Went to see my Dr. the 16th and he finally put me one a strict diet. It is the 1000 calorie diet. Well Yesterday i had to chet a little because we went to a baseball game but the other days I did really good. He said ww atkins sb all those are great diet because of one thing they already count the calories. so I am combinding the 1000 calorie with ww and hope I lose more he said on the 1000 calorie it makes you lose about 2.5 pounds a month but I think he said with out work out but I guess if I work out like I am and do the 1000 cal. and ww I should do pretty well. The only bad part about this 1000 cals is if you are dibetic like me you get a lot of lows. And I been getting them alot. He also said eat 5 peanuts, Walnuts, or Almonds (only 1kind not all 3) 5 mins. before enery meal or snack it cuts down on the hunger.

Is anyone else on this diet or something like it?

Hi Stitchgirl88,

I have a close family member that is a diabetic - none of my business but are you insulin dependent or type II (diet controlled).

Either way be VERY CAREFUL with labeling - always check sugar content! Did your Dr. give you an eating plan - specific diet to follow or just tell you to only eat 1000cal/day? Has he suggested you see a dietician? I would ask him to refer you to one they are WONDERFUL at planning out eating plans that incorporate some favorites with healthy choices to give a wide variety of foods that keep you satisfied w/o feeling hungry.

Keep us informed and hope you do well!

I put myself on a similar type diet when I start to gain back a couple pounds of the weight I lost. I eat 1200-1320 calories a day, and always eat 5 or 6 peanuts or almonds before my meals. I think it really works. I stay on this diet for a week, then go back to my 1500 calorie diet. I also do a "half diet" where, with the exception of fruits and vegetables, I eat half the amount I normally would eat (like 1/2 piece of bread instead of a full piece). I usually lose 4 -5 pounds for the week I do this. I've kept off 30 pounds for 3 years now. I am definitely a fat person in a not so fat body, I know I have to do this for the rest of my life if I want to be a healthy weight.

I am type II I am on a medication called glucofause. My Dr. is a dibetic dr and yes he did give me a strict eating plan. I am aloud so many startches and breads a day and meal and fruits and veggies, all that. I had Dibetetes for about 6 months and all I do is check sugar. Now i have to check calories now. I was eating 250 calories more then what i was suppose to i guess i don't know how he knew but apperantly i was. He put me on this diet to lose weight also since he got me medication settled for right now.

"half diet" - I never herd of that diet. Sounds good though. Congrats on keeping it off.
