And apparently I gained more weight during my nondieting spree (6 months) then I had thought. I was about ten pounds over what I had previously weighed about a month ago. That really really upset me. And now I have no idea if I lost anything. I'll have to wait until next Friday.

*Sigh*
 
{{HUGS}} A gain can be tough, but as long as you are committed you can overcome the gain and become a loser once again. Hang in there!

Oh my goodness! It's raining pixie dust on your post. Watch out! It's the kind that is tainted with lots of giggles and smiles. I think you might be right in the path of a major pixie dust storm. Take cover! D'OH!!! It's too late, it got you!

Scales are really funny creatures. Sometimes they are our friends and sometimes they are our foes. I want you to go back and read your post from early yesterday - the one where your mom lavished some well deserved praise and compliments on you!! And then read all our responses. :)

You are doing great! Don't pay attention to that silly ol' scale. Just keep doing what you are doing. Enjoy your watermelon! We're all here for you, cheering you along.

Thank you guys. I really don't know what I would do without your support. After I weighed in I sat there yesterday thinking. Why am I doing this? It's never going to work anyway.

And then I thought. WISH. And I want my darn clippie. And I've seen people on here that gained back weight but then lost it again.

I can do it! I really can. That's all I have to say to myself.
 

Don't give up. You are doing this for you...we support you, but it is you who is going to reap the benfits, physically and mentally. We all have ups and downs. We all want to quit....we all want to drown our sorrows in whatever our sinful calorie filled delight is, but we need to do this for ourselves. I hope the friend who always tells me this stuff reads this post :)

For real, please don't give up. You have made the first step, sometimes we take giant steps and other times baby steps, sometimes forward and sometimes back, but what matters is we keep trying.

Oh Jen, you are just beginning. You seem pretty determined to me, if you weren't motivated you wouldn't even be here telling us these things.

So take a deep breath and focus on your goals. You didn't gain the weight over night and you won't lose it overnight (don't you just hate it when people say things like that?) We're here for you when you need support or if you just need to talk and we're counting on you to be here for us.

I'm really glad you are part of our support group. {{HUGS}} sweetie. Hang in there, don't give up, just keep on keeping on, and you will be successful. Your mother has already noticed your success and there will be more successes to come. Just take it one day at a time, heck take it one hour at a time, I have to do that on some days ;)

As a wise nativetxn told me recently: Don't dwell on the past!

You know what you want, you know what you need to do to get there, and we can all see that you are motivated!!:)

I think we've all been there and know how de-motivating that discouraged feeling can be. Starting now, don't punish yourself mentally for what happened last week (or over the past 6 months). Just start fresh, and we'll all send our happy thoughts your way to help give you strength.

Today's a new day, and we can't wait to see you wearing your new clippie!!
 
You guys are honestly so sweet. I went to the gym today to see my friend and she let me in to work out for a little while I did fifteen minutes on the treadmill fully inclinded (They incline A LOT) and I've been walking around all do doing things. I didn't eat lunch until 4 because I just didn't have the time.

Okay. I did. But then I would have had to get McDonalds. I refused to!

But in good news my friend said to me "You look a lot better then you did last week." and when I was driving she said "Your arms got thinner."

I have a real problem with my arms so that made me happy. And I'm not quitting, there's this dress I want to get for vacation in June and that's my goal. To not feel weird wearing it. Here's a picture of it but it looks much better on a model. It seems sort of spanish looking, like.. Someone would be dancing in it.

I have a question. Does anyone else get like.. angry when naturally skinny people try and give you dieting advice? Like. Seriously. It makes me so uncomfortable and GUH. :rolleyes: It's like. What do they know, they've never dieted before.
 
hee, hee, hee. Do I get upset with thin people who try to tell me how to lose weight? LOL LOL LOL, um......just a tad.

My poor mother, she has never weighed more than 140 and she's 3 inches taller than I am. She's a nurse so she has <b>always</b> tried to "help" me. :rolleyes: I finally told her how helpful it was and she has decided, perhaps, that she would keep her advice to herself now.

I've been dieting to lose weight my entire adult life, like I don't <b>know</b> that you have to increase exercise and decrease intake to lose weight. Puhleeze :rolleyes:

Okay...<i>*deep cleansing breath*</i>...rant over, I feel better now :teeth:
 
The best is. My best friend used to be a size 0. Now she's like a 4. Big whoop. Anyway. We were out to eat one morning for breakfast with her boyfriend. And her boyfriend's mother is a nutritionist. And he tells me:

"Oh. Those LA Weightloss like diets don't work. You gain it all back."
Me: "Uh. I haven't dieted for six months. And I haven't gained any back. What, four pounds?"
Him: "You did gain weight."
My friend: "Yeah. You did. But then you lost it again."
Me: "So. I gained back 45 pounds, and then lost it again over night?"

