We had a wonderful week - I've never been to Mexico before, but I would go back in a heartbeat. We didn't see very much of the country given we were only there for a week, but the Mexicans are so friendly, hardworking and helpful, and from what we saw, it's a beautiful place.
For those that said they were going to the same place (Iberostar Paraiso Lindo in Riviera Maya), the hotel is awesome. I'm a very fussy traveller, but the standards were excellent, and the quality of the hotel is much better than I was expecting.
You get to use the restaurants at the other Iberostars next door, so even on a 2 week trip, you wouldn't get bored. We ate at the Italian, Cajun, Mediterranean and Japanese - all excellent, particularly the Japanese. The breakfasts are fabulous too - tremendous choice, very fresh, but about 3000 calories a go if you have the same willpower as me....
Cancun airport is a lot better than other Caribbean airports we've been to - it could be in America. There is decent shopping and a TGI's for the trip home.
The hotel was about an hour to get to, even though it was maybe only 20 miles away. If you are dropping off at other hotels, they have really long driveways and so take ages to get to. Next time, I would probably get a taxi or prebook private transfers - they were plentiful at the airport.
First Choice were surprisingly good, good food, decent legroom, and the interactive seat back entertainment the best I've experienced (if you're flying economy, you can upgrade for £5, which gives you games, and the ability to start / pause / ff / rewind films as you can on Sky+). Some of the other wedding guests had flown with Thomas Cook and were unimpressed to say the least, the main problem being the very tightly packed seats on an 11 hour flight.
The wedding was beautiful, and I'm just so glad we went! I would recommend it to anyone.
If anyone who is going has any questions, please just let me know

Welcome home Kristie, it sounds like you've had a fantastic time. If you get a chance will you post some piccies ?? ~ please
I am not entirely sure why its just something about the place I loved and Mexico did nothing for me. I wanted to come back home after a week, but we could not get flights back. My dh loved the place he would go back in a heart beat. He didnt like Barbados
. I found Mexico to be overpriced and we did not manage to do much because of the prices when we went. It all started off horribly we flew with JMC who are now Thomas cook airlines. The flight was awful. The plane was a DC10 and the plane was banging and creaking and the turbulence going over Bermuda my word I am a good flyer, but this had me praying all throughout. The seats were old there was no room the flight entertainment was off through most of the flight and it was a 3 4 3. I felt guilty asking the person to move beside my dh as he was sleeping throughout most of the flight and I was sitting thier panicing I needed the loo.

for you to get them up
