I had asked this question in a different post, but I just got off the phone with Disney, asking if I could knock a few days off the end of our AP4 ressies (due to flight booking issues), and if I do that, we lose the entire reservation at our rate! They said the AP4 rates are completely booked for that time period at all three hotels, and all I can do is keep calling back. Silly me for not realizing at the time that this could happen, hey? I knew if you changed the dates, you could lose the rates, but I guess I thought that meant actually switching to different days, not just dropping days.

So now, we're so SAD!

I know you can't help, but I just wanted to share, and let others know about this predicament!

It doesn't sound right. I hope you held on to your original AP4 reservation because I'd call back and speak to some one else. I have been able to amend two AP4 reservations that I had/have.

Sorry to hear that. I travel a great deal and have found that it is not a good idea to try and play with the ressie once it is made. Unfortunately I made the same error a number of years ago. Good luck

Yeah, we kept the ressies until we can figure out how we're going to handle our trip plans. We're trying to keep in mind that it's a DISNEY trip, and it's supposed to be fun, so even if we end up having to stay off property, (or go at a different time) we'll have a blast!

And I agree, I'm going to keep calling back, hoping to work this out! Hopefully they don't get sick of me!:rolleyes1

I would try calling back too. That really sucks. I would think there has to be a way around it, but I'm no expert. How many days are you trying to take off the ressie?

Their comment to you does not make sense though. Why would you not be able to cancel a couple of days just because they are sold out, and why would you keep calling back? I would definintely call back, maybe they missunderstood you?

Call back again. We dropped dates for our Feb trip and it didn't alter our per night cost. We use the 10% AP discount, no special ap night rates at that time. I can see how adding days can change your rates if there are no more AP4 rooms, but why would it change it if you have a reservation already and are staying for a shorter time, eventually freeing up more rooms for the AP4 rate?

We need to take 1 night off the end of our GCH ressies, and 5 nights off the PPH ressies. (we had the PPh booked for the whole trip in case we couldn't afford the GCH) so that it would be 4 nights at each place. I just don't understand how dropping nights affects things. You would think they would be happy that some of our nights would open up for others, but since we already have the rates for the first nights, we're not trying to add anything new...why do we lose the rate?

Sigh. Oh well, shame on me for not getting the facts. I thought I was being smart by making sure we had enough nights covered, but I really should have narrowed it down from the start (although Murphy's law, I probably would have had even more problems booking the flight, right?;) )

I'll just keep calling and hope for the best! Thanks for your input and support! Much appreciated. (as well as any further advice:) )

Good news! I just got off the phone with Disney and managed to at least get my GCH down to the nights we need! I still couldn't fix the PPH, but the CM was so nice, and she suggested to keep calling back! Yay! Now at the very least, we'll still be able to spend the last 4 nights of our trip at the GCH! And I have a lot more hope that we'll get the PPH straightened out.

That's just crazy!

I understand not being able to add or switch dates and still get the same rate. I understand not being able to drop days IF you're booked on a package that requires a certain length of stay.
But in your case they certainly should be able to modify a ressie and drop days without canceling and rebooking the whole thing.
:confused3
I agree with the others. Keep calling back. It's not unheard of to get conflicting answers to the same question when you talk to the folks at Disney.
;)

Looks like we were posting at the same time. Glad you at least got part of it straightened out. Hopefully it will all work out!

Ditto - I don't understand this at all. How on earth is dropping a few days going to affect the rate of the already booked days and the days you're keeping :confused3 I don't get it!

btw what days did you cancel at GCH? Was it perhaps November 19th and 20th?? I'm only curious...:rolleyes1 I may or may not be wanting to stay at GCH during those days :lmao:

:rotfl: You're too funny! And no, sorry, it wasn't in Nov, it was Dec 15 (OMG - I think I just heard the sound of phones dialing everywhere!:rotfl2: )

And I TOTALLY agree! I can't for the life of me understand how dropping days can affect the whole ressie. Quite silly, but I guess they kinda cancel the whole thing and rebook? I dunno. But at least it's half worked out.:goodvibes

All you have to do is go with your original ressie, then just check out early!!! For instance, if I make ressies for 5 days at DLH, then I check out after 3 nights, they don't charge you for the rest of your stay as long as you are checked out by check out time!!!

