We're back! 6 days of rain and extended family 8/17-8/23! updated 9/29, day three!!

TARA! TMI! TMI! I didn't need to read about the spit cup incident! Ick! :scared:

Yes, those Disney Baby Centers are nice, aren't they? Sorry you had to spend time in there, but it was probably a nice break.

Ty is just so stinkin' cute! I can't wait to meet him! :goodvibes

I know!! Way TMI!! :lmao:

But how could I not tell it?? It happened in Disney so it must go in the TR!!! ;)

OMG on the cup mix up - yuck! Funny now I'm sure, but then, probably not so much! Glad you shared though! :goodvibes

I'm glad Ty didn't seem to be scared of the characters! He is adorable.

Looking forward to more!

great day at MK so far!!!! i just love that place. and to be there with your little one for the first time.......:cloud9:

GROSS about sipping ray's spit cup!!!!! my ray dips too but very little - like 1 can a week. he used my car while i was at disney and when i got in there this morning to go to work there was a dasani water bottle with tobacco juice in it. i wouldn't touch it and made him throw it away when he got home today! :rotfl:

It was so gross I found myself laughing...I knew it was bound to happen eventually. :rotfl:

Ray just cut down..he was about 3 cans a week. Now I try to keep him at 1. he was supposed to quit when Ty was born but the new job is ultra-stressful for him so I comprimised. ;)

Same thing happens to me...Ray borrows my car and surprise, I have a nice bottle in it when I get the car back. Yuck!

How old is Ty? He is adorable.

I was afraid that my little one(DS10mth at the time) was going to be afraid too when he had met the characters but he did fine.

My dad always used dip. I wonder if my mom ever did that :rotfl:

Glad you guys had a good first day at MK!

Thanks! :cloud9: Ty was 5 months when we were there. I had hoped he would be ok with the characters since he doesn't have a fear of strangers yet. I wonder if he will still like them at Christmas?

I bet she did.....especially if he used bottles where you can't see what's in them!! :lmao:

Hi Tara! Great update about MK! What fun! I love all the Ty pics too! He is soooo cute! I can't believe it about the cup mix-up! ARRRGGGG something I would probably do too pirate: :sad2: I spent some time in the baby station when I was at Disney with my mom. Sarah was only 8 months old and I needed to heat her bottle. It was soooo nice in there. ;) Oh noooo....I see the plans are about to go awry again......

Thanks for coming over! I have to get moving on this report..we have been turning the "dog room" into Ty's playroom this week and my TR has suffered. Update tonight I promise!

Anyway, Ty had no probs on ANY rides at WDW. In MK we took him on Jungle Cruise, Pirates (where I though the cannons would bother him), Philharmagic, Small World, TTA, Carousel of Progress, Buzz Lightyear and the Country Bears. We would have done more but ran out of time. :goodvibes

Day Three, Part One!

Sorry again for the delay...my TR isn't going to be as great as I had hoped...my details are fading!!! Last year I wrote my TR each night in the hotel. We didn't bring the computer this year. I didn't have time for notes either!!!

Anyway...bring on Hurricane Fay!

The day started our pretty cloudy and windy. Not a ton of rain yet though. We kept our hopes up and started out for DHS. I was super excited to eat at the Sci-Fi Diner with me dad. I had never been and my dad is a HUGE sci-fi fan. Plus, I was really excited to ride TOT of him. I grew up watching the old Twilight Zone episodes with him.

The gloomy day starts...

We got to the park 30m. early and they were already letting people in. I think it was b/c they were anticipating Fay and wanted to give guests as much park time as possible. They also had flyers at the gate stating that they expected the park to run as usual but certain events could close due to the weather.

We headed right over to TOT while I sent DH to get FP's for Toy Story. I had read how fast they run out and wanted to make sure we got to ride at least once today! The wait for TOT was only 5 minutes and RNRC was only 10. As soon as DH caught back up (complaining that he didn't realize TS was soooo far away ;) ) we split up. DH and Stefan stayed back with Ty while my dad, Chris and I headed to the tower!

Disney022.jpg

My dad really enjoyed it..I figured he would. It seemed to drop us a great deal and they turned around and rode it again. I let DH and Stefan ride RNRC while I waited with Ty. We then did another group switch so I could ride RNRC with DH and Stefan. Chris and my dad watched Ty.

Disney023.jpg

It was fun as always but no music!!!!!!!!!!!! :confused3 DH said it had been working fine 5 minutes ago. I can tell you that it makes all the difference on that ride. It's still cool but nothing compared to when Aerosmith is rockin' with you!!!

