Has anyone attended a Welcome Home Wednesday recently? We'll be at the Boardwalk next week and since the Dance Hall is right there, we may go. Went to one a few years ago, just wondering if it was worth the time to go now...

Thanks!

I recently attended a Welcome Home Wednesday and did a live report just after the event. Here is the info. Enjoy!

After we left Beaches and Cream we walked around to the Atlantic Dance Hall near the Boardwalk Resort. The Disney Vacation Club holds a free event there every Wednesday at 4:00PM called Welcome Home Wednesday for DVC members. This was the first time we ever attended. At 4:00PM the doors opened and we were greeted with many welcome homes. We were given 2 cards to fill out with our name for prize drawings later. When we entered the hall the atmosphere was festive. The main stage had a game show setup with a very large TV screen behind it. DVC promotional videos were shown prior to the start of the game show. Complimentary snacks and lemonade were provided. The snacks included bags of chips, popcorn, pretzels and Cracker Jacks. I was surprised by the turn-out. There were easily 150 plus in attendance. After about 15 minutes of socializing and eating some snacks the hostess of the game show was introduced. Her name is Miss Dee Vee Cee. She is the first lady of the Disney Vacation Club. She ran the game show and later would draw for the prizes for the event.

I thought this event was nice and I'm glad we did it. It's not something I will run back to; however, I'm very glad we did it once. It was well worth it since it rained the entire hour we were in the Atlantic Dance Hall. It was our way of staying dry.

Here are some photos of the event.

The DVC game show in action. The format of the game is very similar to Jeopardy with DVC questions and answers.

If you have some free time -- go. It's an okay event that is based on a "Jeopardy" theme where three contestants (members) are picked from the audience to answer questions about DVC. They also give a few prizes to people watching or helping with answers and I believe there are a couple of door prizes. Each member of your party will also receive a DVC logo item for attending. Last I heard it was the AKV bucket hats that fold into themselves to create their own carrying pouch.

ADP beat me to the punch...and with visuals to boot! What a guy. :goodvibes

I did it when I stayed at the BCV, and I'm glad I did, but don't have to do it again. They gave out DVC baseball caps, and they are a nice quality.

I was surprised at how many were in attendance, yes, around 150+ when I went too.

Bobbi ~ There was a full house when I went as well. Even though they've been doing it for a couple of years now it still seems to be a popular event!

It was a hot day, and the a/c and the lemonade made it a refreshing break. It's also nice to see so many DVCers, to strike up a conversation. Meeting other members was a huge reason why we enjoyed the Member Cruise we were on. I do like member events, and wish I could get to one at Christmastime, but they always seem to fall on a day we're not there.

Hey, nothing wrong with some free food and a cap. We have also won a couple of pins by answering correct questions from the audience. Ms. DVC is getting old and tiring, though. We have attended several of these events.:cool1:

Too bad they aren't having something similar to Summer on the Savanna this year.

That was a BLAST!! :thumbsup2

Welcome Home Wednesday was cute if it is your off day but not cute enough to rush back for.

My family really enjoyed the summer event too...I was sorry to see they weren't going to do it again this year. :(

Hi,

We were also at the July 16th WHW (and loved looking over the photos). Yes, it's a fun time, but I'd suggest getting there early for the Cracker Jack - it was all gone by the time we got there. However, there's plenty of cold lemonade and water, and chips & pop corn. As mentioned, they also gave caps to everyone, which was nice.

I happened to win one of the larger prizes, a complimentary photo session at SSR for our family. It was a great surprise, but there was one little problem - we were checking out the next morning. Thankfully the gents at SSR's photo desk were able to fit us in that following morning, after we had called Bell Services to take our luggage. Nothing like a hectic departure day, eh? :goodvibes

Hey! That was you? Congrats to you guys! Were you the fam who won the photo session and the other prize as well?

Hi - yes, that was us! Actually, it was funny, we won both of the photo sessions. First I won and then they drew one of my DS's names. He was pretty embarassed to go up there and the whole time I was gesturing to the Ms. DVC's co-host that we didn't want both photo packages. They let him have a gift bag instead, which was very nice - I hadn't wanted him to also get a prize (didn't seem too fair).

As my wife later said, both our DS and I had horse shoes strategically located where the sun doesn't shine! :rotfl:

You guys are so lucky. It was nice being in the Atlantic Dance Hall during the rain.

Hope the photo session went well!
