I have no idea why he did it, or what to do about it but being on vacation with no pump was not the time or place for it. I think we spent about 6 of our 11 nights with him screaming until he fell asleep at 3 or so in the morning. I'm sure our hotel neighbors hated us. :( I'd take him out for walks around the resort in the middle of the night sometimes, just to try to calm him down.

The good - :)

Nice pictures. We went in 2005, and I wondered all the way there why my dd11months was so well behaved on the plane, well it was because she was sick......... the next day she was so bad we had to go to the ER, she had an ear infection and a throat infection. I've never even heard of a throat infection before that day. well 2 days down the drain, but by the third she felt all better. Getting sick on vacation is no fun. i'm glad you had a nice time.

love the pics! your kids are beautiful! thanks for sharing them. So sorry about your ds's ear and the 'strike'. We've been to celebration ER quite a few times during our disney trips - they always just take a peek and give antibiotics. glad the good outweighted the ugly.

:goodvibes Great pictures!!!! I'm glad everything worked out. That is always my fear that one of the kids will get sick while we are there.

Him screaming?! I'd be screaming myself, forget the baby! I hope you got everything back on track. For something that's been going on since humanity began, nursing can be hard!
