Well, the year was off to a nice start

until today. DD11, who is so much smarter than I had her Itouch in her pocket because she could not find her purse. And, because she again is so much smarter than I, choose to take it out of the case. So, this morning, she has her Itouch in her hoodie pocket and while running it falls out and hits the driveway. SURPRISE there is a reason Mom asks for certian stupid things to be done. When the Itouch hit the ground, the screen cracked!

Then this afternoon, DH calls to tell me he is broken down on the road. Transmission problems and his van will not move. Wonderful! Did he ever do anything a few months ago when I told him the transmission was slipping? Nope, didn't think it was a big deal. Not sure if it was a case of, DW can't know anything or maybe it was, no biggie, I will get it looked at another day.

The only good side is, since DH is unemployeed he doesn't need the van everyday. I guess he will be trapped at home now and can work on the resume and job search.

My DS's iPod Touch screen cracked too. I bought the Otterbox Defender case which has a screen protector built in and now you barely notice the crack. Plus that case will protect against most anything I think.

Sorry about the broken ipod touches. Careless teens and fragile electronics is the reason why I get squaretrade.com extended warranties on those things. I just sent an iphone in for repairs that apple deemed to be faulty due to dropping. Squaretrade covers breakage due to dropping and water damage. The phone was repaired and returned to me in less than a week.

And op, I also have kids and a husband who know alot more than me. It gets to be very frustrating to always be the dumbest person in the house.

iphone 4 insurance was somewhere in the range of $100 for 2 years. A 32 GB ipod touch is around $55 with ADH for 3 years. There is a $50 deductible for iphones only. Other electronics have no deductible. Considering that a new iphone without contract renewal would have cost me $600 it was well worth the money. This one was less than a year old.

You need to buy the insurance within a period of time after purchase. And you must supply them with a copy of the receipt to verify the purchase and the dates.

Awww, I know how you feel...we got hit with a $675 plumbing bill yesterday. No Ipod issues here as we don't own any (oops, DD does but she has a nano and it has been good to go for over 5 years)we were totalled last July and finally in Nov found a replacement used car...and 3 days later had a $600 repair on our 15 year old van...Murphy sure knws where took for his targets, eh? Hope this is all you're dealt and that it is a good thing it is over with early in the year!

I have the Otterbox Defender for my Iphone 3GS. I dropped the phone off a ladder and it fell 8-10 feet to concrete and had no damage at all. The rubber cover was "scratched" but who cares about that! Worth every penny.

BTW Amazon has these for the 3GS for $17 and the Iphone 4 for $20. Normally they are $50.
