My daughter really wants to go to WDW for her 16th b-day in October, and stay in the Contemporary (Theme-park view). My husband thinks I am insane for even considering such an extravagant present, but what can I say? She's my baby....plus, it will give me another chance to go to my favorite place in the world! Anyway, I NEVER receive pin's, so I thought I'd call and see if one is attached to my name. NOPE! The very friendly CM tried to talk me into a ressie anyway, but I told him my husband would not be happy if I made one without some kind of discount. Long story short- maybe they'll send me one, maybe they won't, but congrats on those who do seem to get them!

Keep checking on themouseforless.com. It may be a little early for October discounts, but keep watching.;) You could book now and add the discount later too, or cancel if you can't find one.

Would it help to tell DH how much cheaper WDW would be than a huge Sweet 16 Party???? Worth a try, it IS your baby girl's big day....

DH and I tried the same thing this (we each called once). The CMs kept telling us about the general public deals. We were like, "If we don't get the 40% off, we don't go." You would think Disney would be like, "hmmm maybe we should send them something." In the end, we are going anyways (disney must know! :lmao: )

Sorry you didn't have one. Save some vacation offers in your account and maybe you'll get one next week. Good luck!

Did you try seeing how much the savings would be if you rented from a DVC member to stay at Bay Lake Towers with theme park view? For October, an MK view studio is 20 points per night, so $200 if you can rent them for $10 per point. Not sure how this compares to cash night, but it might help with your budget!
I'm taking my DD for her sweet sixteen this year too, but we stay as a family every year in the DVC resorts, so decided to do a budget trip at POP so we could stay longer and enjoy the parks and eating out together more, just the two of us!

Create an account on DisneyParks.com, price some packages for the dates you want, save the packages, order the planning DVD...that might trigger a PIN if they see you're interested.

I took my daughter for her sweet 16. We had lunch at CRT and I can still picture her wearing her crown and making her wish with her wishing star. Now she is in her second year of college and is hoping to do the College Program next spring. I wouldn't trade the memories of her making her "wish" for all the money in the world!

Hope it all works out! princess:

This advice has worked for me two different years. It could have just been a coincidence, but I had never had a pin, and a couple of days after doing this, I had one TWICE!

Thanks for all of the advice! I am definitely going to try this. As far as renting DVC, that option really intrigues me, but I'm very uncertain how to go about it, will it really save me money, etc. I've looked into it before, but to me it's so confusing! I will continue to search for a way to make her dream come true; my husband has tried to convince her she really wants something else (like a really nice camera), but she's not budging, lol! She takes after her momma!

Renting DVC points will absolutely save you money if you're looking to stay at a deluxe. Like all other resorts, it costs more points depending on what time of year you go. You can rent from either a DVC owner, or a website like dvcrequest.com

I would suggest going there and using their points calculator for the dates you want. They charge $13/point, but you can usually find them cheaper on the DVC forums here from individual people.

You will not necessarily save money if you're comparing it to a moderate or value, but you'll save a ton compared to a deluxe. Just read up on everything and make sure it's the right choice for you. dvcrequest.com has a FAQ that is very helpful.

If she's at all open to going just a little earlier, the current general public discount is 35% for deluxes, which is almost as good as any pin code you're going to get. The only downside is that it expires 10/1. Of course it's always possible another general public discount will come out later on.

I wish I could go earlier in the month, but as a teacher I can only go during Fall Break.
