Welcome to the WISH Biggest Loser 7 Challenge

I had a wretched week, and it showed at my weigh in. I maintained this week. I'm happy that I didn't gain, although I do wish I had lost some weight. Tomorrow is a new day and the beginning of a new WW week for me, and this week will be much better.

I think part of the problem is that I have just been feeling off all week. My blood sugars have been all over the map for no rhyme or reason. Literally the exact same meal (boxed up half of a restaurant portion) that sent me well over 200 for dinner had me at just 98 the next day for lunch. I keep going low during the day but tehn skyrocketing at night and can't figure out what the bleep is going on. It's getting frustrating and it's making me hungry all the time. I need to workout, but I'm scared to right now because I'm so scared of going lower. Argh! Oh well, this week I will stay on plan. I figure if I plan for exactly my daily allotment of points every day I can hen use my flex points to keep those unexpected lows or hungers from making me go over. I think I'm also going o try to find some healthy low poin snacks to keep in my purse so I don't have to rely on the vending machines. Any suggestions?

Congratulations Anne!

Hang in there - this week will be better!!!

It's really tough when your dealing with blood sugar issues. I don't have any Dr. intervened issues, but I do suffer from low blood sugar. I can feel when it starts to go low and it's horrible. I get mean, irritable, and shaky. But I don't have the kind of blood sugar issues that force me to go to the dr's. I think mine is definately hereditary. My mother had these issues and so did her dad.

One thing I try to keep with me at all times is nuts. I don't need too many of them - usually around 14g (which is just right below 100 calories depending on the type of nut). I can feel better within minutes after eating nuts.

When I feel like this, I feel like a chemical reaction is going off inside my body. Not fun at all. Hang in there - take it one day and one meal at a time.

The WISH Biggest Loser Challenge
Week 2 Biggest Loser!!

#1-3.11%-Maherae-Anne

Congratulations to all our loser's!! Woo hoo! We rock. And did you see that we as a group have lost over 400lbs. That is monumental. Just think of it!! Way to go.

I am having a tought time staying on target. I am already slipping into the pattern of not enough time to exercise. So I must keep reminding myself to make the time, because I am worth. And now that we've booked a trip to DL for spring break, I really want to have more energy for that trip. And more strength for lifting kids up to see stuff. ;)

Hang in there - Just take it one day at a time. You are worth it. I am still struggling with exercise, but luckily I'm doing the food right. I'm just doing it one day and one meal at a time. Yeah for booking your trip. Nothing like the motivation of a trip within a short period of time to get you moving. I think that is one thing that is really motivating me right now. I know I gotta fit in my shorts to go to Disney at the end of March. I must lose this weight, because I'm not buying new shorts. We can do this!! One day and one meal at a time!!

I CANNOT beleive that I made the list of weekly loosers, much less #10!:cool1:
This week has been a little harder, but this has given me an extra boost! It feels great, and makes me want to continue to work hard.:thumbsup2

We should all be very proud of ourselves. Every time we pass up cookies and choose an apple instead is a victory, even if we don't loose a pound. We are getting healthier!:cheer2:

Woo hoo on making the list. You should be so proud of yourself. I so agree on the passing up the cookie and eating an apple - it is such a victory. Keep up the good work.

QOTD: I like Mogolian Stir Fry because I can choose my own ingredients - namely a huge pile of veggies and light on the sauce. Genghis Grill even has brown rice.

Lately I've been finding ample inspiration in my fellow WISH teammates. One who was sticking to his diet even in the midst of WDW Marathon Weekend. Another who took a big tumble and finished the half marathon anyway. A third who is having some personal challenges at the moment but always has a kind word to build someone else up. These are just a few recent examples - there are so many more I could name of people striving to do their personal best even when it's not easy.

Yummo - mongolian stir fry. How awesome to have such inspiration from the others on the WISH team!!!

