Golly -- Gotta feel for the engineers and fabricators. It's axiomatic in industry that you never want to to have Serial Number 0001 on any installation and these poor people have nuttin' but prototypes +1 to deal with. I bet they all "drinks a bit" .

I'm hoping Murphy doesn't have any anxiety or performance issues while we're there. It's been a pain from what I've been reading about getting her to work. Hopefully they built two, one for Florida.

You know SM will be down while you are there right? Getting ready for the Halloween overlay.

If they keep adding attractions to the Halloween lineup I think I know where I will be the third week in October next year!

Yeah unfortunately SM and HM will both be down as of this week for Halloween overlays. We're more upset that Casey Jr and Storybook are down for a major refurb as well. Rumor has it that they're adding Rapunzel and Princess and the Frog enhancements.

You know there' s a new Halloween fireworks hosted by Jack Skellington and Zero flies instead of Tink or Dumbo. Luckily, Magical Fireworks with Dumbo will still be playing while we're there.

I never get upset about closures. Sure it sucks, but there's nothing no one can do. They have to shut attractions down all the time, so there's bound to be a couple down when we go. Some on other boards here are so upset that they kept talking about how it ruined their vacation and that some were going to change their dates and how they were going to call Disney and complain. Really? Cracks me up.

OH and I forgot, they're bringing Captain EO back January 2010 for probably one year.

I'm a bad Disneyland Fan. I came home early last night because I was tired so I missed the second Fantasmic show so I have yet to see Murphy in action. Well that and my family was leaving and I wasn't in the mood to watch Fantasmic alone.

I hope that everyone going this week gets a chance to see Murphy in it's full glory. I was there for the last week to do the half marathon and got a chance to see him 3 times. It is truely spectacular.

I would have seen him more, but I wanted to make sure I got a couple good viewings of Magical from in front of the castle to get the full Dumbo and Tink effect.

Have a great and safe trip to DLand. I just signed up last night for the WDW Marathon in January and as soon as I am done looking through threads on this board, will be booking my rooms for my first trip to WDW.

Murphy is her nickname that just sort of stuck. They called her that because pretty much anything that could have gone wrong did.

From the discussions on one of the other boards, Murphy was named by the Disney team durign the planning stages. She was replacing Bucky, the original dragon head on a stick.

Un-fortunately, Murphy has lived up to her name (and law) in that just about everything that could go wrong has gone wrong.

But hopefully those days are behind us and it is the begining of a long and happy life in captivity for Anaheim's newest magic dragon.

Yup! HM overlay happens every year. Usually start converting it around how, takes a couple of weeks. We've tried to get video's of it, but it's just so difficult. It's amazing what they do to the place, especially the outside. This year due to the HM 40th anniversary, there's a big Nightmare before Christmas push, so Jack and Sally will be at the parks (Disneyland is limited on amount of characters), SM gets a Ghostly Galaxy overlay that use to be in Tokyo Disneyland, plus a new yearly Halloween fireworks that starts this year, hosted by Jack and yes Zero flies over the castle like Tink and Dumbo now do. Should be a great show. They want to make the fireworks and SM overlay a yearly thing as well to go along with HM.

That's a sucky time of year for us to try to travel. I'll have to keep an eye on the meet plans, just in case.
