Well doesn't this stink!!!

I had called yesterday to book 2 nights at the Poly for a little romantic getaway. I was quoted $566. more than I wanted to pay, but figured once the AP rates came out, everything would be fine. NOPE! Called today and only the concierge rooms are discounted, which of course is even more than what I am paying for a standard room. So now what????? I really want to escape with my hubby for our 20th, but that's a little more than I wanted to spend since this getaway was going to be during a 10 day family vacation.
Any suggestions of perhaps another place or someway to get a better rate?

The Wilderness Lodge is also a Deluxe Resort, and we just booked a standard view room for $114 a night. It's a beautiful resort, and very romantic. I know you'd love it.

I found AKL to be a great little get away. You're away from everything (or so it seems) in your own little African Savannah. And I believe it is one of the "cheapest" of the deluxes.

You could keep calling back to try for the regular room. Things seem to open up all the time (or try for a different set of dates in your trip window). -HM

I agree...call back. Book your second choice now whether it's Polynesian concierge, GF, AKL, WL or whatever and keep calling back.

Just so you know, Mousesavers is reporting the AP rate on Poly Gardenview to be $214 per night. So for 2 nights, including tax its going to be $477, not much of a savings, but still a savings. So, if you really want to do it and can't find availability keep your rate, since you'll only be saving $89, otherwise look for another place for your getaway. Don't worry, and definately don't think you should be

HI - I highly recommend the AKL or WL. Both are less expensive than the Poly. My husband and I especially enjoyed the AKL last year when we were there. It is romantic sitting out on the balcony with a glass of wine in the full moon lighting. I don't think you will be disappointed. Enjoy and happy anniversary.

phorsenuf - you mean you are paying $566 for two nights (or $283 per night) for a standard GV Poly room? Rack rate for this room is $299 -value $344 -regular and $404 -peak. Don't know when you are heading out but it sounds like you actually got a fairly good rate. You may want to try the AAA discount... its not much but better than nuthin'.

Like Cris said, that ain't a bad rate...