Oh, my GOODNESS!! I WISH you all could have seen me when I weighed in on Friday!! I absolutely refused to believe the number I saw..so I weighed again..and again..went to another scale...just could NOT believe it!! I have been up a little and down a little for so long, that to see a big loss was just such a SHOCK. All I can say, is keep plugging along, doing what you know is right, and the scale will finally have to acknowledge it!! Sometimes I WISH this was a scale the little guy was bashing..:badpc:

Being able to come here and read all of the great ideas has really helped me to stay on track..Thanks, BL'ers!! :grouphug: :goodvibes Anne

Congrat's - your loss was definately amazing. I'd love to bash the scale sometimes too - LOL!

I just got up from the dinner table and I was thinking of making a dessert that I found the other day. I told my DH that I can't make it because I would eat most of it and it would have a lot of fat in it. I also told him that I could not watch the BL and eat that kind of dessert. I kept thinking to myself that I have a commitment and I don't want to blow it. I'm going to go walk 1 mile right now before BL. Thanks you guys - you help keep me grounded - Lisa.

Great job on not making the dessert. Sometimes it is best not to temp yourself.

No way! #3 :cheer2: I needed some encouragement this week! TOM snuck up on me this month and I have wanted chocolate like crazy! Fortunately there isn't anything but diet hot chocolate in the house.

Isn't it nice when your craving something and you can't find it - it sure helps.

Congratulations to all of our superstars!! :cheer2: :cheer2: And to the rest of us let's give 'em a run for their money this week!!

Personally right now I'm very inspired by our new President, Mr. Barack Obama!! and I'm very hopeful for the possibilities ahead of us! It is so exciting to see how energized so many people are right now and I hope the energy will continue into positive changes for our nation.

I have also always found Mother Teresa to be a very inspirational figure. She was so giving of herself and I can only hope to be influenced by that attitude of service.

Hope everyone has a fantastic week this week!

Yes - Mother Teresa was a wonderful inspirational figure. I could kick myself that I missed one of her when she went to my husbands hometown -not too long before she died. She was one amazing woman.

Barack Obama is also incredibly inspiring and I'm ecstatic and hopeful for the future of our country. What an incredible day! We've made history, America!

So true - It's really amazing to think how times have changed. I'm so glad It happend during my lifetime. It really makes you proud to be an American.

 Hi all you Losers! I'm back from vaca and ready to get at this with more drive. I was going to read and catch up on things here but if I do that I'm never going to have time to post and exercise. So, I'll jump back when I can and move forward for now. Good news is that I did not gain while at WDW. I'll go with that for now.

Shoveled snow today for exercise and will get things organized so I can focus better. I'm going to set up an exercise calendar. I got doc apt and have to go to grocery store tomorrow. Ugh.

I'm so happy that everyone is getting together here to work on being healthier. Your energy is contagious!

Way to go everyone!
:cheer2:

You may want to seriously consider asking a doctor about that. You are describing me to a T. I finally got irritated enough to ask for advice on here about how to avoid it. I was told to see a doctor and low and behold it turns out it was diabetes! If you have the beginning stages of Type 2, you are insulin resistant. Your sugar goes high but then your pancreas overcompensates and you end up going low. I would really encourage you to get it checked out because the earlier you catch it the less likely you are to need medications or insulin and the less likely you are to have complications.

Not much time on the computer the past few days...have read the posts but no time to comment. I did however want to pop in and say WTG Maherae-Anne on such a great week. Congratulations to all the other losers too. If you maintained or gained this week, don't let it bring you down, use it as a push to help you this week. Keep up the great work everyone!!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

Wow! The Superstars Rock! Awesome! And Congrats to Anne! I thought you looked a little smaller at the Pop Meet, little did I know you were giving away pounds with those hats and gloves! ;)

TammyNC is right, we can all do this! Some weeks are tougher than others, but if you keep doing what you need to consistently (not every single time, but with consistency), we will be skinny Minnie/Mickey fabulous WISHers! :woohoo:

And as EeyoresButterfly said, if you think you might need to see a doctor, please go! My DSIL went for a routine mammogram and ended up having a very deep cyst removed. She would have never found it without the mammogram. So, whatever you might need, please get it! :grouphug:

Lily -- So great to see you here and at the Pop Meet! You are an inspiration to all of us trying to walk, wog, jog or run! :flower3:

MelanieC -- Yep, we are not buying new clothes unless they are smaller! I can't deal with the mental baggage of going up another size, so down is the only way! ;)

