Welcome Home trip booking range?

Does anyone know if there is a specific time range/distance in the future you are eligible to make your WH booking for? The email from our guide mentioned to call for help booking our first trip in the next 6 months, but I didn't know if that was an estimate or a hard window (like the 11 mo/7mo booking windows, for example).

For context: we are currently holding a different reservation for Marathon Weekwnd in January, but want to cancel/ switch and use our points instead now that we are members. Am I going to need to wait until exactly 6 months before the trip to call MS or might they be able to help me now?

The purpose of the welcome home booking is a way for new owners to get something that could be hard to get because it’s well within the window as you learn how to navigate booking.

My guess is they are adding that language as a way to temper expectations. However, I would not wait to do it, because they don’t hold things back and the longer you wait, you could risk being shut out.

My guide put a hold on a room for me last weekend when I signed the contract. I already had a room reserved for cash in October.

Of course my trip was less than 6 months away but I assume they took a cash room and let me use points for it since there were no DVC rooms still available for my dates.

Thank you. I just called. The dates weren't a problem but there were only two resorts available to choose from (neither high on my list) so it wasn't quite the outcome we'd hoped for, but better than nothing.
