Welcome to the first official announcement of The WISH Biggest Loser 7 Challenge. Here we celebrate our progress and recognize our superstars.

First some stats

Wish Biggest Loser 7 Week 1
weekly net loss 268.9 pounds
average percentage of weight lost 1.36%

What a great week we have had!!! WOW!! We have lost an entire person!! We had 5 people that lost 5 pounds and 12 that lost more that 5 pounds for the week. That is phenomenal!!

My biggest concern this week is my 25 losers that reported an initial weigh but that did not check in for week 1. That's 19% of our group. We are all adults here and I do not pester and PM to remind you about weekly weigh ins. I do need to hear from you every Friday. If you are late report your weight as soon as you can.

I also have 4 original participants that have not reported an initial weight. I have PMed them so that is all I can do. After no report for three weeks they will be dropped from the challenge. Our 2 excused participants are at WDW. They advised me ahead of time that they would be gone. Posting on the thread does not count, they let me know with their weight report.

Before the weekly superstar list comes the disclaimer. I am human and I make mistakes. If you have any questions please contact me. For your reference this is the magic percentage of weight lost formula - weight loss for the week divided by weight for last week times 100, that gives us the percentage. Now let me test that with my numbers for week 1, click, click, click goes the calculator. Yes, that agrees with the percentage on the magic spreadsheet.

Now let's get to the good stuff. Who were our superstars of week 1? Maybe you. I usually just do a top 10 but since our numbers are so large I decided to recognize those with percentages over 2%. That criteria may change from week to week. Hey I'm in charge here and I get paid nothin' to do this so you better take what you can get!

Week 1 Biggest Loser!!

#1-3.64%-goofymatt-Matt

Congratulations Matt!!! What a great week you have had. Keep up the good work sir. We have a very special clippie reserved for our weekly Biggest Loser. I'm sorry Matt but it is still under construction. When it is revealed the address will be PMed to you. You have earned the right to display it this week. Add it to your signature if you'd like. You are welcome to flaunt it until next Tuesday when the next Official Announcement is made. Enjoy your reign Matt!

Now ladies we have a small percentage of men here and we were beat in week 1 by a man. Yeah he has all that genetic advantage and all that crap but can we sit back and take this? NO we can not. Sorry Matt, Steve, Jeff and others(?). Jeff is new this week and will probably be busting the ladies also next week. I am so used to having all lady losers. We are the majority here but I am happy for your success this week gentlemen but it is on like Donkey Kong. Sorry, getting a little carried away again. I better move on.

Let's ALL get losing. How is your week going? Are you OP (on program)? Are you exercising? Drinking that water? You know what to do to make the magic happen. Get on the wagon. We are all here to help you on the journey. We can do this one day at a time. One bite at a time.

Have a healthy day!

OK, it's 2p.m. here in NM and I'm still on the wagon. So far today slimfast, a smoothie, lt bread, cucumbers, tomatoes & 6 green olives. Means I still have 1/2 of my points left. But, I have the urge to graze and my bloodsugar is doing a dance as I've been feeding my body SO MANY carbs lately it's in withdrawel. The next 3 hours are always the worst for me. I can do this! Jillian would KICK MY BOOTY if I caved in again!!!!

WOOHOO everyone! :) great job and congrats!! ( i am sad that i was just below the cut off this week at 1.95%..guess i will have to try harder next time ;)

goldcupmom hang in there don't let the next three hours undo all the good things you have done today!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

Congrats to all you BIG losers! Watch over your shoulder though! :scared1:

Congrats!:yay: to our weekly Superstars! Great Job! And Fantastic job to everyone who joined and continured with this challenge. I know this time of year leaves me wanting to eat everything in sight and then hiberate.....

One thing others might not know about me is that I'm an identical twin and that I got scuba certified last year.

It's really interesting to read about everyone's week (and weaknesses) as well as getting to know each other little by little. I've had an especially hungry day today and I keep drinking decaf hot tea to fill up. I, too, am really struggling with the 4-7 pm hours as my worst self sabatoging time.... Trying so hard to do something else so I don't graze.