My inspirational figure is going to sound a bit shallow, but it's recent and it got me through...I am the WISH teammate Corinna was referring to who fell down during the WDW Half Marathon and kept going. It wasn't pretty, but I went down at a speedbump at the MK, and landed right on my chin and knees. The image that flashed into my mind to get me moving again was Paul Pierce, the captain of the Boston Celtics, who was carried off the court last year during a playoff game, and a few minutes later he came back and set scoring records. I figured if he could do that, I could keep moving. I finished much slower than I had intended, but I do have the Donald medal to show for my efforts. :donald:

I made a conscious effort to acknowledge everything I ate yesterday, and it helped. I also made myself do my scheduled workout, even though it didn't go well and I really didn't want to. I'm going to do the same today, and hopefully I'll have a loss to report on Friday. If not, I'll try harder next week. I have an issue with unacknowledged eating, and I need to take responsibility for that, as well as the get moving part!

Maria :upsidedow

Congratulations to all of the biggest losers! Especially ANNE! WAY TO GO!:cool1:

The next weekend will be my toughest yet. DH and I have tix to see Jesus Christ Superstar in Philadelphia on Saturday and then Sunday is the Superbowl. I think I'm going to get sushi for me while they eat the junk. I can do this!! After Jesus Christ Superstar DH and I are going out to dinner at Maggiano's Little Italy. I plan on having the mushroom ravioli, calamari and we will split a tirimasu. I am not going to feel guilty about this one meal, so I have to make sure all my meals around it are good and eat at my low end of my range for the few days before and after. I also would like to make sure I exercise quite a bit that weekend to help offset it. DH and I don't get time alone too often - so I'm not going to feel guilty. Life is about enjoying yourself sometimes and this will be one of those occasions.

You are so right about that! You have made a plan to allow yourself to enjoy a little treat, but you already have in place a plan to compensate, eat healthy and get some extra exercise is! Planning is the key and you got it! And YES, YOU CAN DO THIS!

I am having a tought time staying on target. I am already slipping into the pattern of not enough time to exercise. So I must keep reminding myself to make the time, because I am worth.
You ARE worth it! You see the pattern, and it is up to you to break it. Maybe try scheduling in some time, and then reward yourself for following through. Start planning that trip, it will give you lots of things to look forward to!:thumbsup2

A big :thumbsup2 and a :cheer2: and :flower3: to all the BLs. Good for you. a special :cool1: to Vija. Vija I love seeing you there.

Thank you for that, it really made my day!:goodvibes

I'm doing pretty good considering I am still sick. Yesterday I was on call again and worked 'till 9pm. I WAS STARVING by then and completely dehydrated. I ended up getting fast food and eating it on the way home. Not the greatest choice. :sad2: It kind of stinks not getting in my exercise and I am looking forward to feeling better and getting that in. At least I am not on call until next week Tuesday so I can hope for some good restfull sleep, if my head didn't feel like a bowlling ball...

I also just wanted to say I was thrilled to see myself in the top 10! I can't wait to share with DH! I know he will be so proud!

BL spoiler from tv:
Did anyone else see the preview for next week? It looked like the 2 youngest were going to be below the yellow line? Does that mean they've gone individual? That would be such a tough call.

Congrats to the top 20 for this week! Way to go everyone! Keep up the great work!

Eeek - I'm #14!! Congrats to all you losers! :grouphug:

This week has been good so far. I still need to get in more exercise, but I'm finding it easier to make healthy choices for my meals and limiting my soda intake.

I'm very glad to report that this lifestyle change is great for DD7! Once we started talking about healthy food, she's been much more aware of this when she picks out a snack. So far, she's done awesome -- only fruit, carrots, yogurt, granola bars, Edy's fruit bars, or multi-grain pretzels!

That is what they want you to believe at least...I am hoping that it is something challange related and not who to vote out/keep in.

And I can not BELIEVE that Joelle is still there. That girl annoys me.

New to the challenge and just wanted to congratulate everyone!!! You guys are very inspiring!!

As far as the last question, my kids definitely inspire me to be my best. Like many of you, I want to keep up with them and never feel to old or too overweight to do all of the things they enjoy.

