pneumonia in both sides of the lungs. He has started me on biaxin, but will be switching antibiotics in a few days if the biaxin doesn't start to help. I am a terrible patient and have been told to lie low since I am very sick. I am bored already!

So.......if any of you have deep coughs and aren't feeling *right*, do go into see your doctor sooner than later. Now, I wish I had gone in earlier. I have only been sick a week though....but still, maybe I could have avoided pneumonia.

OMG! I am sure hoping you are feeling better soon. I am glad you went to your doctor!

Yikes. We have similar symptoms I think! But my cough doesn't SEEM bad enough for pneumonia. Well, I"m going today. Feel better!

Take care of yourself. Find a thick book to read, have someone go out and rent a bunch of movies, hang out with us!!

lmickeyboat.....thanks for the good wishes.

uvwinnie.......Definitely go see the doc today! No, I have no more than a very low grade fever (99.4). I thought I might have bronchitis........but NEVER EVER thought pneumonia. My doc was clearly concerned. So......I am very glad you are going in today!

experiment626mom.....I will definitely be hanging out with everyone here!

Some vacation I am having..........ha

I've been putting it off mostly because I don't have a fever...but I am on drugs that lower your immune system, so I can't fool around.

Feel better! I'll let you know.

Please do let me know. I was putting off going too.......and almost didn't go today since I didn't have a fever.......but I figured after being sick a week.........and the trend was still down, that I should go. You feel better soon. When is your appointment?

Glad you went in! That is something that you dont want to mess around with!

I had it a few years ago and had the same thing, just didnt feel right and had a bad cough, low grade fever. I went to the doc in a box and they XRayed me and it went down hill from there

hope you feel better soon!

What happened that it went down hill? How long did it take for you to feel better?

It took a while actually. I was feeling better in about a week but was tired for quite a long time.

I said it went down hill because of the diagnosis and they acted like there was a lot more wrong. Sorry I should have explained that better. They thought there was more there but there wasnt. I went through a battery of tests that day and that was all there was.

I'm just getting over it! Had the flu, then turned into pnuemonia - almost 2 weeks now since I started the antibiotics for it. I'm better, but still coughing and tired. It's hard to rest - but you'll need to rest as much and as long as you possibly can. I've hardly left the house in 2 weeks....
If you have pain in your chest when breathing, a fever, and any cough at all (it doesn't have to be a bad cough - in fact - some types on it you hardly cough at all) go in right away. It can go from somewhat bad to life threatening very quickly!

Twenty five years ago my best friend died from pnuemonia. She was on Martha's Vineyard during the winter, which is very isolated, with no car. Back then the only hospital was pretty bad - they sent her home and I'm sure she thought she just had a bad cold. Pnuemonia is nothing to fool with. Glad you saw the doctor.

AFmom......I am glad you are feeling better. I will heed your warning and make sure I am seen if anything changes. It is a bit scary, especially hearing how dangerous it can become.

luvwinnie.......no x-ray........I sounded bad enough that he was comfortable treating me as is.

disneylizzy........I am so sorry about your friend. I am taking this seriously and really want to get well sooner than later. I get asthma, so I am very concerned since my respitory system can become weakened.

Are you lying low???? :flower: :duck:

Sure do hope you feel better in the coming days, dumboiu, glad you went in to see the doctor.

Yep, Dan, I am lying low.......I have no choice........it was clear by my doctor's face that he was concerned. It isn't easy doing nothing, but I do want to recover soon. Thank goodness for the DIS!