Have a great evening everyone!

I am a twin too and I also live in jersey. What exit on the parkway? I am at 105 (It's a jersey thing:rotfl: )

Tuesday Question of the Day: What is one thing you don't think people on the DIS know about you that you would like to share?

I am a needlecraftsman. I do all sorts of needlework from knitting to sewing to quilting and have been using these skills with ds's school for the last 8 years . They have both graduated but I am still working on the costumes.

ALso I have an identical twin sister.

Brenda - Thanks for all your efforts in tracking these stats! Its a lot of work, and luckily you seem to enjoy it.:cool1:

Now for Tuesday's Question:
Most of you on this thread, don't know that I love to sew, but don't have a lot of time. When we travel to Disney I use that as an excuse to see outfits and become a matching family. For MMNSS halloween part, we were all royalty from Canada (mostly red satin with subtle maple leafs). On the PC cruise, we had matching outfits for tropical night, matching Pirate outfits, and I made DD3 and DD6 Ariel and Tink sundresses for arriving on the ship. Because its Disney, DH goes along even though he really didn't like the flowery tropical material he had to wear.

Tuesday Question of the Day: What is one thing you don't think people on the DIS know about you that you would like to share?

I absolutely love BBC miniseries. Pride and Prejudice and Wives and Daughters are my favorite. I put these in the DVD player when I clean the house.

Have a healthy day!

Woo Hoo. Here's a :woohoo: and a:yay: and a :thumbsup2 for all the BLs. Way to go guys. Dawn!!! I had no idea you were here too. Good to see you. Congrats to all of you. Well done.

And an oh so special :dance3: and  for Matt!!!!! Good for you BL!:lmao: Well done sir.

Way to go guys. Thanks so much Brenda for everything that you do. And thanks to all of the BL leaders who share their valuable time.

Lisa

Congrats to all the biggest losers this week! And, great job, Matt! Brenda, thanks for compiling all the stats.

I went to the gym today and felt great when I left. I also convinced my sister to do a little Biggest Loser Challenge with me...the winner gets a babysitter for the weekend. I have to win because my sister has 3 children - ages 5, 3 and 1 and they're a handful. We've set the end date for 7/10 and the person with the biggest percentage of weight-loss is the Biggest Loser. Just another push for me to stay on track.

Congrats again, everyone!

What I want everyone to know is that I have done this before and I WILL do it again and it WILL be a permanent change. After going through one of the worst times in my life I am a new person. I get up every day grateful for the new day even if I know it is going to be a tough one! I am a newlywed and a first time grandmother, whew what a year 2007 was!! LOL!

The "diet" (hate that word but for lack of better) headaches have started but will subside in a couple of days. I got both liters of water down yesterday. Whoo Hoo!

We can ALL get healthy just focus on the positive. Every success no matter how small is HUGE!! :cheer2:

Now you sound like a very determined woman- LOVE IT!! You keep that attitude up girlie! After my day today, I'm gonna need some big doses of you!!

I am happy to say, however, that I went to the gym last night (in a heavy snow!); however, I have my "pusher", my dd11, who had a swim team practice. I had not worked out in about three weeks, with the holidays and all, and I could certainly feel a difference in my endurance on the treadmill. Still, it felt really good to do it! My plan for the next few weeks is to sign my dd11 and ds9 in programs that forces me to go, then I have no excuse not to work out! Now to get the eating strategies planned out:rolleyes1

Have a great day, everyone!

Laurie

P.S. Melanie C, I was out snowblowing this morning in 18 degree weather (it is now about 10 degrees). Yep I was shivering! (how many calories?lol)

It's a balmy 1.6 degrees right now..... 18 is like a heat wave around here!! :lmao: :lmao:

You're so lucky you have your kids to spur you on! Mine are all grown and out of the house. I need to borrow someone's kids...... anyone have kids for rent???

Hi everyone!