I have to add that the other day my dd and I were talking about our next trip and our time at the beach....she went on to add how "omg" I wouldn't want you to wear a bikini!!
Well, I was surpised(though I don't know why, I have put on about 30lbs. the past few years). So I was on the defensive then..LOL...asking her "so you don't think a 30-something mom could lose weight, tone up, or look hot in a bikini?? She says "NO"!!....WHAT?? Did she just say that?? So, in my mind I am like "oh now it's on girlfriend!" LOLOLOL!!

All joking aside, obviously I don't want my dd to think that once you turn a certain age, become a mom, etc. that you become a lumpy old couch potato! I want her to know and see that you can do anything you set your mind to! Of course besides showing my dd that I can be "hot" again, I do want to show her "HEALTHY"! I want her to see me eating right and exercising...and looking and FEELING better because of it!!

I have been out of commission that last few days. My Internet at home has been spotty at best (really need to fight with the cable company), so i haven't even tried to go online since Friday and I was off Monday for the holiday and since I am near DC, yesterday was a big deal. But i am back to work today and semi caught up.

Saturday's Question of the Day: What is your favorite Quote that help you and that you use in your weight loss journey?
I don't have a quote, but whenever I need motivation i sing the song, "you can get it if you really want (but you must try, try and try, try and try. You will succeed at last)."

Sunday's QOTD:
What is your favorite "Go To" meal that you make yourself when you are in a pinch, or the family is eating something you can't eat?

Boca burgers or really anything I can throw on my George Foreman. I use that thing every night! My dh is areal meat and potatoes kinda guy and I don't eat meat (chicken and fish aren't "meat") so i tend to cook two meals anyway since he is not really a chicken or fish kinda guy.

Monday QOTD -
1. What is your favorite restaurant or type of restaurant (example -Japanese, mexican, chinese), for eating a healthy OP meal that you feel good about yourself when you leave knowing you are still on track when you leave.
2. What do you order?

I love Mongolian and there are a few really neat places that serve only organic such as this one

Rock Creek Restaurant

But my dh is not really a fan of either.

Tuesday's QOTD:
On this historic Inauguration Day, I thought I'd give a QOTD that reflects how many see Barack Obama.

Who is someone who inpires you and gives you hope.
This could be someone from History, someone living today, someone you know or even someone who inspires you to live your healthiest life.

My grandmother. She was a single mom in the 40s and 50s when it just wasn't done.

I have to add that the other day my dd and I were talking about our next trip and our time at the beach....she went on to add how "omg" I wouldn't want you to wear a bikini!
Believe me as a mother of two teenagers, you could be the hottest, most fit and toned mom on the block and she would STILL not want you to wear a bikini.

My DH gave me a great compliment last night. I was at my computer -DISing of course - when he came in talking to me. He looked at a picture I have of me and Eeyore from October 06, and said - "Wow look how much you have changed since then". I did the BL 6 challenge and lost 18 pounds, so my face looks thinner along with other parts of my body. It made me feel good that he noticed and it reminded me why I'm working so hard.

Keep it up everyone, we must do it for ourselves - Lisa.

Hi guys! Just checking in. Surgery went well. Recovering, not so much. It hurts to change positions. I've been in the office working and Dising for too long. I'm grabbing something to eat for lunch and headed back to bed. My husband has been AWESOME! (yes, I was worried...) I'm very surprised how much I am swelled up and sore... Also, the surgeon apparently used part of my c-section scar line for this incision, too... Wasn't expecting that. Have a great day!

QOTD - Wednesday:
Whatare your favorite treat's that are still relatively healthy?