Stefan and Chris

After the two best rides in the park we decided to head to Star Tours. I was happy to sit this one out since I can take it or leave it. So Ty and I waited under some umbrellas near Backlot Express (I think??) Then it started to rain. Ugh. :headache: Not too hard yet but enough where I got the umbrella out and covered Ty with his plastic bubble!! We called him the Boy int he Bubble all week b/c he had the stupid stroller rain cover on him most of the time from this point on!

They were taking quite a long time so I headed over to the Star Wars gift shop. It was almost 11am and I was starving!! FINALLY they came out with BADGES AROUND THEIR NECKS!!! WHAT??? Chris came over and said they had won a dream!! Awesome!! I assumed they had one for me. Nope. Nada. I didn't really expect it but I have to say I was bummed. I think it was more the pouring rain at that point and the fact that I had been sitting in the rain while they one Dream Fast Passes! Everyone said they would share..there was enough for everyone. I guess they were sitting in the ride, waiting to go, when the Dream Team came in and handed them out. How exciting for them!!

We then decided to head to TSPP for lunch. DH and I always go here. We love it!!!! I know it gets a bad rap but it really is good. The desserts are so-so, cookies or a rice krispie treat, but the pizza is the best!! :thumbsup2 I never thought it would upset my dad's stomach........................................................

After lunch we went right over to the Muppet Show to get out of the rain. While we were inside, waiting for the show, Ty decided he needed a diaper change. ;) I went back to TSPP and told them not to wait for me if they opened the doors before I got back.

By the time I came back out there was a line outside and I couldn't get in. Bummer. I waited for the next showing and headed in. That swell family of mine had waited for us! :goodvibes We headed into the show just as Ty fell asleep. Nice! :thumbsup2 He slept through the whole show..which surprised me b/c of the cannons at the end.

Disney026.jpg

After the show we decided on using our FP's for TS. On the way over though we stopped at the Backlot Tour since it was only a 10m. wait.

Everything was fine until we were walking through the props dept. I looked back and my dad and Chris were gone! :confused3 We waited for them as long as we could but they had just disappeared. So the 4 of us got on the ride. I figured the bathroom had tied them up. This ride didn't bother Ty either...he went with the flow when the bridge started rocking and the water came down.

Sure enough, after the ride, Chris called and said my dad's IBS had acted up and they were going back to the hotel. SUPER BUMMER!!! I did not want my dad to miss Sci-Fi. I was getting really bummed. It was pouring at this point and Ty needed some quiet. So I let DH and Stefan head to TS while I went to the Baby Care Center at the front of the park. As soon as I got Ty asleep again I was on the phone with Dining to try and switch Sci-Fi to another day. The problem was we only had Wed free since my dad, Chris and Stefan did not have park hoppers. Tomorrow was our no-park day.

next up...would we get to Sci-Fi on another day? Where would we eat that night and would the rain get worse?

so cool that your family won dream fastpasses!!! i'm sure they didn't know they could've probably got an extra one for you, not being disney experts and all. my ray wouldn't have known to ask for that, i know. i'm still waiting to win any kind of dream whatsoever. i've been 4 times since the year(s) of a million dreams started in 2007 and i haven't won squat! i have one trip left before it's over. we'll see! i've already made a deal with anna that if they win a night in the castle while we're there in december that i'm her "sister" and we can come with them since it sleeps 6!

too bad about your dad's IBS. so sorry it didn't go as planned. hope you guys still got to do sci-fi!

Well, the day started out well and I guess just fizzled out. Sorry about the rainy end. I really hope you were able to reschedule the dinner! You are so brave to go on TOT and RnRC!!! This summer I went on a swinging ship and got such motion sickness...it lasted the whole rest of the day and I was still shakey the next day...terrible....now I am afraid to go on rides....other than the ones in Fantasy Land :rotfl: Ty looks like such a trooper going on the rides and sleeping as needed. I can't believe you missed the dream fast passes....I would have cried so I can understand you being bummed. :goodvibes Maybe next time.... :thumbsup2

Awww, sorry you didn't get a Dream Fastpass, too. :sad1: The park looks pretty dreary with the rain. I hope you stayed dry. You can't leave us hanging about Sci-Fi like that! Did you get to go??? I hope you dad started feeling better. :flower3:

I asked Ray about the FastPasses again last night. He said the Dream Team Member DID ask if they had one for everyone in their party but I guess they were moving so fast it didn't click in his head. He said they basically threw the passes at them and got out of there. :confused3

I take Bonamine pills..they are chewable and I only take one in the AM and one at lunch. They don't make me sleepy but Chris took one and she said she felt very tired. :confused3 RNRC shouldn't bother you if you get motion sickness though. (I did want to cry about the FP's!! ;) Maybe it was b/c I was standing in the rain and, Like Punkin, I had been 3 times since The Year of a Million Dreams, and nothing.

