Well...this is turning out to be an interesting day..Update pg.2..

I guess I pushed the envelope a little too far...

Woke up to frozen water pipes this morning - even though I let the water "drip" last night.. I was hoping they might thaw out today (part of the outside lines are above ground), but when I went outside to check things out I noticed the 2 water jugs I had out there are frozen solid as a rock.. Uh oh! Not good.. Only supposed to get up to the low 30's today - with sleet and freezing rain arriving around 6 pm and continuing through the night..

It's only in the 20's right now - and since it dropped to the teens last night I'm having a hard time getting it to warm up in here.. Heater is on full blast - and I took some water I had in jugs (inside), filled a pan, and have that boiling on the stove.. Seems to be helping somewhat..

Went back out to start my car - to let it run for awhile - and it's dead.. Of course!

Was sitting here having my coffee and heard glass breaking in the bathroom.. Thought someone threw a rock through the window.. Looked inside and found that the light bulb (up in the ceiling) exploded!! What the heck? Never had that happen before.. But on the plus side, I wasn't sitting directly underneath it on the toilet..

Ah well - whatcha gonna do? What's life without a little adventure - right?

I know you are (were?) trying to make it to Dec 1'st..but I think it might be time to finish up that packing, charge up that car battery, and head for your daughters house. You don't wanna get caught out there in a bad snow storm all alone!
Make cocoa if you don't have canned milk for coffee..cocoa and a storm go better together anyhow!

Frozen pipes equaling no toilet would have had me grabbing boxes and throwing things in them as fast as I can and the phone in the other hand calling to be picked up ASAP.

No coffee would have me abandoning the boxes until next year and walking to civilization!

I can't help with the car or the pipes, but the exploded lightbulb I may be able to.

When this happens at my mom's house she used to take a potato and push it up and twist to get the lightbulb "butt" out of the socket. Hope it helps a little.

I hear you. We live in an apartment and as I was sitting here my heater started making noise I let the apartment manager know. The guy came to reset it and started working and then 20 minutes later it went out. Oh well I have the oven on to cook turkey to make it warm. At least I have a roof over us and dinner cooking. It could be worse. Hope everything gets better soon. Happy Thanksgiving.

See - ya gotta have faith.. Dson-in-law was talking to our mutual friend who lives across the lake (DD & her DH are going there for a party tomorrow night and sleeping over).. When he (the friend) heard what was happening on this side of the lake, he came over with an unopened quart of half-n-half he bought yesterday, jump started my car, and brought along some jugs of water..

Meanwhile, the pipes just started thawing out a little while ago.. Not full force yet, but a steady stream.. Of course they'll probably freeze again tonight - LOL - but I'll think about that tomorrow..

Finally got it warm in here..........for now.. LOL..

Yeah - that one even had my Dson-in-law stumped.. Haven't got a clue what caused it, just glad I wasn't in there.. LOL..

Ummm.. I'm not so sure about the "hiding in bed with a good book".. There's a light bulb in the ceiling right over my bed too!!

Managed to get enough hot water to wash my dishes, so that's one job done.. Didn't want to chance the water freezing up in the next couple of hours.. Still haven't accomplished all that much with the packing - - but I've been known to work much better under pressure (LOL), so there's still tomorrow..

Darn packing fairies! Just can't get good help these days..