I have a few:

Smoothies - My healthy version of ice cream when I'm looking for that icy cold treat.
chocolate peanut butter: more like a shake - 1 cup plain nonfat yogurt, 16g dark 88% chocolate, 16-21 g peanut butter, 1 whole frozen banana - blended
or blueberry - 1 cup plain nonfat yogurt, 7-10g almonds (gives a little crunch), 1/2 -1 whole frozen banana, 140g frozen blueberries
Mango Lassi - 1 cup plain nonfat yogurt, 140g frozen mango's, 1/2 or 1 whole banana, add honey or agave nectar if desired.
Pumpkin pie - 1 cup yogurt, 1/2 cup canned pumpkin, 1 frozen banana, cinnamon, walnuts (nutmeg optional)
or use any fruits, nuts, etc. and make any flavor you desire

My version of a Resee's peanut butter cup:

88% dark organic chocolate - choose your size based on calories left for the day, add anywhere from 16-32 g of peanut butter depending on calories left and put on top of chocolate. Enjoy!

crackers & cheese-
Organic Valley cheddar cheese with Woven Wheat crackers from Whole Foods -(like triscuits - but only ingredients is whole wheat and salt)

QOTD-Wednesday
I really must have something sweet at least once a day. They may not be the healthiest choices, but relatively healthy I suppose. I really like the "Quakes"..the tiny rice cakes in the caramel corn flavor. Also, when I must have a bit of chocolate I have one of the single serving pudding cups..they come in fat free!

Hi all you Losers! I'm back from vaca and ready to get at this with more drive. I was going to read and catch up on things here but if I do that I'm never going to have time to post and exercise. Welcome back from vacation, I hope you had a fantastic time. Great job on not gaining while at WDW. That is great news, and something to definately be proud about.

Yikes - I'll mention it to my Dr. I think they do test for that with my yearly bloodwork, but I know I haven't had the kind where you drink the yucky drink since I was probably 16. I think my bloodwork is always within the limits. Where I seem to have a problem if I go too long without eating. I'll definately check into it though. I thought Diabetes was only with high blood sugar and not low.

I figured if he could do that, I could keep moving. I finished much slower than I had intended, but I do have the Donald medal to show for my efforts.

I has to buy size 12 jeans to go to Vegas over Christmas. I was not happy about that. I bought 3 pair and it was not fun bying a bigger size - I will not let this happen again. My size 12's are now baggy - where they were a little tight during Christmas time.

OMG- I fell during the half marathon in 2005 at WDW. It was when we were going to MK, I fell as I was going down the hill underneath the bridge you cross under (hourglass lake). I was trying to take a picture of the Marathon sign. It was like a slow motion movie in my head. My hands went out and I fell going downhill like I was sliding towards home plate. Thank god I didn't hit my face - but boy was it a shock to my ego. I did jump right back up and everyone around me was so nice and stopped to help and one person gave me a band-aid. I refused to let it stop me and it actually gave me more motivation to push on. I was almost at the MK and I wasn't going to stop.

You are so right about that! You have made a plan to allow yourself to enjoy a little treat, but you already have in place a plan to compensate, eat healthy and get some extra exercise is! Planning is the key and you got it! And YES, YOU CAN DO THIS!

Thanks - Yes I CAN!!

BL spoiler from tv:
Did anyone else see the preview for next week? It looked like the 2 youngest were going to be below the yellow line? Does that mean they've gone individual? That would be such a tough call.

I'm hoping they aren't telling who loses the WI - they don't usually tell you that. They usually try to make you think something to confuse you. I'm hoping it is for something else.

Whoo hoo - Great job with your DD7!!

That is what they want you to believe at least...I am hoping that it is something challange related and not who to vote out/keep in.

And I can not BELIEVE that Joelle is still there. That girl annoys me.

I'm hoping the same thing -They usually try to make you think one thing and then its something totally different. Joelle urks me - but I understand why the other team did it. She definately needs it more -so that is true. The guy has his wife and they were in a place to motivate each other. Joelle and her partner are a train wreck. They definately need more help or they would go home and not accomplish anything.

The real reason I think Jillians team kept her is she is less of a threat. The other team can pull bigger numbers, is more motivated and is a help to Bob's team. Joelle will cause friction, pull the team down and not put up as big numbers unless she gets her act together. It made sense to me when I really thought about it.

This is what I want my daughter to learn too.

I love Mongolian and there are a few really neat places that serve only organic such as this one

I would go gaga over an organic restaurant. I would be in heaven.

Believe me as a mother of two teenagers, you could be the hottest, most fit and toned mom on the block and she would STILL not want you to wear a bikini.

Yeah my kids would be like NO WAY!
