I just woke up a few minutes ago and learned of the shuttle here at the Dis. This is so tragic!! Jodie, I believe Jay is in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

OMG...just waking up to this. It's just unbelievable!!! WE've become so casual about space missions, trying to send NSync members up there for goodness' sake!!!

I have to admit, piecing some of the early info together, I DID think some very sophisticated and timed insider sabotage was involved but I guess going up and coming down is all still a risky undertaking...anyway, unbelievably sad.




Oh Jennifer! I logged in just so I could get a chance to wish you the most magical trip!!!! I agree with Jodie, don't let this put a damper on all that exhaustive planning! Say hello to the MOUSE from all of us YaYas.

Jennifer, cute little picture of the girl's goodies. Are the little bags filled with things for the plane ride? I'm so excited for all of you...and I love the way you've shared so much of this trip with us along the way! Take oodles of pics to share with us! Will you be taking your laptop?

As for making today moving day.... sounds good to me! I'm all for it and will do my best to help get us moved. Should I start the picture posting before or after noon?

Amanda, I do hope the dr. appt. goes well and that an afternoon of shopping (Alone!?! Oh my! Wonderful!!) helps to alleviate some of the stress of the dr. appt. Have a great day!

Ummm.... *AHEM* .... Aunt Kim huh? Oh man... from Carrot Top to, uh.... THAT!! Ya know, actually...that looks NOTHING like me. Now ya'll know me well enough by now to know that if I really had a nose and chin like that, I would've been in the plastic surgeon's office like yesterday! Actually, that's not a bad idea, but I won't get into that today.

Jeannie, I guess I thought the total opposite of you (of course not to discount you, just my thoughts of course!!!). I figured it would have been just too tricky to do then. I figured if they were going to do something they would have done it at take off (slower and easier target). But landing is very tricky... one little heat tile (or whatever they are called) is damaged then the whole landing can be catasrophic I am commending the news for discounting terrorism (unlike usual actually). So I hope that everyone is right. My dad's comment though was that this might be the beginning of the end of space flights... we'll see. My heart goes out to all hurting.

Even though this makes me sad, I will try to help make this moving day as well

Hey everyone. Just checking in and saw the news. I'm about 20-30 minutes north of Dallas. I slept in today and woke up at 9am, about the time it happened, so I didn't see or hear it. This is unreal, especially with the 28th being the anniversary of the Challenger. That explains why my brother tried to call me around 9am. I didn't get to the phone in time tho....

This news is just soo sad.
I really think this was just a horrible, horrible accident. I really don't think this could be an act of terrorism. Of course, that is just my opinion.

Elaine....oh I hope that people don't start the "scrap the space missions" rhetoric....what a diservice that would be to those who have given their lives to make our lives better. You know there will be such talk....I just hope that the believers in space exploration will speak up just as loudly!!!
