Well Here's Where We Stayed..........

We still aren't home yet. We are soaking up some more sun in Destin Florida. I thought I would let you all know where we ended up staying. We had a great stay at the Polynesian concierge. We were there for 5 nights. We moved rooms the second day there because we got stuck in the GV room next to the service area. That room change was pretty easy. We checked out of one room and got right into another one. We then switched resorts to the BWV's and some of you might recall it wasn't as nice over there and I didn't know what to do? I thought about what to do and it drove me crazy. After 3 nights we decided to switch rooms at the BWV. We were out of a room for 4 hours and it was naptime. Well we got a much better Boardwalk view, but now we had saws going off We stayed in that room for 2 more nights and then I decided I wanted to go to the AKL like we were supposing to. I am so glad we did. We got there at 9:30 am and it was amazing The concierge staff is fantastic. We were only there for one night, but we only left the resort for an hour to go get DS's bday presents at that great toy store in DD. We all just love this place. We now know that we are only staying at the AKL and the Polynesian, although we might have to try the GF next summer when the Hawaii bldg shuts down. I know they are going to move the concierge to another building, but I don't think I will ever stay at a resort again when they are doing "enhancements" I'm working on a trip report and will post when we get back this weekend.

Wow! That was a lot of moving around. But, seems you took it all in stride. Glad it ended on a happy note, and that you enjoyed your stay.

mirlow, How did you like the pool at the AKL? I am thinking of either staying at AKL or polly next trip. Which do you prefer? which has the nicest pool? We stayed at WL our last trip. Did you ever stay there and if you did how do AKL and poly compare??thanks...corvair amy

I don't know if they are working on the BWI? I do know the noise we heard when we had a Boardwalk view did come from the BWI side of the lobby. They are doing a lot of work over at the clown pool, so you will hear noise and maybe smell some fumes when you are at that pool. The BWI did look like it had just gotten refurbished. It looks really nice. The parts of the BWV that had been done look great. The rest of it is need of the "enhancements" they are doing.
Covair, I love the pool at the AKL. The pool is a big factor for us. We have 3 young kids and I love the zero- entry pools and I like to be able to see all of the kids in one pool. How old are your kids? My 7yr old liked the Polynesian pool better, but my 3yr old loved the AKL pool better. They are both beautiful pools. I like them both for different reasons. I like the tropical feel of the Polynesian and the beach along with a great view of the MK. I like the space the calmness and the animals being right next to the pool at the AKL. The AKL has much better drinks at their bar. I love a Lava Flow at the Polynesian, but the AKL has a handful of their own drinks.
The Polynesian and the AKL our both great resorts. If I had to choose between the two it would be tough. I would probably go to the Polynesian just because the MK is our favorite park and we have the young kids who use a stroller and take naps. Can you split your stay between them? That is what we are going to do from now on. Start at the Polynesian and then move to the AKL. I have never stayed at the WL so I can't help out there.

WOW! I was wondering what you decided to do. Sorry about the construction at BWV's... is it just me or have they been working over there for over a year???
