Has anyone attended this event and care to share your experience? The member site doesn't provide that much info on it. We're headed home next week and are undecided if we should take time to attend. Anything for the kids?

...There's such a long walk down the boardwalk to Atlantic music hall... I hope it's near the elevators. :rotfl2:

I've been twice. It's , well .....dull! I went thinking I may learn something about DVC but if you'r on the Dis asking about Welcome Home Wednesdays , you won't learn anything new there.

If you had absolutely nothing else to do, and wanted to waste some time or you wanted a free baseball cap then go. If you think you dont need a baseball cap or you wanted to double check the top 7 things to do in WDW on the tv I would not go.

This is of course just my humble opinion !

My DH and I went twice as well. We showed up at the very end the first time and it looked okay. The second time we stayed for the whole thing and it was dull! A few prizes were handed out - coffee mugs, maybe a keychain or two, etc. I had more fun a few years ago when they had a member event at DD. I can't remember the name it was called or what club it was at, but it was SO much better than the event at Atlantic Dance. I am guessing that Disney just wanted to utilize the Atlantic Dance hall since NOBODY seems to go there and perhaps they were hoping that if they introduced the hall to DVC members then we might want to go at night.

I didn't mind it. We were at WDW for a 2 week stay and went twice. We received some free items, hats and a couple of things, and refreshments. But IMO, Summer Block Party was much better.
I read about a Summer on the Savannah Party too, but don't see anything on the website about that anymore. It is suppose to be this summer outside the International Gateway entrance to Epcot.

I just went last Wednesday and I had fun. Must have been because I was one of the four members chosen for the DVC trivia game. I won a DVC stool/cooler combo. And everyone there was given one of the 15 yr DVC caps. They also pulled cards from the box (you filled one out as you came in) and gave out other gifts (DVC towel, DVC mugs, etc).

The whole point of the trivia game is to tell the members in the crowd about some of the perks/trading/info about DVC. So if you are a long time member, it will bore you to tears (unless you want the free cap). But, if you are a newer member, it's an opportunity to find out a little more about DVC.

I went to one of the member meetings at OKW years ago and at SSR about three years ago, and they were boring. Just slide shows with info about all the places you could trade out to. And they'd pass out a DVC sticker to every member there. Welcome Home Wednesday was a little nicer.

We went in March and enjoyed watching the trivia game. Really liked receiving the DVC cap!! The Cracker Jacks thrilled DH- one of his favorite snacks.

Most of all we found out there were points available at OKW. We did an add-on the next day!!

Does anyone know what happened to the member Block Party at DTD? We went last year and it was a lot of fun. Haven't heard anything about it for this year though.

you wanted to double check the top 7 things to do in WDW on the tv

The woman who hosts that Top 7 channel is named Stacy. I found her to be in the Top 3 most annoying people ever. They just threw her on various attractions and had her spit out various combinations of the words "radical," "extreme," and "awesome." I would wait up to three hours in line for an attraction where I got to smack her.

This year it's Sumer on the Savanna being held Thursdays in Aug at the IG. Forget the time but it's on line. I'm looking forward to it, this will be my first DVC event since we usually on visit during the slower season.:beach:

It is kinda boring /cutesy, but I wanted the ballcap, so we went. And I won the DVC umbrella!