I have been MIA. We went to Disney this weekend and did the half. I was slower then I wanted to be, but I finished.... which considering the fact that I was on a new "low calorie" diet the two days before I am grateful for. (I managed to get sick Wed night, Thursday I had "one" meal. Friday I had one Luna bar, half a chicken sandwich and half a serving of mashed potatoes. I did push fluids like crazy, but I was still not doing well on Sat)

  CONGRATS ON FINISHING THE HALF!!!  That is such a major accomplishment! AND ... you finished it even though you had been sick a few days before?!?!? YOU ARE WOMAN- HEAR YOU ROAR!!! I remember when I did the half in '05...... it was tough, but so worth it! I'm really, REALLY proud of you! WTG!!

The one thing most people dont know about me is that I am addicted to All My Children. I DVR it everyday, and watch most of it while I am home for lunch. Just ate a Lean Cuisine while watching Annie act crazy! :lmao:

I'm a DOOL girl, but haven't watched it for a while now. Maybe I'll take up watching AMC- it's just so hard to get up on the story lines sometimes!

OK so bread is a weakness. I told you I would not eat any rolls and this buffet has fabulous home made rolls. As soon as we sit down the waitress asks if we want rolls. The other three ladies say 'sure'. A basket of 4 rolls arrives. I stare down those rolls and declare to myself that someone else will just have to eat mine because I promised not to eat any. Now I am a charter member of the clean plate club and at the end of our meal there were three rolls in the basket. A roll begged me to eat it so it would not be thrown in the trash but I REFUSED and the three sad rolls were left in the basket. I WIN!

I had my salad, I had my fish, I even had green beans and not half a plate of macaroni and cheese. I had a few carbs, but just a few and a regular serving of dessert not a supersize. I also passed up the ice cream because we all know that stuff doesn't really have any real milk in it at all. I WIN!

Thanks for the encouragement jimmduck-linda and philbenjc-Juanita. I did it with a solid plan and my WISH buddies help.

WOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO- you go girl! You have come.... and you have conquered (the buffet with the really excellent homemade rolls) YOU RULE!

Guilty :sad2: ...... I was out of town last week. BUT.... I promise I'll report in this week. It's Friday- right?

is this closed?

I don't think this is closed. Is it ladies and gents???

njmom23girls, my DH wants me to get Scuba certified (he is) how difficult was it? I am a water rat but the weight has slowed me down - no excuse after it is gone.

runswithscissors - Love your screen name I laugh everytime I see it! WTG on the sister challenge that'll be great incentive! Good luck!

karebear1 - c'mon over girl I'll give you all the attitude you need!! LOL! My babies are grown and gone too. I really miss DD she was known as the food nazi and once smacked my hand for trying to eat a cookie. Stay focused!!!

OK losers let's get our game on!! Keep working hard! :yay:

Aha! Got one early:) My name is Susan and I am a cataholic. I have 13 rescues all vaccinated/fixed, under control and loved. I used to volunteer everywhere which developed into said pride. I also trapped 3 of mine as kittens, and one just gave herself up to my husband in the same area about one step from death.
those who don't think cats can help you be more active has obviously never boogied to big band music with the cat teasers in the living room (add bubbles and balls and you have yourself a party). Also scooping 15 litter boxes twice a day doesn't actually kill you but make you stronger (if you do it right;))

I love cat's - I have two babies :)
DH would kill me if I had any more. I just love a purring cat!

Sad to report that yesterday afternoon was again out of control with food. I HAVE to get this under control. Exercise is no problem. did a watp tape and my ab stuff. It's just the FOOD!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you and me should join up and be one person - I have the eating down right now - It's exercise for me, lol
Hang in there - one day at a time. You have the exercise down. Sometimes you have to take it one step at a time.

My parents are both from Latvia, they came over in 1950. I grew up in a 3 generational home (with my maternal grandparents), and LOVED that!:thumbsup2 From all of this I speak Latvian and continue many of the traditions that I learned from my parents and grandparents.

Interesting observation: I got called in last night, and got home a little before 1am. I was tired, but still "charged up" from work so I relaxed a bit in front of the TV. I was very hungry, had a small snack, and went to bed. This morning I found myself much more hungry than usual. I guess it is true that when you don't get all of the sleep your body needs, then it does crave food to compensate. At least I am not on call tonight, so I can watch BL and then hopefully sleep good!