This actually caused a big rift in our friendship for a while. It got me really angry and self conscious and I walked in the door of my house and started crying. So then I told my mom. And she gave him a dirty look when she saw him. etc.

But. The lesson here is. DO NOT GIVE OVERWEIGHT PEOPLE DIET ADVICE.

My friend today said to me "Oh you should have Eric (The personal trainer) write up a diet plan for you."

I said: "Vicky. It's like you think I don't know I'm fat. I know how to diet. I've lost weight before. I'm not diet hopping, it's harder to lose weight when you go from diet to diet."

RAWR. I love venting. Oh yeah. Her boyfriend is like. The same size as her. He's puny. They were both in one of the pictures I posted.
 
Tell your friends that after they lose 45 pounds you will be interested in hearing their advice but until that happens please change the subject. Then smile as sweetly as you can ;)
 
I did say that to her after the whole diner thing. There was more words then what I wrote up. But it's complicated.

I said to her. "You have never dieted before. You do not know what it's like to have to lose weight. So don't try and give me advice on something you know nothing about."

Her only rebuttle was:

"Well I work at the gym and I hear the things that go on and I've picked up stuff and all that."

Hah. Oh my goodness. Just now, I passed up.. a DOUGHNUT. I LOVE doughnuts. And we have a box of them and my grandma was eating one. And I was staring at the box. I even opened it up.. looked at them. And shut the box and got my watermelon!
 
Oh yeah. And one more thing, If I was you and I had your mother. I probably would have like. died. I don't know what I would have done. Getting it from friends is one thing but from family is SO much different.
 
I knew a lady back in the DC area when we lived up there. She was well over 200 pounds and she went on WW and got down into the lower 100s. She was about 5' 8" and probably a size 10 or so. She looked fantastic!!!

I met her through a group of friends. Having lost bunches of weight off and on for all my life, I felt like I "knew her" because of the weight loss thing. Even though we didn't work together or see each other much, we shared a comraderie.

One day a mutual friend had a bbq pot luck. The WW lady brough some home made chocolate and peanut butter treats called Buckeyes (after the Ohio Buckeyes). She had more than a few at the party and she mentioned to me on the sly that she noticed a few people looking at her funny, like she was pigging out. She confided that she knew that she wasn't going to gain all the weight back that she lost, but that she felt like everyone who was already skinny and who never had to diet was watching her like a hawk, as if everything she put into her mouth was going to make her fat again.

I think the people who are naturally skinny or who have never had a problem being addicted to food just don't realize what we are thinking or feeling when we over eat or when we are dieting or trying to lose weight. They might think they are trying to help, but they don't understand how sensitive an issue it is.

Having my parents living with us now is not a piece of cake WW wise. My mom loves to feed my husband. My husband wants to lose weight. He works out every day and could lose about 15 pounds, but my parents and sister see him as a living garbage disposal. Save those leftovers for Ross. I got a carrot cake for Ross. Ross will eat that. That portion is too small for Ross. He works out like a fiend but maintains the same weight because he is used to living up to an image they have of him and he doesn't WANT to control his portion size or sweet tooth. My mother expects me to eat what they are eating as well. She is always comparing her weight to my weight. I ask her if she would go to Daytona Beach in a bathing suit and she says at her age, no. Well, age be darned, if she didn't live on donuts and cake and cigarettes and if she exercised just a little every day then she could wear a bikini or normal bathing suit to the beach.

Sorry to ramble on, I know I have a tendancy to do this. Eventually you have to get to a point where you ingore the people who give you unsolicited advice (unless it's me!) and just keep doing what is working for you. Eating healthy is something we should all try to do as often as we can. However, we need to indulge once in a while (but not eat meters of pizza, as Tiggerlover has pointed out!) ;) Just do your best to head off these conversations and thank your friends for caring about you before it comes to the Clash of the Titans. :)

We spent the whole day installing a patio at my sisters house. Then we went out at got YUMMY food to eat at her house. I totally wanted to have one taquito, and there was a pile of 20 of them in front of me, but I resisted the urge. We ended up cooking out (burgers and hot dogs and potato salad) at my house later and I stuck to my WW plan of chicken and broccoli. I wanted a burger, but my chicken tasted so good and I felt full afterward. Even if other people can't see that we are making choices for ourselves, we still have to make them. Just keep doing what you are doing and nevermind what anyone else says. If you get frustrated with someone, go exercise!!!!! You can do something positive with all that extra energy!!!

I can't wait for some decent watermelon. You are really making me crave it!!!!!! I am a total watermelon addict. :) :) :)

Bravo, Tig! That's so great that you could do that!

I went to my friends house a little while ago. They were eating brownies. At first I did not care one bit. But I didn't have dinner yesterday or today (My mom works and well.. I'm not allowed near the oven.) and after a while.. I REALLY WANTED ONE. But I didn't do it.

You know what guys? We are some strong chicks!
