We got back last night from our 3 night stay at Santa Fe. Here are our highs & lows:

Highs

Weather - It was so mild compared to last year so it was nice not to be freezing the whole time.

Crowds Monday - Wednesday - Sunday was quite busy but the rest of our stay was quite quiet. Longest queue was for Crush but that was only 20 minutes.

Plaza Gardens Buffet - This wasn't a planned visit but we had lunch there yesterday and the food was fabulous, my favourite meal of the whole visit.

Fantillusion - The look on my dd's face when this was on. She loved it.

Snow - We actually walked down main street as it was "snowing". I'd heard about it but had never seen it before. It was amazing as you just couldn't see where it was coming from.

Ariel & Prince Eric - We were walking through Fantasyland and Ariel & Eric were rushing through (I think on her way to the beginning of Fantillusion and they were being mobbed by children & adults. We walked straight past them and my dd turned around and said "Look Mummy, it's Ariel" They came over and stopped to talk to us for about 3 minutes. It was lovely as we never got to meet any other princesses.

Toy Soldiers in Toy Story Playland - This was hilarious, we watched them for at least 20 minutes. Very very funny.

Lows - Not really lows as nothing major to complain about

Lack of characters - Last year we saw loads of them but this year we didn't see as many at all. On Sunday we didn't see a single character AT ALL in the Disneyland Parc and hardly any in the Studio on Monday.

No Mickey Brioche!!!!! - I can't believe they have stopped selling these. I was really looking forward to my hot chocolate & brioche but they sell a double Mickey cake instead which was like chewing on rubber.

Restaurant Closures - we had planned where we were going to eat but we shouldn't have bothered as most places were closed. Toad Hall, Blockbuster Cafe, Hakuna Matata, Pizzeria Bella Notte.... Very disappointing.

Santa Fe - Not really a low, room was nice but not a lot of space. DH didn't like how basic it was and on our last day we didn't even attempt breakfast as the queue nearly reached the shop! We went to Earl of Sandwich and paid for breakfast instead.

Price of drinks in Disneyland Hotel - we decided to go for a quick drink to see what it was like and I understand that the prices are going to be slightly higher but the hike in prices was ridiculous. A blue glowtini in the Santa Fe was 8.50, DLH it was 16.50!!! And the pianist didn't play one Disney song!

Lack of Christmas decorations in the Studios - Very nice in the front lot but as soon as you got through studio 1 it was as if Christmas didn't exist!

Intrigued....what's on the menu?

We only ate here once years ago, when it was an afternoon tea buffet (all sweet things).

We went last week Thursday to Sunday, big crowds on both w/e days thanks to hopper tickets for 30 Euros! Big queues for everything! Crush borke on Sun morning and BTH out all day Friday.

Salads, soup, snails & mussels for starters.

Beef stew, salmon, steak, roasted ham, paella, chicken, meatballs, vegetables, rice, dauphonoise potatoes, chips, pasta for main.

a huge cheeseboard

pecan pie, coconut tart, apple tart, chocolate mousse, strawberry mousse, various jelly type deserts & loads of fresh fruit.

I just read some reviews of trip advisor and they're all quite bad reviews & I don't understand why! It's the only buffet we've done at DLP so maybe it's not as good as the other ones.

Hiya Stacey!

Mum spent the whole time talking about Plaza gardens but we didn't fancy it - she will quiz you when we see you so thought I'd warn you!

I agree about the lack of characters about and when they did come out they were all at once. In the studios once there was Woody, Jessie and 2 rats out near the Playhouse studio at the same time as Captain Hook and Mr Smee near Crushes. They all left at the same time too!

Can't believe the price of a drink in DLH!!!! Also, what was the Toy Soldiers in playland? Chat soon.

Gutted!!!!

I must admit it was 6.90 euros for a pint at the Hotel New York City Bar, so it doesn't surprise me it's expensive.
Having said that as I rarely go out drinking and I liked it there I was prepared to pay the price.

We are staying at Disneyland Hotel next year and I agree the prices are crazy, it's just getting the balance right between being on holiday and when knowing what is just too much to pay.

There was plenty for the kids to eat there too. Jess had about 3 meatballs, they were nearly the size of her head.

Toy soldiers were 3 soldiers just larking about and getting the children to join in. They were really good though as there were 3 of them it wasn't a mad scrum. I did get some of it on video so will show you when I see you next.

I can't believe this! I was so excited about my first Mickey brioche this year. Oh well. :sad2:

Otherwise it sounds like you had a lovely trip - welcome home!