Very cool family history - I totally agree that when I don't sleep properly, I'm definately more hungry.

That is something...I am a princess. My great great grandfather was heir to the Lithuanian throne. His whole family was killed when Russia began conquering the area, but his nanny managed to smuggle him out of the area. He was the only one of his family to survive. It is sort of a family joke that if Lithuania decides to go back to monarchy rule, we are the first in line! ;)

WOW - That is an awesome family story. Amazing to think how many people wouldn't be around if they hadn't smuggled him out of the area. I traced my mom's family back to the early 1600's coming over from England in Virginia. I got stuck there.

I have done pretty well so far with staying OP. I did go out last night with some girlfriends and I kind of induldged myself but the day before I didn't eat at all.....very stressful day  I think I made up for it last night.

I need to be better about logging my water and staying on top of it. I have been drinking it just not been good about tracking it.

Today WILL be a better day for me food wise.....I have no leftovers from last night to indulge on....LOL!

As for today's question of the day.....

I worked for the Disney company for 5 years. I am very passionate about all things Disney......I am a collector of Disney wall art.....and my children are donned in Disney clothing almost too much!!

Have a great day ladies!

Good Luck Brenda at the buffet! You can do this.....can't wait to hear your great report when you get back!

Juanita

Hang in there - one day at a time. Take it baby step by baby step. One meal doesn't make your diet.

MelanieC - thanks for the Oprah snips. I can totally relate to the hiding and fibbing on the weight. Two years ago when I dropped 80+ pounds I spent NYE wearing the much anticipated "little black dress" and I was on cloud 9. This year in my flannels I hid. BUT NO MORE!

LOL!

We can ALL get healthy just focus on the positive. Every success no matter how small is HUGE!! :cheer2:

Very powerful - Thanks for posting this. Hang in there with the headaches.

is this closed?

For me, going to the book store and just going through books is really a treat!:cloud9: Of course the closest one to me is Barnes and Noble, and if I'm not tempted to buy, I'm tempted by a Mocha Latte in the Cafe! Still, a hot tea and looking at the books in the comfy seats.....much more pleasant than the library!

My new love is browsing for books for my kindle. I can browse amazon for hours - now going to the bookstore is so much more fun - then I go home and find it online.

You and I make a great pair, Julie! Like Melanie C. said, I have to plan!

Hmm - It's gotta be ton............uggh 10 degrees!!

Did you know that taking 3 hours to jog the half gives you around 24 AP points on Weight Watchers???:thumbsup2

Did not do as well journaling my food over the weekend as I would have liked, just didn't have the PC on to do it! I don't think I did too bad, but not near enough veggies!

Today's question... hmm... Most folks don't know that I have dated the same man for 18 years with no wedding in sight. (Hey, if it ain't broke don't fix it! LOL!)

I am in California for work today. Going to go to the store tonight and stock up on "good" treats and food!

Have a good Monday!

Great job on finishing the 1/2. I did the Disney 1/2 in 2005 and it had such a profound effect on my life. I know I can do anything in life after acomplishing that.

It tastes much better than the junk I passed up on the buffet today.

Great job in conquering the buffet - YOU ROCK!! You had a plan and you executed it!

:cool1: I'm back from the World and didn't gain!! Yay!!
dare2dream/Brenda, oh, I am so with you on the bread! What an awesome feat to not cave in!!! :woohoo:
Now, off to catch up...:goodvibes

Woo hoo - Any tips for when I go in March?????
Congrat's on not gaining at WDW!

Let's ALL get losing. How is your week going? Are you OP (on program)? Are you exercising? Drinking that water? You know what to do to make the magic happen. Get on the wagon. We are all here to help you on the journey. We can do this one day at a time. One bite at a time.

Have a healthy day!

Congratulations MATT!!

My weeks is going great, so far OP. The exercise is not going good......but its on my list to jump start. I can do it, I know I can. Today I found myself walking in the hall saying - I can do this...........I can do this....... I can do this...!

