Congrats!!! Very cool...I remember my BIL being extremely bummed when they left! DH thinks this is the world righting itself...and that there should be a team in Hamilton and two or three other Canadian cities.

Watched the press conference online, on tsn, and it was great to hear the news and whatever details they had. I grew up in Manitoba and was a big Jets fan, moving to Ontario in 95 and mourning the loss of the Jets in 96 as I continued to follow them, as much as I was able. Stuck with the Coyotes for a while but then lost some interest in pro hockey. We travel back to Winnipeg to visit family and so if there are tickets available, I am sure to attend a game if I can.

Go Jets Go! Ok, maybe it should be Go Winnipeg "whatever you will be called" Go!

I'm so happy that we are back in the big time.

My DW suggested to me that we cancel our trip to Disney World and get season tickets instead. I don't think so... but maybe a half season in cheaper seats. The only thing is we would have to commit to the seats for three years. What are your thoughts? of course this happens when I'm trying to save for our trip. Well I have until Friday to decide.

As far as Bettman goes when I see him all I see is a weasel. I can't believe he is still even part of the NHL. He was the one pushing to sell hockey in the southern states. Huge market yes. Huge hockey Market no.

This is the same guy who forced American franchises to subsidize Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa and Vancouver, all of which were in varying degrees of danger, back when the C$ was sitting in the low-to-mid 60 US cent range, but he's mercilessly pilloried as "hating Canada". Winnipeg left in large part due to the reluctance of its taxpayers to fund a new arena. Oddly enough, the same thing is happening to the franchise in Phoenix.
And say what you will about Gary the weasel, but NHL revenues have quadrupled under his watch. And being liked is not part of his job description.

The southern expansion isn't entirely a failure--the California teams draw well, and the Avalanche draws better than the Nords did...
