I'lle be in wdw soon and I am wondering if those DVc meeting ( welcome home wednesday ) are still on ?? are they weekly ?? where exactly and can we just show up ??
I might be interested in going

We just went last week. It is at 2PM at the Atlantic Dance Hall at the Boardwalk. You can just show up. I found that many people had come early and the tables were almost full. They did a game show and gave away prizes. That was about it. I thought there would be more mingling and meeting other DVC members but it was just the game and then everyone left. I can now say I have done it but I won't do it again.

I would not do it again either, I was disappointed to find that it is hosted by DEEVCEE. I find the character extremely annoying and I am constantly irritated that DVC/DVD believe that this is what the average DVC member is looking for. I don't want to berate the actress, by all accounts she is a very fine one - it's just the whole concept.
I felt the whole time I was being talked down to. My DH said he would be embarrassed to take my parents there.
Why they can't have a meet and mingle with Disney/DVC news is astounding to me. I think this was a Jim invention though, maybe Claire will fix it. I loved that there was no DEEVCEE in the last Disney Files.

Some love it some hate it. We liked it plus free stuff and air conditioning. Go and check it out yourself. Just be aware parking is a serious issue and be ready for a 10min walk to and from the car.

We love it. Actually, my DH loves it. Loves the corny jokes and game show. I love the ac and snacks/drinks. We've gotten a new DVC hat every trip and this last trip won a door prize.

Try it once and decide for yourself.

DH loves it, I can take it or leave it.
We haven't been to one since they changed to 2 pm...........harder to fit into the day, but we have a couple Weds. this next trip, so we will probably go.
He does love getting the hats. We did win a door prize once, but couldn't use it, so gave it back.

We have been to a couple. If we aren't staying at BWV's we don't even consider going. Even if we are at BWV's we don't change any scheduled activities to fit it in.

I don't consider it informative for DVC'rs that frequent Disboards or other on-line communities. Most of the information (other than the trivia) is already old news by the time you get there.

Having said that, there are draws for free stuff and everyone usually gets a ball cap at the end so it totally isn't wasted time. My dh can be a character at times and has managed to be chosen as a contestant. The gifts for that were also quite nice.

I agree that the Dee Vee Cee aspect is annoying...

We go if we're at BCV or BWV. We're usually at the pool at that time of day, anyway. It was quirky and fun, but definately nothing I'd make a special trip for. (Just like I enjoy playing bingo when they do it at the pools, but I'd never schedule a day around it.)

I like it for the same reason. Normally, wed is a shopping day at DTD, WHW, and then early dinner at the Boardwalk. When they changed the time, we changed dinner plans. This year, we are doing evening EMH at Epcot with a 8:00 AM ADR, and are planning to use WHW as an hour air conditioned, sit down break and a hat. DW has won a gift card to Curl (?) @ DTD and oldest dd won audience pin.

I haven't been since it's been changed to 2PM. I will be at AKV solo for a week in June, and do plan to make it over to BWV for one that week. I've made a few friends at these gatherings!