OK, it's 2p.m. here in NM and I'm still on the wagon. So far today slimfast, a smoothie, lt bread, cucumbers, tomatoes & 6 green olives. Means I still have 1/2 of my points left. Jillian would KICK MY BOOTY if I caved in again!!!!

For those 3 hours - Can you bring a few nuts? I even find 7 grams of nuts or 14 grams of nuts make a huge difference in my ability to make it. If you eat them around 3pm, would that help? It's usually enough to give me that calming effect in my blood sugar that I can make it through the afternoon.

Trying so hard to do something else so I don't graze.

Have a great evening everyone!

That is so cool to be an identical twin. It's like having a built in best friend. Very cool. See the idea I gave above about the nuts. Possibly you could see if that works for the 4-7 time slot.

Good luck - Hope you win the babysitting!!

FYI - Allison Sweeny (BL Host) gave birth to a baby girl yesterday - according to Yahoo!

Woo hoo - How exciting for her. I wonder what she named her.

Today is going good (except still no exercising- uggh). I had vietnamese today, totally OP. I had it with grilled chicken. I just had the grilled chicken bun (rice vermicelli) today, so it was easy to work into my calories. I've had dinner and ended up around 1200 calories. Not planning on snacking tonight because I'm going out with a friend for lunch to Thai. I've planned on sparkpeople for me to have lemongrass soup, pad thai, steamed dumpling and a thai iced tea (more calories than I would normally have, but I'll make it work). I'm going to ask my husband if he will take/pick up my son tomorrow night so I can exercise tomorrow evening, if I don't get up in the morning. I plan on no extra snacking tomorrow to absorb the extra calories. I also plan on Thursday being around 1200 - so that I have a low day, a high day and a low day. Hopefully that pattern will average out and keep the average of the 3 days within the calorie range.

Yippee! I made #13 on the BL list! That's such a great motivation for me for keep this up until I'm at my goal weight.:cool1: Thought I'd answer the "something most DISers don't know about me..." question. In October of 2007, we adopted two teenaged boys (age 13 and 15) from Russia, which changed our family size from a family of 5 to a family of 7. Our church sponsors their orphanage, and one of the boys was our "sponsor child." We had been writing to him (and then his brother) for about 4 years when I went on our church's bi-annual mission trip to their orphanage. I had been feeling for over a year that they were meant to become our sons, and going on the trip confirmed it for me. My husband finally got over his shock at this crazy idea of mine, and also began to feel that this was meant to be. After 2 trips to Russia in 2007, we brought them home that fall. Our already busy life has gotten even busier, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. It was such a joy to take them to WDW last June...we got to experience "the world" through their eyes and it was amazing.
Julie

I think this is the one positive thing I can do for myself this week. I have a crazy 2 weeks coming up and if I don't get enough sleep I am worthless.

Have a great day everyone.

Good luck with your goal, and surviving your crazy two weeks!

good morning....did ya miss me? i have been pc-free all weekend. though it probably isn't a bad idea every now and then i did miss it. but now i have a computer that actually warms up in less than 10 mins and doesn't make a horrid whirling sound :thumbsup2

i did lose a little on friday's WI - my weekend wasn't my best. just keep swimming....

QOTD -- hmmm. i have decided to incorporate yoga back into my regular exercise weekly plan. i did 20 mins yesterday and really enjoyed it, the stretching felt wonderful. my back has been achy and i think yoga will help

there was no way for me to try and catch up -- sorry --

have a wonderful OP monday everyone

First of all A BIG THANK YOU TO OHMOM FOR MERGING OUR THREADS!!!!!!! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Next, we did miss you! And congratulations on the loss! :cheer2: Yoga sounds like so much fun, I'm glad that you are enjoying it. I hope your back feels better soon.

WTG on wearing that Disney shirt!! Isn't it such a great feeling.

Sorry to hear about your dog but so glad to hear that he's doing better. Maybe getting into bed early tonight will happen.

Sunday's Question of the Day: What is a non food reward you can give yourself when you make that first goal?

