. What is it about Disney rides that entices people to go back and ride again and again? And yes, I even mean Small World!

See now, I find that is the biggest problem with most of Disney. I do not want to ride the majority of rides again. Heck, I don't even want to ride them more than once every 5 years!!! I could take all the rides that I like and easily put them into one park.

However, at Universal, I can ride most of the rides several times per day and not tire of them.

It is such an individual thing and that is why some people like Disney better than Universal and vice versa.

We go to both resorts and ride everything over and over. We split our week evenly between the two. To each their own.

I admit that I did get a little burned out by Disney for a few years. I needed a break from that and now it's fun again. I haven't reached that point at Universal yet but probably will someday.

I've been going to Universal every single year (2 sometimes 3 times a year on 10 day trips) since the Studios first opened and I'm not tired of it yet. I still get all giddy and happy when I get there too because I KNOW for a fact that I'm gonna have fun.

most of the disney peeps i see posting on DISboard are consummate planners who tend to research & plan their trips in excrutiating detail (which is what usually trips them up...park experience is never static or fixed, need to go with the flow and appreciate the unplanned events/take time to stop & smell the roses).

FYI, aside from this board, there are many books out available for research re U (UG has touring plans as does passporter's & kelly monaghan's one solely re U is a lifeline for 1st time visitiors). Sorry u weren't prepared as to what to expect.

This was a weekend trip that was planned in like 2 weeks time and the park was just an "extra". I wasn't planning a trip around it like I do with WDW. It was a last minute thing where I was able to get a free stay at a Marriott resort, so I didn't plan like I've done with WDW in the past

The thrill of my son's entire life was when he got stuck on the Buzz Lightyear ride and had to go around like 20 times. He STILL talks about that Don't even get me started on the last trip where he wanted to go on Splash Mountain 5 times in a row

So I was browsing the other forums and found a thread intitled: "We tried the Stratagies but Disney is NOT the vacation for us!" at:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2164375 I just found it a little humorous to see a thread almost like this one but about Disneyworld instead. People posting there seem to be as defensive as we are here.

That's exactly why I commented about not bashing me because I've seen threads like what has been posted above and people not liking WDW. It's not pretty!

guess that explains ur less than stellar experience then, especially if ur used to planning. Just because it's a non-disney park doesn't mean u should throw ur tried & true system to the wind (unless ur FOTL onsite).

i predict we'll be seeing many threads with peeps thinking that Universal is a no-brainer to navigate...whether by virtue of being smaller in size, or; worse 'the same' as WDW parks. IMO, if you have specific needs, u still need to plan to achieve the best experience, hate to think many will be un-necessarily disappointed

U is special, yet (like WDW) not everybody's cuppa tea...still, there are portions of both parks that are suited to both families & thrill riders

I think OP gave US a fair shot and it just wasn't the best park for her family. She may have missed somethings which may have made the day better, or IoA may have possibly been a better park for them. I saw on the SW board that they were also at SW and loved SW. I have seen some previous threads where a poster went to US/IoA with an attitude that they were going to a 2nd rate park or vacation because they could not afford Disney this time - and nothing was going to make their experience at US as good as Disney. I just do not see this with the OP.

I see and hear so many compare Universal to Disney and just don't get it because when ever anyone asks questions about Universal we always say don't go expecting Universal to be Disney cause if you do then you will defintly will not have a good experiance cause Univesal is completely different and granted op's child didn't like it and I can understand cause I have a child with disability but he loved Universal and thought Disney was ok and to each his own
