Well, it ain't Disney!! Myrtle Beach & Charleston, SC info. needed

Happy Wednesday!

Unfortunately, will not be spending time at Disney World this summer, so we're "settling" for Myrtle Beach for a week.

DH wants to drive to Charleston, SC while we're at the beach for a week and spend some time in the "historic" section and sightsee. DD13 LOVES being at the ocean, but DH and I are not crazy about spending all of our time there and are really interested in finding something "different" to do while we're down there. Anyone have any suggestions? We'll probably spend 3-4 days actually "on" the beach, but would love some other activities to look forward to.

Also, we'll be staying at Pirateland Campground with some friends and their children, so hopefully that will occupy DD somewhat.

You will really like Charleston. It is really a pretty town. Your DD will probably like pirateland. It is a nice campground. Have you ever been to Mrytle Beach??? PM me and I will be glad to give you some pointers. We go there every year.

I would highly recommend going to Patriot's Point (military exhibits - aircraft carrier, sub, battleship, etc.) and the boat trip to Fort Sumter (a great sightseeing boat trip in the harbor with a tour of the fort).

I may get flamed, but I vote for staying all your time in Charleston. There are some nice campgrounds/beaches and the city is beautiful. We3 cannot get into the Mrytle Beach groove - tourist trap (at least S. Mrytle Beach). Plus, you'll be close to Savannah, which is also a beautiful city!