A new pair of jeans...the two pair I have right now are baggy but I can still keep them up. Really don't want to buy something until it is absolutely necessary. I did have to go and purchase a new pair of black pants for a funeral this weekend. I tried on things in my closet and they wouldn't have been safe to wear out (would have been afraid they would have fallen down:eek:). Thankfully I found a pair that wasn't expensive as I hope to not be in them too long either.

Monday Question of the Day: What is one positive change you can make this week?

I need to get in a couple of more salads throughout the week. A non-weight change I need to make this week is to get my desk de-cluttered, I can't find anything:scared1: .

I hope everyone has a great day, stay positive and focused!! :thumbsup2

I hear you on the cluttered desk! It is a huge challenge for me at school to keep things neat! (Don't ask about the current state of my apartment.) I like the idea of getting in more salads. Have you thought about healthy veggies that you could add to your salads to make them exciting and different? Beets are good on salads. I also like green peppers. I also like the idea of new jeans when you get to your first goal. That sounds exciting!

Sunday's Question of the Day: What is a non food reward you can give yourself when you make that first goal?

I'm planning on getting a Pedicure - I love having pretty toes and haven't had one is so long!

Monday Question of the Day: What is one positive change you can make this week? Pre-washing and prepping my salads and veggies - I might actually eat more of them if they were ready to grab n go!

Mmmmmmmmm, pedicure, that sounds divine! Prewashing and prepping salads and veggies is a great idea. I don't know aobut your living situation, but what I do is make several meals worth ahead of time and then freeze the meals in individual containers. (I live by myself so I just cook the whole package). Green Giant also makes individual serving sized things that you just pop in the microwave. The only bad thing is they all have some kind of sauce. However, they are still reasonable (1-2 WW points, or 60-110 calories.) You can also get precut veggies at most grocery stores now. If I know I won't have time, that is what I do.

Hi everyone! I just joined the DIS boards and am joining the WISH and BL7 threads! This is my first post, so please bear with me!

Monday Question of the Day: What is one positive change you can make this week?
I work from home, so it is easy to spend the day snacking rather than eating actual meals. I am going to the grocery store today with that in mind. Buying more things that I need to prepare a little, and less that I can just pop open and munch on. Also, I need to concentrate on getting a reasonable and consistant amount of sleep each night.

I'm really looking forward to taking this journey with you all!

I think that is an AWESOME positive change! I love how you are thinking ahead and doing what you have to do to change those habits.

Okay I am UP 4 pounds since last week because I went off Atkins and that happens when you go off of it.

The one positive change I have made this week is to join weight watchers. I lost a lot of weight with them many years ago and whats nice is there isnt anything I cant have.

One reward I can give myself that is non food would be a good book. Preferably JD Rob or Nora Roberts.

:thumbsup2 I do WW and absolutely love the new plan! I hope that you like it too. Those 4 lbs will come back off, no sweat. And I hear you about a good book. Maybe you can even read while you are working out. (Although, that is how I managed to break my hand on the elliptical at the Y, so take that with a grain of salt)...

Ok, this weekend was not good; celebrated my Dad's birthday yesterday and fell into old habits, namely snacking before dinner with wine. So, today, back on the wagon.

This week, I hope I can say my positive change is more exercise; we are supposed to get socked with snow and cold, and my tendency is to hibernate; plus lots of work stress to boot:scared: So, I really need to stay focused!!

Have a great day!

Laurie

Going off the wagon for one day does not a tragedy make. You will stay on the rest of the time and you will lose weight! Good luck with the exercise. I hear you about the hibernating. Is there a gym or something that you can go to? What about exercise DVD's, or finding an exercise bike so you can ride and while watching TV? IF you have a thrift store you might be able to find one on the cheap.

Sunday's Question of the Day: What is a non food reward you can give yourself when you make that first goal?

First Goal is 10% loss and I am planning a spa day. :goodvibes

Monday Question of the Day: What is one positive change you can make this week?

I'm joining the gym today!! :thumbsup2 Can't wait to start working out on a regular basis. I'm working with a personal trainer which will give me an extra push on days that I may otherwise have an "excuse" not hit the gym.

