I cancelled our split stay portion at Animal Kingdom Lodge and opted for 13 nights at Wilderness. We decided not to rent a car this time, and since we spend so much time at the Magic Kingdom, staying at a MK resort only makes sense. With a double stroller, getting onto the boat will be so much easier.

I'm gong to keep my ears open for an AP rate at the Polynesian, but won't be counting on that.

Who did you cave in to? Hopefully this will not put too much a damper on your trip. I know that picking a resort is a huge part of the fun and excitement, and I would hate it if someone guilted me out of my choice. Hope that is not what is happening to you!:)

You know I decided it was just easier to spend the entire trip at one place too. We will be at VWL for 15 nights.

Although you have given me an idea...we spend an equal amount of time at the MK and AK. Maybe next year we can do a split trip between VAKL & VWL and just do our time at each of those parks while we are at their respective resorts.

Have fun on your trip!

By the way, when are you going to be there? I just saw your counter. We will be checking in to VWL on July 13th. We are driving and doing a few other things before we arrive.

You won't regret it. I will NEVER stay at AKL again, because it is so far away from EVERYTHING. DH and I stayed at WL last August and it felt like a home away from home. I didn't get that so much with AKL.

We liked AKL enough, but not enough to go back.

That was really it. AKL is just so far away from everything but AK. There are nights when my wife likes to take the kids back to the hotel and I like to go back to the MK. This way, it's a quick 5 minute bus ride or 10 minute boat ride. With AKL, it would be so much longer.

Plus, after having stayed at WL last year, I kept feeling as though I'd regret not staying there the entire time. By far, favorite resort I've stayed at, anywhere.

I love trying new resorts - but once I don't like to resort hop - it is just too much trouble to me - I don't even want to pack up my stuff to have it moved.....takes too much time away from having fun.

Exactly. That was another main point. When I check in, I want to unpack and that's it. I don't want to have to worry about packing things up, waiting for them to get to the new resort, worrying about losing things.

Been there, done that, ain't going back. Too remote from the rest of the world, we prefer the lakes and resorts by the MK, seems to us the best area on property. We gave AKL a try once, so-so experience but not like WL, to us the ultimate resort within pocket book reaches. Finely themed, great service, outstanding in the evenings, boat to CR, boat to MK or FW. Cast member are perfect and never a problem with the buses, we've stayed here at least 8 different trips.

Good for you. I dont think I would want to deal with the packing and unpacking either. I am just the opposite of most people on the boards I loved AKL ad hated WL, go figure. I think it was a matter of theming for me becasue the WL location is better for sure. It sounds like you made a great decesion:thumbsup2

Bingo!! Even though AKL is a beautiful resort it is sooooo hard to leave the WL once there!

We love WL, but, I have to say that if I had a choice of WL or CR, I would choose CR, because of the incredible view we had, but as far as the resort, we LOVE WL, the atmosphere can't be beat.

We have only done this once and once was enough. I hated having to pack up and move, especially having to leave such a great view at CR and then getting to AKL and being disappointed.

I couldn't agree more. And we LOVE WL. Only stayed there once, but fell in love and the convenience was fabulous. That was the first time that I had ever really wanted to spend extra time at the resort. All of the CM's were really friendly and helpful and always threw up a hand and said Welcome Home, and we really felt like we were at home. 8 times, I am jealous, but I will get to stay there again someday.
