We're 3 adults now...where would you stay?

While there's no immediate WDW trip in our plans, it became evident this summer that DS 18 is just too big to share a room with DH and me. Our favorite resort is the GF, but reserving two GF rooms is awfully expensive. Also, we want to widen our Disney horizons and maybe try a different resort. Would you rent a DVC villa with one bedroom or two or would you just reserve two rooms at a less expensive resort than the GF? As you can see from my signature, we've already stayed multiple times at GF, Poly, CSR, AKL and once at WL. In general, we probably wouldn't return to the Poly, CSR, WL or WLV. If you were in our situation, where would you stay? We would be open to going back to AKL and staying at Kidani or Jambo. But, maybe it's time for an Epcot resort? What do you think? Thanks!

I know you asked about on property but while we enjoy on property and GF is our favorite...we really like the Waldorf and Hilton Bonnet Creek and we frequently receive a discount large discount when reserving two rooms. We ask for the "stay connected rate."

Over Thanksgiving by watching the rates over the summer at Hilton BC we had a standard room rate of $149 with the stay connected rate of 50% off the second room.

While we still do Disney resorts we enjoy switching it around with others.

One bedroom at Bay Lake Tower. You and your spouse have a king sized bed and wonderful bathroom. Your teen has his own bathroom. The pull out is comfortable.

Swan and Dolphin often offers similar "stay connected" rates if you book 2 rooms, as well. Often you can apply a promo/discount offer to the first room and if "stay connected" rate is offered, you can still get that for the second room, as well.

I highly recommend booking a stay at an Art of Animation Suites!! We recently stayed in the Cars themed area and absolutely LOVED all the space the suites had to offer for three adults. There are two full bathrooms and two seperate sleeping areas. If you haven't seen the layout of the suites, check them out! There is a small kitchen area with a microwave and fridge. The theming of the CARS lands was amazing. We felt as though we walked right into the movie...everything was replicated to a tee!!

We have stayed at all price levels on property, including DVC rooms and will definitely stay at Art of Animation again! We loved it!! It didn't feel like a value resort at all.

Yacht Club, Beach Club, or Boardwalk if it's in the budget. The Boardwalk area is fun, and being close to Epcot is awesome.

I'd see if you can rent points for a DVC villa. I'm 26 and still share with my parents. I just make sure to have my own bed/sofa bed. I prefer renting DVC points because we can get a deluxe resort for about the price of a moderate when we stay in a studio. We just got back from SSR and I was surprised at the size of the studio.

Well, if you are wanting separate sleeping areas, but not booking two rooms, then your best options are the suites at the value resorts (ASMu and AoA) or the FW Cabins. The cabins have a double in the living room and a double and twin bunks in the bedroom. The suites would have a queen in the bedroom, and various fold out options depending on the resort. The cabin would give you a full kitchen and the suites would have a kitchenette (both of which could be a bonus in keeping an 18 year old full of food ). The suites would also have two bathrooms, which would come in handy getting ready in the morning.

You could also rent points for a DVC villa, either a one bedroom or a two bedroom.

Or you could just book two rooms at a value or moderate resort. No kitchen facilities, but two bathrooms and plenty of beds to go around. Any time we have booked two rooms at a mod, it's been a king attached to two queens.

I'd look into a 1 bdrm villa, check David's wdw rentals, it would be cheaper then booking thru wdw. And a lot of people on the boards have used him.

Thanks,everyone. I am thinking BCV or AKL villas. We've never stayed in a villa before and at this point it might be nice to spread out a bit and be able to prepare a snack in our room. We have never stayed at an Epcot resort, so BCV might be nice. I would prefer to spend under$650/night. Is that realistic for a one bedroommvilla?Our favorite parks are MK and Epcot.

The hurricane was unbelievable. Our home remained safe and dry as we are on a pretty big hill. Other parts of our town did flood. But, there were fallen trees and downed power lines everywhere. Schools were closed for a week and many businesses lost 2-3 days. There were tremendous gas station lines. Even now, gas is still being rationed. We were without electricity or heat for 12 days and we are comparatively very lucky. In my mom's neighborhood on the South Shore, there was incredible flooding. Boats broke free and houses and cars flooded. All over you see homes with all the belongings and furniture outside just waiting for the garbageman. You can also see the water lines on houses and some are 5-7 feet high. There is a curfew from dusk to dawn to prevent looting. People line up for free food and clothing because the storm left them with nothing. A lot of electricity has been restored, but for the two weeks prior everyone was crowding into public spaces such as schools or libraries to stay warm and charge their phones. School were open last weekend just so kids could have someplace warm to go. I really hope never to experience anything like this again.

So DH and DS have helped me narrow it to a one bedroom at BWV or BLT. Any thoughts on which is better? We usually stay in the MK area and like the idea of being on the monorail and able to walk into MK from BLT. We also like being able to see the fireworks and electric water pageant. On the other hand, BWV sounds like it would be fun because of the available evening entertainment. We've never stayed at an Epcot resort before. Is it noisy at BWV? That's a concern for us. DH and DS decided against BCV because SAB doesn't appeal to them because of the sandy bottom. DS wouldn't mind AKV, but since we've stayed AKL twice before, we'd rather try something new. Any additional insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I love the Boardwalk area. We stayed right over the bakery one trip and never had an issue with noise. We loved walking to Epcot and taking the boat to the Studios. However, you certainly can't go wrong at BLT! Looks very magical! You will love the 1 bedroom villa. We stayed in one over Xmas at SSR due to an upgrade from AOA. I'm going to have a hard time going back to "regular" rooms!

If it was me, it'd have to be BLT. The location has all the convenience of GF and while it may be a bit modern for some people, it's obviously a lot newer and might be nice to try.

If you got a villa, I would say go for two bedrooms, it'd be nice for you and your husband to have one room and your son to have his own too instead of someone having to sleep on a pull out couch.

It's good that you're thinking about this kind of thing. I was his age on my last trip to WDW and it was the first time I had my own room, too.

We did go for BLT ---a one bedroom lake view villa. Price difference was a bit steep for the two bedrooms. Maybe next time...