Weighed in this morning and am down 2.6 lbs. Go me!! :) Baby steps to my goal weight...

Good luck to everyone this week.

Sarah

:dance3: GREAT job on the weight loss! Go scissors! Go scissors! I love the idea of a spa day, and a personal trainer sounds awesome! You'll have to let us know how that goes.

Sunday's Question: Not sure what reward.....maybe a pedicure.....hmmmmmmm.......

Monday's question- My positive change is that I MUST STAY OP!!!! I'm having horrid food challenges!!

Today may prove interesting...DS19 came home from work last night with a nasty burn on the inside of his left wrist/forearm from emptying the soup out of the steam table at work...steamtable was too full. I full expect to need to make a Dr visit this morning to get some silvadene.

And, I'm still cleaning for my DNiece & her DH from FL who are coming on Friday to go snowmobiling. Are they NUTS??? I'd rather be in FL (1 hr from WDW) where they are!

I'm sorry to hear about your son. :grouphug: I hope he's feeling better today. Cleaning? Sounds like exercise to me! You can stay OP. We know you can do it! :cheer2:

Monday QOTD:

I'm with a few of you ... I keep saying I'm going to get more sleep. But I'm a night person, so I often have more energy after 11PM. :confused3 So this week I'm going to work harder on a more reasonable bedtime ... no more of this up until midnight stuff.

Have a good day folks. :)

It's hard to change your habits. Maybe move your bedtime up by 15 minutes to half an hour each night? I'm moving mine up by an hour each night. Baby steps. Baby steps.

Well bummer ... I knew I would have a bad weekend but I didn't think it would be THAT bad. *sigh* I'm basically back to square one where I was last Monday. My hard-fought 4 day loss was put right back on with 3 days of laziness and eating out since we were at a weekend swim meet about 2 hours from home.

Where the heck is that darn wagon and why did I let it run me over :rotfl:?

I love that quote at the end! I'm sorry you had a bad weekend. We have all been there. The important part is that you recognize the problem and you are going to change it! You will get back on track and stop beating yourself up over it! :grouphug:

Sunday's Question of the Day: What is a non food reward you can give yourself when you make that first goal?

Nothing really, unless I put a little money in my savings for that trip to Disney I want to take so bad for either April or my 40th BD in July!

Monday Question of the Day: What is one positive change you can make this week?

To try and focus on NOT saying this is a DIET and rather put in my head it is a healthier lifestyle period!

I'm not sure if I answered the question about the short term goal but I have a size 8 skirt that I purchased but have not been able to be comfortable in...Well, I wore it to church yesterday and it is just a tad snug but I was comfortable...so my goal will be for me to feel great in that skirt!

Looks like a lot of you guys already know one another...guess from many posts in the past??? Anyway, kind of new here and esp. to the WISH boards so looking forward to getting to know all of you; new and old.

My weekend was so-so. I did not exercise Sat. b/c I had not taken a break since New Year's Day. I did get 40minutes on the treadmill yesterday and about 35 minutes on the Wii fit and Outdoor Challenge. BUT, my husband wanted homemade chili and I did give in and have some... back on track today. My son loves my ribs so I promised him those tonight , with my homemade mashed potatoes (his other fav)...BUT , I bought a couple of sweet potatoes yesterday and I will have one of those... They are so good with just a tad of healthy "butter" spread and a drizzle of honey...makes a great dessert. And curbs that starchy crave at the same time.
Had yogurt when I first got up but getting ready for 3 scrambled egg whites. Lunch??? we shall see! Going to step class tonight that I'm looking forward to. Oh, and I've still been doing well with the water so I am going to keep that up.

One great thing that happened over the weekend was my daughter said, "Mom, you have lost a lot of weight." And she said her friend had made a comment. Gotta love those compliments!!!:woohoo:

Good luck everyone this week!:thumbsup2

That is AWESOME! It must have felt so good to hear your daughter say that. I think sometimes we don't always see it in ourselves, so it's nice to have that reinforcement. I hope you get that Disney trip!

