Well, after 114 days, 4 calls, 3 emails, 5 DMs, & 2 FB posts...I finally have a refund from Cunard

Just thought y’all would like to know! This was for a refundable deposit that I canceled back on March 13, two days before my PIF. Then, Cunard ended up canceling the cruise anyway.

I will NEVER book with them again. Atrocious customer service.

it’s not right but places like to keep the money in their bank accounts for a while so they get the interest on it. You figure how many other people they did this to comes out to a lot of $$$$$$$ .

WOW! Glad you got your refund!
I'm still waiting on Alitalia that canceled our flight on April 10th.
I have called 3 times and they say its coming, and that I'm not the only one waiting.
Gee thanks, just give me my money back.
My husband says its a lost cause. :sad2:

I'm in a similar situation with KLM. Hopefully they come through.
It's just crazy, when there are companies like Delta who refunded me literally the next day.

I once had Princess Cruise keep an OVERCHARGE (not a refund, they flat out messed up and overcharged my card) of almost $5,000 for over a month, and that was horrible enough. I can’t imagine what it’s like waiting for refunds for months. I’m sorry, guys

Yes, these are "contests" no one wants to "win!"
Do you have any sense if this is "normal" for Cunard? MSC is just being horrid to everyone. If you didnt book through the US site, no refunds only FCC (unless this has changed in the last month or so) and very few actula verified refunds to anyone. I know someone waiting well over 130 days, the fastest refund I have seen noted was at 48 days but that was someone reporting a friends refund. I think the fastest first hand account was at the 58-59 day mark, a few others have received just after 60 days. Most of us are well after the 60 days quoted in the request with seemingly no end in sight.

I disputed the charges 5.5 weeks ago and MSC has yet to contact the CC company. Although someone did just note that at the 6 week point their dispute was made final so that probably means MSC replied. A tiny sliver of a beacon of hope.

I would never tie up any significant amount of money with MSC again. If I could get a $200 pp or less leaving in a month or two rate I might go with MSC because I really did love their product but the constant changing of the terms has really turned me off of letting them have any chunk of money again.

Thanks for warning me off Cunard. Right now DCL really does seem to be one of the best in terms of how they are handling refunds. I know that's cold comfort to those that are awaiting word or a refund from DCL but trust, you could have it a lot worse.

Cunard is being eviscerated on social media. Seems this is their norm, at least for now. I only recently realized that carnival is their parent company, which explains a lot. :rolleyes1

We had KLM reservations on a canceled river cruise in April. We had to pay out of pocket for seat assignments. I asked for a refund of that April 7 and got the refund Apr 27.

We also requested refunds of future cruise deposits we had on Holland America & Princess. Called and asked for them to be refunded March 30. Both of them were credited back to our credit card 70 days later. Funny thing about that, both FCD were originally made on different credit cards, but they applied the credit to only one of them (for both cruise lines).

I don't know if my patience (no extra phone calls, e-mail, or other contact) helped or not.

Remember that you can easily dispute the charge with your credit card company. They'll likely credit your account while they investigate things with Alitalia. It moves the burden from you onto the bank, and it's a legitimate benefit they give you for using their card. Once they finish their investigation, I bet they'd either leave the credit in-place and tell Alitalia to cancel the refund, or they undo the credit once Alitalia issues the refund. Either way, it's the same (positive) outcome for you.

Might be worth a final call to Alitalia before you do that, though, just to let them know that you'll be disputing the charge by the end of the day.

Um not in these times. Whatever “ cash” a company Has that deals in travel, tourism are holding cash to pay expenses and their employees. Believe me nobody is making money right now on simply letting cash sit. Lol good luck if there is ANY cash. . These are not normal times. Other option is bankruptcy and good luck getting your cash back fast.

I called the credit card company and they are not taking any calls except fraud at this time, due to Covid.
So frustrating.
It's the Chase Sapphire card.

Can you dispute the charge online? I was able to do that with the Costco Visa (on a non-cruise related charge).

The argument against calling Alitilia is that they tell you they will take care of it by the end of the day but that it wont post to the CC for X, then you are waiting for X to pass before filing your dispute in order to be "fair" to this mindset.

If its been past the timeframe you were given or you were given an unreasonable timeframe (beyond 60 days), then it is time to dispute IMO. CCs were initially telling people 30 days was a reasonable time frame but they quickly upped that to 60 days just so that there werent a lot of nuisance disputes.

Ditto this. Filed online with Costco Visa (except it was a cruise charge). Id look for an online option if you havent already.

They told me 60 days at first, then said because of Covid it would be longer.
The flight was for May 23rd.

I'm going to check to see if I can do it online, thanks!!!

I have the Chase Disney Visa and I can dispute using the app. Not sure if Sapphire is the same but I just touched the charge to see the details and at the bottom it says Dispute Transaction.

Good to know. I won't book with them, either, after hearing about your troubles with them.

Has anyone had an experience with Crystal re coronavirus refunds? I'm considering cruising with them sometime, but only if they have good customer service.

Oh my gosh, I have the same card and I'd go crazy if they told me that. I filed a dispute with them about two months ago and it went through seamlessly. They might be getting swarmed with those calls now, but their annual fee is so high that they have no excuse for poor customer service. They might be more responsive if you send them a secure message on their website. Good luck :)
