Went to the bank today...

I just went to the bank (Washington Mutual) to make a couple small deposits. Anyway, I get to the little "pod" where the teller is and I give him a check to deposit, tell him that it needs to go into the "free" checking and not the "gold" checking, but I didn't have the account number.

Sidenote - My free checking is the account I don't keep hardly any money in - I take an "allowance" from my income every two weeks and put it in there to use as fun money. It usually never has more than a couple hundred at a time - today it happened to have like $20 in it.

Anyway - he's looking up the account number and says to me "oh! here it is - the account with hardly any money in it" and there's like 8 people standing behind me in earshot. i know it's petty, but I wanted to say "but I have $$ in my other account and my savings" Childish, I know. It just irked the crap out of me that he would say that. I guess I should have shot back something witty but I was honestly speechless.

Just venting.

I would have slapped the person upside their head.:mad:
That comment was a little out of line.

That teller was totally out of line, how embarrassing.

At our bank when making a balance inquiry they jot it down on a slip of paper and hand it to you.

A response for next time that happens: " Oh, I'll move over some money from my primary account at (insert name of your bank's competitor here)."

No need to embarass you with a comment like they made .:mad:

ITA!!! ::yes::

I would also call the bank branch manager tomorrow and inform her/ him that their employee is blurting out comments like that. If you don't have a name a description who do just fine.

Grrrr! They do that at my bank too. I have two checking accounts ; a "real one" that has 98% of my money and is used for rent, food, etc. and a small one that is used to handle Ebay payments which then go towards "fun".

Naturally the "fun" account is always smaller and they always feel the need to announce it to everyone in line! :mad:

Wow! Its been a while since I worked, but I did spend 10 years in banking. From that experience I can tell you that comment is totally unacceptable. Tellers are never supposed to make any personal comments to customers whether it be about the amounts(a lot or a little) in an account, the amount of a check, where a check is from, etc.... If anyone in management had heard that, the teller could have gotten in serious trouble.
Sorry you had to experience that.