I weighed in this morning and had lost 3 pounds! If I can maintain that this week, I will be happy.

Monday Question of the Day: What is one positive change you can make this week?

Add more exercise! I got on my recumbent bike last night and it was soooo hard. I'm going to add some time to that this week, while TV is on. And I will be keeping up with the Wii Fit. I've done 30-40 minutes on it lately.

:yay: Go Dancind! Go Dancind! Three lbs is awesome! I love your goal of getting more excercise. That Wii Fit sounds like fun.

Monday Question of the Day: What is one positive change you can make this week?

The positive change I plan to make this week is to increase my exercise. This past week I have had a lower back which is now gone. So I plan to add more Wii time to the walking I have been doing.

Sunday's Question of the Day: What is a non food reward you can give yourself when you make that first goal?

This is a tough one for me. I need a non food reward that does not involve money. Any ideas?

Hmmm. Are you a mom or wife? Maybe taking a day off and asking them to do your normal chores? Let them know in advance. What about a bubble bath or a day out with a friend? You could go to a park, or window shop.

You people talk to much!!! ;) As for me, I was down a little this week ( a lb or so I think), but I plan on being up by 4 or 5 lbs next week (yes you read that right). It is a requirement from my doc. Before you start a very strict diet you have to eat as much of the bad stuff as you want, enough to make you physically sick in fact. I start on his very restrictive meal plan on Friday, so this week I will be hog wild.

Saturday's question of the day: What is your first goal you are reaching for? (A smaller step toward your ultimate goal). It can be a specific weight, clothing size, behavior change, whatever you want.

My size 10 jeans. I can get them on and zip them up, but breathing is a totally different story and i dare not sit! I plan on wearing them by the end of the month.

As for the blood sugar issues, I am hypoglycemic and I know when I am having an attack as I have the incredible urge to cry. I will be in the car and just have to cry. So I feel ya! Hang in there!

As for COW questions

I got a few questions, so I will try to answer them all. My basic rule for COW is if you honestly think it fits the bill then it does. If you think caffeine free tea counts as water then count it, but don't delude yourself into thinking diet soda does. Pure filtered water is best and everyone knows that, you don't need me to lay out strict rules. The goal is that you will be drinking your water everyday for the rest of your life. The same goes for walking (and any and all other tasks I will present). If it is snowy out and you think a walk-away-the-ponds DVD counts as walking then it does. BUT BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF!

As for specifics though, I would like you to drink 8 8oz cups a day. This is what "they" say you are supposed to drink. When reporting you can simply tell me "I completed 5 days of water" or you can break it down and tell me day per day how much you drank. Your choice, but keep in mind, 6 cups one day and 10 cups the next day do not equal 2 days of 8 cups. We don't carry over here!

I think we all need to say thank you to raen for doing the COW for us! Could you explain more about your doctor's plan? That sounds... bizarre.

One positive change. Well, I started swimming at the place I just joined, I'd like to keep doing that and talk to my physical therapist tomorrow about some exercises I could do in the pool that will help my back. Swimming's a lot! I've been sort of side stroking, dog paddling, and swimming on my back as I have contacts I wear one monthly pair and am absolutely pathetically blind without them, I am trying to not get my face wet. But I'm doing it- I have done 20 minutes the last 2 days. One positive reward--going to see a movie, either a matinee or one at the $ theater. It would be really good to go see one I actually want to see regardless of critics...guilty pleasure.:lovestruc

Oh geez- I missed a question. What's one small goal? I guess to do at least minimal back exercises every day.

Swimming is such a great exercise. It's tough though! I would like to get back into it (used to be on a swim team) but I'm scared of how horrible I would be at it. And don't listen to those movie critics! Enjoy your reward movie!

Bringing my lunch with me everyday this week. I do this about 75% of the time. But doing so everyday will make it so the not so good fast food (or Pizza) is not so tempting.

Isn't it so much easier to eat health ywhen you bring your lunch? Maybe we should have a BL lunch recipe swap, hmmmm, that could be fun.