If I am reading your post right, although I was kinda confused about the split stay. I did this in June, couldn't take off the last few nights, but just checked out early. It was no problem!

That's a cool idea. Sorry if my posts are confusing... What we want to do is spend 4 nights at PPH then 4 nights at GCH. We originally booked all 8 nights at PPH and overlapped the last 4 nights at the GCH (2nd ressie) until we could decide if we could afford it! Now that we've decided to go for the GCH, we only want 4 nights at the PPH. Hopefully that makes more sense!:)

By checking out early, you didn't get dinged with a penalty at all? I thought we had to cancel 72 hours in advance, or we get charged the night's fee. If we checked out after only 4 nights, wouldn't we get charged for the next three nights anyways? (within the 72 hour window)

Thanks for the help!

Actual we have to check out early once (family reason) and they were going to charge us for the last night because we did not cancel with in the 72 hours.

We had to go through a lot of people before they final agreed not to charge us

Nope, I just checked out and that was it. No problems at all. You already paid for the first night, so you've been charged for that. It happens all the time (I worked front desk here in Vegas for years!) and you just check out early! I'll call right now to verify for you!

Andrea

Okay, I just called the reservations number and asked them! They said it's up to the front desk, there is no exact policy. So you may want to call the PP directly and ask what they would do it something happened and you had to check out early. Then you will know for sure!

I didn't have a problem, but apparently the person I got was either very nice or just didn't care because they did not charge me. (they will if it's after check out time though)

Andrea

Just to update - I'm STILL trying to get our first four nights at the PPH, but of course some of those nights fall over the weekend, so I can get the Thurs, and the Sun, but not the Fri and Sat. It's so frustrating because I already HAVE those days booked! It's just that the ressie goes for 9 nights instead of 4. Anyways, despite the goofy (no pun intended) policy, the CMs have been really nice, and haven't complained about the number of times I keep calling. (several times a day - poor guys and gals!;) )

Wish me luck! At least it's not life or death, I know. We could always stay off site for the first 4 nights, because we would be moving to the GCH for the last 4 and would finish on that luxurious note!

Thanks for your support, all!

We had this same problem, but it was only one night we needed to knock off our reservation. When I called, they passed me off to a supervisor right away(they might have called her a specialist) because I wasn't happy with their policy. It seems that when you book with a special rate code, any changes you make to your ressie can change your rate. They basically cancel your "special rate" stay, and you have to rebook at the going rate if there are no rooms left at the special rate. They said they are trying to keep people from overbooking rooms or days that they don't need, and then not canceling them until the last minute when it may be hard for them to fill that room.

I still don't agree or really understand it, because in theory, if you have to cancel your AP4 room, and then rebook for fewer days, wouldn't that open up the AP4 room you had just had, and make it available to be rebooked??? They are being really stict about this.

I would be curious to hear if anyone has any luck with checking out early and not having to pay extra.

Exactly!!!! That was my point, too! I must've called about 10 times, and finally I got a CM who passed me onto a supervisor also, who finally agreed to drop the nights I needed. The CM was really nice, and agreed that I wasn't asking for anything "extra" as I already had my 4 nights booked, plus the reason we needed to cancel nights was because we are moving to the GCH, so it's not like Disney was losing money because of us! LOL

Anyways, fortunately it all worked out, but for me it was definitely a big LESSON LEARNED!

Now we just have to get the flights to work out with the hotel ressies! :rotfl2:

(Usually we do things the other way - flight first, then hotel!)

Thanks for the support!