The parks looked like that all week. No sun at until bits and pieces on day five.

Hi! We arrived at WDW on 8/20, just in time for the rain. Didn't think it was too bad; although the rain itself was horrendous WHEN it was raining, the times in between were pretty nice- overcast, very warm, very breezy. We actually found it preferable to the last 2 days we were there (24th and 25th), when it was beastly hot and sunny the whole time.

I wanted to add that I believe on the Tuesday you went to DHS, WDW had decided to open all their parks at 8am as they were anticipating having to close early that evening due to Fay. THis is what a friend told us (they were there ahead of us). So that would be why DHS was already opened when you got there.

I'm sorry your dad's IBS kept interferring with your plans. THat's hard, and I'm sure disappointing for you. He had to have been miserable, because IBS IS miserable, and then knowing that you guys were all disappointed too!

Keep the trip reports coming...I love to visit WDW vicariously!!

Thanks for reading! We laughed about how when we left on Magical Express the afternoon of the 23rd we actually saw a little sun. I think the worst rain was on the 2nd half of our trip. I agree with you...the drizzling was ok but when it rained it sure did rain huh???

Yay for your family winning the dream Fast Passes - too bad you didn't get one though. I really hope you guys got to eat at Sci-Fi another day - such a fun place!

Day Three, Part Two!

No pics in this update b/c my dad was gone and he was the camera man!!! Sorry!!!

I left you sitting in the Baby Care Center trying to get Ty to nap and desperately search for another Sci-fi time and dinner tonight! The problem is, like I mentioned before, my family didn't have park hoppers so the only day we could do Sci-Fi was tomorrow, on our free day, or our last day. I called Disney Dining and luckily they had a late lunch for tomorrow available..I was surprised since we are a party of 6!! I booked it and canceled what we had scheduled for lunch that day....WCC.

As I was doing this Ty woke up b/c a large family with older children, say age 5 and up, obnoxiously came into the BCC. No effort to be quiet. I have no idea why they were there either. I think it was to get out of the rain but I was PO'd! I couldn't get Ty back to sleep in the center with them there so I went out, IN THE RAIN, and found a bench with some coverage. I put a blanket over him, while I got wet, and he slept another 30m. I just don't get people sometimes. :furious:

By the time he got up Dh and Stefan were back. I called Christine and she said my dad was resting in the room and they were out for any dinner (great..more unused TS) I asked the two guys were they wanted to go for dinner. Of course they said they didn't care. I called dining again and about the only decent place left was Trails End. DH and I LOVE TE so we had no problems going there...we were hoping our favorite server Gary would be there. We did have time for a quick ride on Toy Story...they had already been but not me. We headed over there and by that time (it was probably 3:30) the FP's were definitely gone for the day and the wait was 2 hours!!! Even in the FP line we still had a 10m wait. Ty fell back asleep, poor guy, and when it was finally our turn I was torn between waking him up to ride or using the exit. I was selfish and woke him up. I felt like I hadn't done anything the whole day except stress over ADRs and get wet! :rotfl: So we rode. The CM said he had to sit facing fwd, on my lap. No problem! It was a snug fit but I think he enjoyed the ride. I wasn't able to play but that was ok...I just wanted to see what the ride was all about. DH and Stefan said it was their new favorite WDW ride!!! I thought it was super cute and much better then I expected...I thought it was going to be more like Buzz in MK. The turns are a bit quick but nothing to cause motion sickness.

After the ride we headed to the gates for the Ft. Wilderness buses. We got over there about 15m before our ADR but that wasn't a problem. I also requested a table in Gary's section which they were able to accommodate. I knew he wouldn't remember us from last year but that was ok....he is so awesome! Best server in Disney!! :thumbsup2 Super friendly and just a nice guy.
Dinner was great..the ribs there are delicious! The last two years the dessert table has been a bit lacking. The apple cobbler is good but they only have cookies and ice cream as alternatives. At dinner Stefan asked if we were going back to DHS to use up the Dream FP's. Plus, Chris and my dad had given us theirs so we had 5 passes between us!!! :thumbsup2 DH said Ty wouldn't be able to go back...his bedtime is 7pm. He suggested Stefan and I go!!! What a great DH!! He knew how sad I was about the day and was trying to give me a break from everything!! So we decided to head back to the hotel, change and then Stefan and I would make our way back to DHS. It was still raining, and we knew Fantasmic had been canceled, but we didn't mind!!!

Next up...A super creepy elevator ride and would I beat the boys scores on TS?
