Will DVC try to work their magic and book you the room you want if you're already a member and add on direct points? Or do they only do this for brand new members? Thanks!

Actually this recently changed. I bought a fixed week and then later 200 more points at PVB and had welcome home reservations booked for each of these new contracts even though I became a new member with OKW last year. Still don’t know if this change was specifically for new Poly contracts, but this change was assured by the guide. When I called member services, they had to confirm with supervisors about the change before they would book the reservations.

Thank you I'm going to try to work that out with him before agreeing to direct since we have a trip planned for September and it would be great to get into something that may be harder later (**BCV 🙏🙏🙏**)

They won’t promise anything specific at this point…and they can’t, because inventory changes all the time. It is also possible that the “welcome home” policy changes over time, and it is not in the contract so not guaranteed.

In short, it’s nice if it happens, but it might not.

We shall see!

Be aware that they really can’t do this for sold out resorts even for new buyers because all rooms have been declared and booked by owners.

It’s the undeclared inventory that can be made magic…like PVB tower and RIV…since DVC can pull that inventory.

Okay I guess I'll settle for PVB tower (*sarcasm as I would love to stay there!* 🤣🤣)

Doesn't Disney hold ~3% of inventory even for sold out resorts, and if so could they use that for these bookings?

They do, but that is used for maintenance, etc. Generally speaking, it is not bookable.

There is also a pool of inventory made available for cash rental to offset the internal exchanges to e.g. DCL. In principle, the inventory in that pool can be adjusted to satisfy a Welcome Home booking, but it doesn't have to be.

They can’t sell more than 98% of a resort. But they do not hold back actual rooms for emergencies like that every day.

100% of rooms are eligible for booking and while DVC can try and book dates like everyone else at 11 months, they may not.

So, if the rooms were already booked by owners, DVC doesn’t have rooms to give.
