It figures a week before I leave I end up in the ER. I have managed to cut my esophogus just below my vocal cords (about a 1 inch cut). I was having trouble swallowing and feeling like glass was in my throat when I swallowed even saliva. I had to have a huge tampon like thing stuck up my nose to numb it then a scoped passed down my nose into my throat and swallowed into my stomach. Long story short it hurt, I puked on the doctor. If I am not better by Friday I have to have minor surgery. Dont the big man upstairs know I have free dining in a week and I really want to eat all that great Disney food. Sorry for the long vent but I had to share my crappy day. Now I am here DISing strung out on Percocets. Whoa they are strong pills. Thanks for listening if you got this far.

Oh my! That sounds terrible. I hope you get better soon. How in the world did you cut your esophogus?

I honestly really dont know. I had snow crabs and shrimp on Friday and the doctor thinks it was from the shells. But I never felt it happen. When my throat started swelling up is when all the pain started. It is really the weirdest thing that has ever happened to me.

You do know that you are supposed to peel them BEFORE you eat them, right? Sorry, if I made it hurt to laugh.

Liz, if you need anything let me know and keep us updated. Hope you feel better soon.

:rotfl2: That is hysterical that you puked on the doc! I'm a nurse and have usually been the recipient of the puke:eek:
I hope you feel better and don't have to have surgery. What was your wait time in the ER?

That is kinda funny looking back. I am a nurse too. I actually can not believe how fast my ER trip was. They took me straight back because I think they were worried my airway would be compromised. I had my xrays and exam pretty quickly. It took 2 hours for the ENT doc to arrive and do the scope which lasted about 1/2 hour. So needless to say I arrived at 10 am and got sent home at 6pm. But I am just so glad it was nothing more serious. My dad died of throat cancer so needless to say I was a bit freaked out going in.

Ouch! That sounds awful. Hope you're feeling better soon!

Tsat stinks! I hope you are better in time for your trip. That scope up the nose is THE WORST! That was more painful than my needle biopsy in my neck. I don't blame you for throwing up! Keep up updated please!

So sorry to hear this. Passing some magic your way for a quick recovery. :wizard:

I am so sorry! I hope that you recover quickly. It would be dreadful if this interfered with your trip.

 Ouch!! Fingers and toes are crossed that you have a speedy recovery so that you can enjoy that WDW food!

I give you a garden to cheer you up.

I will be praying that you get better soon. Getting hurt right before a trip is the worst. I remember when I was 12 I dislocated my knee right before a WDW trip.
Not fun, except for the wheelchair express around the park. This might be a good excuse for a Dole Whip or two to ease the pain. :yay:
