people were holding got released. DCL is now showing availability in categories 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10 & 11 for the CA-FL repo cruise.

Last night there was nothing for a family of four and only an 11 for a couple.

Prices are still very high - Im soooooo glad I got in when I did

I'm sure DCL were happy that folks "reserved" these cabins as it artificially drove the prices sky high (and even though there is inventory there now they're NOT going to be putting it back down).
As you say thank goodness we got in early.
Anyone that wasn't following or knew what was happening with these cruises and the way DCL prices work would have been floored when they went in later on the Wednesday or the following day.

Cheers,
Grumbo

WE didn't get in until THursday I think and the price had already gone up about $1000. We are paying $5580 for 2 adults and a child in a cat. 11. That cat is now up to $6300!

Exactlly my thought. Our room has gone up $1600.00 from when I booked (I can use that money for a whole other cruise) LOL :) Sounds good anyway right :)

Talk about sticker shock!!! Our cabin was booked early Wednesday afternoon, cat. 9 for three people at $4882.67, just checked the DCL website, that same ressie this morning is going for $7854.67. The early bird, does catch the worm!!!

Is there an easy way to see what cabins are available without going through the whole booking process.

we're already booked with 2 connecting category 10's. We're midship on Deck 2...not a bad location, but I'd like to see if any deck 5 or 7 connecting cabins are available.

As for the early bird...you're not kidding. I cannot believe how much our cruise has gone up since we booked. Thank Goodness for the Dis...we booked at 2:30pm on 5-5 (our TA was on hold for 90 minutes).

OUCH!

Glad you all got your reservations earlier! More money to spend onboard! :teeth:

I booked mine around 2pm and got a cat. 6 for two adults and a 2 year old for $5227.67. I then transferred the ressie to Costco and am now paying $4805.67. Right now a cat. 6 is going for $8,070.67! :earseek:

I would never be able to afford to go on this cruise if I didn't book that early (thanks to the DIS boards). I am just amazed at how much the cost has gone up.

Just tried to check on the availability of some specific cabins (we have one already, but were hoping for a different location).... but was told that even though quite a few cabins opened up, for now on EVERYTHING will be available only as a gty!

It's unbelievable how much the prices have gone up. We booked a category 4 for 2 adults and 2 children on 5/5 for $8,023. I just checked and it's now at $12,039! That's an increase of over $4,000 or 50%!!!

Thank Goodness for the Dis...

Your telling me, I didn't even know when the reservations were going to be opened. I was hanging around on the DIS Wednesday afternoon and found out, Immediatley went to the web page and booked a cat 11 for me and hubby (deposited immediatly...didn't want to have it get messed up). We paid $2921.78 for 2 Ca-FL (no insurance, no transfers) and I was just looking and it is now at $4721.78 I would never have been able to pull that off (nor would I have been able to justify it to my hubby, since we have other cruises booked for this year). Thanks fellow diser's without you I would not be able to take this cruise.

That Disney will not lower the prices for this cruise again...especially since all our DEALS were posted. I mean if I saw what some of you got your cruise for ... I even think of it now!

Honestly?
No.
We are the exception in this group in that we follow and know the prices other pay. No different than getting on a plane and you paid $200 for a ticket and the person beside you paid $579.

The repositioning cruises are unique and I stand to be corrected but those that booked at the highest prices would be able to get refunds if DCL adheres to SOP from normal cruises.

Be interesting but I can't see them dropping them this far out with their inventory still being mostly gone.

Cheers,
Grumbo

I think DCL would need to provide the early booking discount to folks that booked last Thurs, Fri, etc. before lowering the prices for folks that book today (or later).

I'm sure they won't lower the price.

For one thing, aside from the official announcement DCL has been very lax in getting the word out to most travel agents. For instance, the Canadian travel agent website still doesn't have any information on the new cruises there. I've had no fax about it from Disney or any of the vendors. Nada.

So if you're one of the hundreds of thousands of people out there who don't read the DIS or a couple of other planning sites, how likely are you to even find out about the new cruises?

For most people, they'll be finding out about this soon and won't even know that prices were lower than they're paying.

not one commercial has aired yet in California advertising these "new" DCL cruises next summer either ... I think the only people that know about this are dissers, past cruisers, and general word of mouth (i.e. all the people I called frantically around the end of April, trying to find out who wanted to cruise with us).

And not all TAs knew either ... on Monday May 3rd I booked a DCL cruise for this November through Hilton Grand Vacations (our timeshare) so that I could use my points ... I mentioned in passing that I hoped the rep didn't have to call DCL on Wed May 5th (I joked that she'd never get through) ... she asked why, and I told her about the "big" announcement on May 5th that the Magic was moving to So Calif for summer 2005 only ... she was shocked and promptly sent out an email to all her peers there, so that everyone would be aware that calling DCL could be a logistically nightmare May 5th. Yeesh, you'd think DCL would have the decency to "warn" the travel agencies they'd worked with in the past at least.

Oh, my ! The price of the Cat 4 for 2 adults and 1 DD (8) has gone up over $3000 since I booked. Whoa !!!

If inventory drops back into the "early booking" level again, DCL will not automatically give anybody who has already booked the price difference.

If you call and ask them for it, then I believe they would have to give it to you. That is one of the best things about having DU handle your reservation, they are always on the lookout for any discounts & would probably have it taken care of before I even noticed (and I will probably check the price everyday!!)

The majority of people that book a cruise probably do not check the prices everyday & therefore DCL would not have a FLOOD of calls to deal with in decreasing the price, but there are certainly enough of us here to use up any discounts they might add.

All that just to say Disney will probably NOT go below their current pricing after seeing just how much interest there is in a cruise they seemed to think would not be too popular (as Repositioning cruises USUALLY are!!).

Even though we didn't get the cheapest rate, we are only about $1000 more than those that got in in the first hour or so

Do you really think that all those cabins freed up from people not getting their money in on time??:smooth: I know for a fact that DCL will extend the hold on a reservation if you call. When I booked my TA he wanted $$ now ooooorrrrr you know, supply and demand.....let everyone think it's sold out.....hmmmmmm how can every catagory free up on both sailings??

well i just looked at the prices again and they've gone UP again not down. It was only a small amount but the cabins are at their highest prices yet...so i guess that answers the question on whether they will revert back to a lower price....

I have a CAT 10...its almost up to double what I booked it for...wow...
