Welcome Home-Our 1st DVC Trip Link to TR pg 53

I really enjoyed the last 2 updates.

Your picture of Minnie Mouse at AK looks like it could of come from a Disney Promo, very nice shot! :thumbsup2

Wow!! A new trip :woohoo: Your plans look great---can't wait to read about your Yak and Yeti experience. I really want to try that one :goodvibes

Sorry I've been MIA for the week, Mary! My computer got a virus, and I had to get it taken care of before we could even turn the thing on!

Lucky you---going back in September, just you and the girls! Have you got any MNSSHP costume ideas, yet? :)

So sorry about your computer. We are very excited. I think they want to waer their Ariel costumes from BBB.

Yay!! Thanks :) We have eaten at the Yak&Yeti 2 times and loved it! Great selection-servers etc!

After the parade we were in search of some Mickey bars. Here are a few cute pics of the girl's enjoying thier treats.

From these pics you would probably think that Cayley got ice cream all over her dress-nope it was Avery....After the treats Cayley and I headed to Dino Land while Jeff and Avery were off to find a yeti. C and I rode Triceritops Spin a couple of times while Avery took on EE. She rode it but said that one time was enough :) Jeff bought her a yeti as a souvie. We then walked around a little so I could find a new shirt-it was pretty hot and sticky in the AK that day. I had a brought a change of clothes for the girls but not for me. I found a cute one and we went over to the Yak&Yeti to change. Here is where the Disney magic comes in. As we entered the restraunt our server from earlier came running up to me and says "I am so glad you came back" "Are you missing something from lunch" I looked in my backpack and realized that i no longer had our Disney Dollars!! :scared1: I described them to the manager and he handed them over. It was quite a bit of money and I had not noticed it had gone missing. I am very thankful that I went back in there to change. I think Dana actually directed me that way before our GG. So thanks to Dana and the great server at TH!!

It was now almost time for our GG. Leanne went and checked us in. Dana and i went to the podium to discuss mine and Dallas's nut allergies. They said the chef would come out and talk to us-more on that later. We then went to be greeted by the African princess. I do not remember her name but she was very lively and fun.

She gave us some info and off we went to the safari. I took this of Josie on the way over

We were part of the giraffe group

Up next, the safari!!!

We then got into our safari vehicle and headed out. Since there were so many of us we almost got our own truck. We had a guide and our driver. I used the zoom lens on these as well.

I have many more but ya get the idea. We were very excited to see the lion. Avery was estatic to see the zebras. Alas, i was a little :sad2: not to see any giraffes. After the safari we made our way over to TH for dinner. Dinner was pretty good. the salad was yummy as well as some of the other offerings. Kids ate very little. They then brought out the "exotic" animals.

This guy and a taranchala (sp) It was a little lackluster. There was also a character oppertunity with Rafiki and another guy but the girls wanted no part of that. We left AK after dinner-it was a little spooky- and decided to hit the MK EMH with Dana and Dallas. They drove over while we waited for a bus. It finally came and we met them in Tomorrowland. We caught the end of Wishes. We all rode Buzz, TTA and teh Haunted Mansion beofre calling it a night. We ventured back to the hoteal and off to bed.

Great update! Cute pics of the ice cream. I think it is impossible not to make a mess with those mickey bars!
YAY, Avery for riding Everest. The girls are looking forward to conquering the Yeti and getting stuffed ones too.
The GG looks like a ton of fun. It's fun reading about it in other TRs so you can hear everyone's opinions on it and see different pics.:goodvibes

What a great day and a truck to your selfs... OM Word!!!

That little creature is a little errr... interesting looking lol

AK always seems like there is no air and someone had cranked up the heat BIG TIME... at least to me, am I the only one who feels that way?

Can't wait to read more!!

Great pictures of the girls eating their Mickey bars...they are too cute for words!!

It was meant to be going back to the retaurant to change....so happy they had your Disney Dollars! Fantastic safari pictures.....

First, congrats on the pixie dust and getting the Disney dollars back. :thumbsup2

Your safari photos are great.

Lastly, I think it is an "unwritten" rule for eating Mickey Bars (this was our youngest son in 2000):

The pictures of Cayley and Avery eating their Mickey bars were so good. They brought back memories of Lacey eating her first Mickey bar. She bit off one ears and then the entire thing went kerplunk on the ground. Of course, we had to buy her another one. To this day, we still tell that story.

Oh my goodness! I can't believe your luck in getting the Disney Dollars back! The Disney mojo was definitely working for you that day. I am sure you were ready to kiss that castmember smack on the lips for returning your dollars to you.

It sounds like the Grand Gathering was a complete success. I have never ever seen the lion up and about. He's always being lazy and lounging when we've seen him. I think only once was his head even up.

Ummmm, can't believe they thought big salamander/lizard things and a tarantula were exotic. What's up with that? You can see those things in your local zoo (or even a big pet store).

I noticed that you said it was a little creepy leaving the Animal Kingdom. Leanne said the same thing. At least you were able to get over to the Magic Kingdom and end your night with a bang.

Darling pictures of the girls eating their Mickey Bars!

Oh my about leaving the Disney Dollars -- what a great CM to keep an eye out for you!

The GG sounds very neat -- sorry the actual meal at Tusker House was lackluster.

Hmmmm, since it's still almost 90 degrees at 10 o'clock at night, a cold Mickey bar sounds pretty good right now!

Thank goodness you were able to recover your lost Disney dollars. The GG sounds fun---Looks like you were able to see a lot of animals up and active that you usually don't get to see during the day. :thumbsup2

Great update Mary! Cute pics of the girls with their Mickey Bars. :goodvibes We weren't impressed with the "exotic" animals either. I guess for liability reasons they probably can't bring out anything super cool because it might eat our children. :lmao: I thought you were going to post about the racing wheelchair? :confused3

I think it is so nice that you all were able to arrange to do these Grand Gathering activities together. It is great how the dis has brought so many people together and created friendships. :goodvibes

Avery took on EE. She rode it but said that one time was enough :) Jeff bought her a yeti as a souvie.

Sweet pictures of the ice cream eating girls. :lovestruc

Awesome that you got your Disney Dollars back! :thumbsup2

I'm with Avery - one time on Everest is enough. I didn't get my Yeti souvenir. Maybe I'll get a pin this time, but I won't go on Everest again until I have to.

Avery was estatic to see the zebras.

They brought back the zebras! Awesome!
We noticed that had not been on the savannah in a while and asked about them. They said they had all been moved to AKL, but didn't give a reason. I hope they are still out on Kilimanjaro in July. :cool1:

Thank goodness you got your Disney Dollars back! That's awesome that the server was on the look out for you, and what luck that you just happened to go in there to change!

I can't believe you saw the lion up and about, I rarely even see him and when I do it's just his head sticking up above the grass while he lays around.
