So last night, after a night of grocery shopping at Bj's and Shop Rite, the kids wanted top stop at Target. I was DONE, FINISHED!! I couldn't walk. DH talked me into using the motorized cart at Target. OMG!!! If I had known it was going to be so easy, so freeing and make my shopping trip more enjoyable I would have used one a LONG time ago!!

I've read everyone's post on here saying how easy and helpful they are but I was just too stupid and stubborn to use one!!

I will now be using one everywhere I shop!! I struggle through BJs - it's so HUGE!! Not anymore. I'm going to look forward to shopping instead of dreading it!!

I just wanted to post to tell anyone who is in the same boat I was - just do it!! You won't regret it!!

Thanks to all for listening!!

Kimba,

Believe me, I know how hard it was for you to finally bring yourself to try a scooter. I was the same way. Congratulations on your new found freedom! The scooters are also a wonderful way to be able to enjoy being with your family. I was cutting myself out of so much, but now I realize that it s what it is.

Again, Congratulations! :yay:

Steph

it is very very difficult to make that first step to using a scooter, even just in a store. I know how hard it is, and we are all so proud of you!

You've taken that first step and will never go back. Congratulations. It is so hard to get over that attitude that I am not disabled enough to need the help. Now you can get on with life and enjoy yourself.

YEAH!
Thanks for Sharing!

That was the same experience we had with my FIL. He had very bad hips and knees and suffered many years of trips to WDW with intense pain by the end of the day. He was to a point where he was basically walking from one bench to the next one.
The first time he rented an ECV was at Epcot. He spent the whole day at the park and went places he had not been to in years. But, best of all, when we got back to the resort, he said it was the first time in years that he had not ended the day in extreme pain.
The first time is the hardest, but once you've gotten over that hurdle, it will be easier.

Thanks Everyone!!!:goodvibes

I'm looking forward to my next outing and debating on whether to rent a scooter or use the wheelchair this coming Disney trip. It's pretty expensive and not really in my budget for this year. Something to think about.

It doesn't have to be expensive. Call around to the different places and compare. I did that and one place even saved me $100 or more over the other companies. If it means the difference in having a good trip and a great trip, it is worth it. I can't even fathom going to Disney without one, and we don't go to other places because I never know if one will be available, but I know they are always avail at WDW.

I am in that denial mindset like many of you. I have RA and my joints are getting way worse. I hope to visit WDW next year and I think I will take your advice and rent an ECV. Are they difficult to get used to?

NO! If you can ride a bike you can drive an ECV. It took me all of about 2 minutes to figure it out. I wish like heck that I could get my mother to use them in the store. She has severe neuropathy in her feet and uses a cain, but she just will not use an ECV. :headache:
