Welcome, Foolish Mortals...to an October 2011 PTR! *Trip Report link is up, pg 71!!*

I don't like bats or birds.. so I understand what you mean! I wouldn't be able to sleep if I knew there was bats in my room! I am sure there aren't!!!!

And yes, most places that are signature or nice sit-downs, take a while. When we dined at Yachtsman on Tuesday, there wasa gentelman who talk to the waiter and told him he is on a time restraint and needs his meal quick. Takes a bit away from relaxing, but it is a possiblity to tell them that... or schedule to eat at the earliest sit down time.... we ate at 6:20 and we were out of there between 7:30/8pm. If can get in anytime between 5:30 and 6, it would give you some time. they are proficient and we didn't have much time to wait between our bread and entree and dessert. just a thought :) I am sure you will figure it out!

Hope you have a great weekend!!

Thanks! I haven't been to a signature yet, so I'm not really sure how they work, I assumed they might take a little longer than the casual places. Although, some places take a while...Le Cellier seems like it takes forever! And 'Ohana takes a long time too!

I'm not even sure if I can do AP this trip...it would be nice, since we're staying there, but I just shuffled some things around and I still can't really fit it anywhere, so it might have to wait til our next trip, we'll see!

Hope you have a great weekend too!

Some changes, of course!

Hi everyone!

So as you guys know, I've been a little stressed about my ADR's for this trip, so I made a couple changes, and there are a few more I'm considering which I need some expert DIS input on! But before I get into that, I just wanted to let you guys know that

I started the Couch to 5K program!!! :woohoo: :dance3:

For those of you who aren't familiar with the C25K, it's basically a 9 week training program for people who don't run at all to go from not running to being able to run a 5K! I've been really aggravated with myself since I got sick a few weeks ago, totally slacking and not doing WW like I was doing before I got sick...I lost 4 pounds and gained it right back, so last week, I made myself start the C25K. I actually made it through the first week, and I lost 2 pounds! Not much, and I'm not really happy with that, considering if I never got sick and stuck with WW, I would have at least 10 pounds gone by now.

So in 8 more weeks, I should be able to run a whole 5K! I have my doubts about it, considering it's a struggle for me to run 60 seconds right now (the first week you alternate running 60 seconds with walking for 90 seconds) but I figure, as they increase the running over the weeks, if it gets too hard, I'll just repeat a week. :confused3 I'm looking forward to actually getting myself in shape! :yay:

Anyway, from dieting back to ADR's! I made a couple of changes this morning that I'm really happy with!

Instead of going to Tony's our second night, we are now going to

Brown-Derby.jpg

The Hollywood Brown Derby! It was Brandon's suggestion, and it actually makes a lot more sense to eat at DHS since we will already be there, and then go over to MK for Wishes! And it's somewhere new, which I'm excited about!

And I moved Boma from Thursday morning to Monday morning, before our AK day, it just makes more sense that way!

Now the changes I'm considering, I need some help with!

1. I really want to try the Grand Floridian Cafe for breakfast, I read a review of it and it sounds SO good! And it's so pretty inside, I love the GF!

DSC00633.jpg

I was thinking of either

A. Canceling CP and doing the GFC early, before MK rope drop or

B. Doing the GFC either Wed. or Thursday morning, when we have nothing planned. I'm assuming Thursday we will go to DTD, where I'll most likely have to go to Earl of Sandwich, so that's a consideration, but nothing is definite yet!

2. I really wanted to try to fit in Artist Point on this trip

DSC00888.jpg

But I honestly can't find anywhere to put it! I was going to cancel Cape May, but Brandon really wants to go there, and I kind of do too, just to visit my lovely Beach Club!

Going before MNSSHP is out, because it will take too long. I was also thinking maybe cancel/move Via Napoli and add it there, before our night at Epcot, but I like the idea of eating in the park.

Also, since we are eating at the Brown Derby now, that's a signature, and since we are doing the regular dining plan, it doesn't really make sense to do 2 signatures on one trip. We're already paying for a few things OOP, so it's looking like AP probably won't happen this time.

3. For our AK day, I have us leaving AK and going to DTD to eat a late lunch at TRex. Do you think I should

A. Keep TRex or

B. Cancel TRex and eat lunch at Yak and Yeti

DSC00056.jpg

Y&Y is another place I really want to try, and it will be nice to eat somewhere in the park, instead of leaving to go to DTD! But I really want to try TRex, so this is a tough choice!

4. I'm not sure if I should cancel Via Napoli all together and save it for another trip, or if I should just move it to Friday, and cancel Rose and Crown. On Tuesday, we are already eating lunch at Le Cellier, which is SO filling, and there is the Food and Wine fest going on, so I was thinking maybe just cancel VN and snack around the world at night. We can always try for a walk up somewhere, or go to a CS if we get really hungry.

But then that means, if i cancel VN, do I just save that for our next trip, or should I cancel Rose and Crown and replace it with VN?? I really want to try VN, and since I cancelled Tony's, I want to go to at least one Italian place...*sigh*. Why do there have to be SO many amazing places to eat in Disney World???

Please let me know what you guys think!!!

Have a great weekend!

Understandable! It's not like you won't ever get a chance to go there.. There is always next trip :)

Making ADRs and making changes gets confusing to me sometimes. My advice to you is:: If you REALLY want to eat somewhere and can not wait until the next trip, then book it. Don't look back and don't think about it too much because then you will think yourself out of the idea and then be confused on what to do all over again. Having fun and eating at places that you WANT is the key for trip to WDW. There are SO MANY wonderful places to eat, and you just need to decide which ones are the best for the days you are there and what you are doing those days. I wouldn't cancle VN if you are really wanting to eat there, possibly move it to another day. And I would try Y&Y if you are already going to be at AK, but if you think you can pull off T-REX, do that! I know it isn't the BEST advice, but everyone is different and every trip is different. Do what makes YOU BOTH happy!

GF Cafe is great for breakfast, we tried it out last year and loved it. DF loved the idea of steak and eggs in the morning. If you are serious about it then I would go for it. Do it for the day when you don't have much plan that way you can take your time eating and maybe explore the resort a little :)

2. I really wanted to try to fit in Artist Point on this trip

DSC00888.jpg

But I honestly can't find anywhere to put it! I was going to cancel Cape May, but Brandon really wants to go there, and I kind of do too, just to visit my lovely Beach Club!

I understand about wanting to try what you can and not finding anywhere to fit it in. We were like that last year, but DF turned around to me and said those magic words "There's always next time, something new to look forward to on our next trip" So that's my advice on that front :)

Y&Y is another place I really want to try, and it will be nice to eat somewhere in the park, instead of leaving to go to DTD! But I really want to try TRex, so this is a tough choice!

Which restaurant appeals more when you think about it? Do you mind having to travel to DTD or would you prefer to get extra time in the park because Y&Y is right there?

Hmmm two TS restaurants in one day and good food too. Maybe eating around the world for dinner is the best option because at least you get a big meal at lunch with LC. It is a toughy, but go with what your heart says and whatever decision you make will be the right one because you can't go wrong with any of the choices :)

Please let me know what you guys think!!!

Have a great weekend!

Have answered in pink above :)

Eek sorry about quoting the long post :teeth:

wow adr changes :)

I was going to start the couch to 5K as well as an incentive before Disney in June but I think we're only like 4 weeks away but I guess I could start it and then pick it back up after we get back. I'd love to lose some inches before we leave so some clothes fit a little better and the whole surgery thing didn't work since I only lost 8lbs..what can I say, I love to eat even when I really cant haha.

Congratulations on the Couch to 5K--good for you!

Why am I not surprised there are ADR changes??? :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

We've never done Artist Point but I have wonderful things about it. Personally, we did not care for Brown Derby at all and don't think it is worth two credits.

I would definitely do Yak & Yeti -- we had a great meal there and can't wait to be back in September.

We've never done Grand Floridian Cafe. Mark hates the resort, but I am determined to get there one of these days for dinner.

Nicki was not happy with Via Napoli in February and I'm up in the air if we are keeping it or going back to Rose & Crown which we love.

Good luck with the C25K plan - let me know how you find it. Did consider doing the programme but then decided to just stick with WW and do exercises when I can!

:woohoo: on eating at The Hollywood Brown Derby!! It totally makes sense as you will be at DHS plus if Brandon chose it then it's even better!!

GFC does look very pretty - I would keep CP and make an ADR on a day where you don't have much booked in order to enjoy your breakfast. However, if you have too many ADRs then consider cancelling CP as you have eaten there before.

I am soo looking forward to eating at AP however if you can't make it this time there is always the next trip. I know how much you guys love Beach Club so I would keep Cape May Cafe.

My choice would be Y&Y as I would personally like to spend more time at AK but I remember you saying you could fit everything into half a day so just see which one you want to visit more.

I would stick to F&W festival and cancel R&C and replace it with VN - this is just my opinion as I eat English food on a daily basis!! It seems you don't want to cancel both Italian ADRs so my advice would be to keep VN.

I look forward to seeing the updated list! I've been looking at O'hana ADRs but there are none available! This is probably good as otherwise I would have to cancel another ADR to replace this with!! :rotfl:

Enjoy the rest of your weekend! :)

I have no problem waiting til the next trip to try a few things! Like AP? Most likely gonna have to wait til next time, which I'm fine with. The only place I can see fitting it in now that would make sense is before the Haunted Carriage Ride, but I know Brandon wanted to go into Orlando to eat off Disney property one night :sad1: so if he still wants to do that, it just won't work!

I think we could pull off TRex...but I want to minimize the running around! The first few days are going to be crazy, so I want to try to calm down by Monday and not go to 50 places in one day! Ugh, and I hate driving to DTD, all those traffic lights drive me crazy! So I might just end up doing Yak and Yeti! I don't want to cancel TRex yet though, so I don't know!

Have answered in pink above

Eek sorry about quoting the long post :teeth:

No problem, I love long posts! :woohoo:

I think I'm going to do GF Cafe for breakfast one morning, just have to figure out which one! I know Brandon loves steak and eggs for breakfast (which I have never tried, I just think that's weird, but he loves it!) and they also have lobster eggs benedict, which I think he'd really like too! And it gives me a reason to hang out in the GF for a little while!

It's too bad I can't find a spot for AP, but there's always our next trip! Gives me something to look forward too!

Originally I wanted to do Yak and Yeti over TRex, but then when I was planning and realized I had nowhere to put TRex, I just put it there! I'll probably end up changing to Y&Y, I'm thinking I won't want to go to DTD for lunch that day, I'll probably be tired and annoyed by the end of AK and just want to get back to WL to rest for a little while!

I really think I might move VN to Friday night and just snack around the world on Tuesday. We've done Rose and Crown before, and it's really good, but I want to try new places this trip! :cool1:

wow adr changes

Yeah, I have some serious problems with keeping the ADR's I make 180 days out! :rotfl: I knew when I was making them that some of them wouldn't last, but I didn't know what else to do at the time!

If I were you, I'd just wait to start the Couch to 5K, unless you are used to running! I don't think skipping a week in the middle of it is a good idea, it might be hard to pick up where you left off. I went from Tuesday to Friday last week without exercising and when I did my workout Friday, it was SO hard! It was like the first 2 days didn't happen and I was starting all over! I have to start the 2nd week today and I'm dreading it! Can't wait to see how hard running for 90 seconds at a time is! :guilty:

Congratulations on the Couch to 5K--good for you!

Why am I not surprised there are ADR changes??? :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Nicki was not happy with Via Napoli in February and I'm up in the air if we are keeping it or going back to Rose & Crown which we love.

Thanks! I'm happy I started it, I just hope I can finish it, it's so hard!

I'm surprised you didn't like Brown Derby! My friend at work just went a month ago and said it was one of the best restaurants she's ever been to, anywhere! I started a thread on the restaurant board to see what people thought of it, since I never hear anything about it on here, and couldn't find any reviews, and most people seem to like it! I'm not using 2 credits on it though, I think we will pay OOP for that one, not sure yet, the prices don't seem that bad. And I love old Hollywood, so I think I will really like the theme! :thumbsup2

I think I'm definitely going to add Y&Y, it looks yummy, and it's something different to try!

I think GFC looks so good for breakfast!! I wanted to do Kona, but after looking at the menu for GFC, it seems like a place we might like a little better! Someday I will try that Tonga toast! :rotfl: Brandon isn't a big fan of the GF either, but he doesn't hate it! I don't think he will mind going there to eat one morning!

I remember Nicki not being happy with VN on her last trip, but she loved it the trip before, right? I wonder what changed! I already know if we go, I'm ordering the chicken parm, and that's not really hard to mess up! I just want to try it for myself, since it seems like a lot of people love it and a lot think it's terrible! :rotfl:

Good luck with the C25K plan - let me know how you find it. Did consider doing the programme but then decided to just stick with WW and do exercises when I can!

:woohoo: on eating at The Hollywood Brown Derby!! It totally makes sense as you will be at DHS plus if Brandon chose it then it's even better!!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend! :)

LOL, I can tell you already how I find the C25K-it's SO hard!!! :rotfl: I can't run for anything, so for me, it's struggle to get through each workout, but I'm determined to get through the next 8 weeks! I am going back on WW this week too, time is going by pretty quickly, and before I know it my trip will be here, and I want to drop a few sizes before then!

I'm excited about the Brown Derby! I don't know why I didn't think of doing it that night, but I'm glad we added it in! :thumbsup2

Still not sure where to add GFC, but I'm definitely going to put it in somewhere! I'm not sure if I want to cancel CP, we have been there twice, but it is SO good, and it will be nice to already be in the park...I don't know! Too many choices!!

I wish I could do AP on this trip, but it just doesn't look like it will happen! However, it will be nice to do in May if we go, because it will be our anniversary trip and it will give us something to look forward to! :)

I think I'm going to Y&Y. It just makes more sense to stay in AK and eat instead of leaving to go to DTD. Also, if we end up at DTD some random day, I could always see if I just get into TRex when we are there...sometimes we go to DTD after a park in the morning and we will eat at Rainforest Cafe, so that's always a possibility!

I'm most likely going to move VN to Friday night. I should probably do that now, because it seems like it's booking up quickly for that night, when I checked availability yesterday, the earliest they had was 6:20!

I can't wait to see how different my ADR's in September from what they started off with in April! :rotfl:

Good for you starting the C25K program!!! I should really look into doing something like that over the summer.

As for ADRs, I say go for T-Rex! I think that place looks really fun. :)

Comments in RED.

Some changes, of course!

1. I really want to try the Grand Floridian Cafe for breakfast, I read a review of it and it sounds SO good! And it's so pretty inside, I love the GF!

The GFC is so delicious for breakfast. It's so simple but Greg and I loved every bite when we went there last year.

Hmm...I don't think I'd plan it for before MK Rope Drop, but then I'm not a morning person and I know that I'd enjoy it more if I was more awake and ready to eat. I'd go for Wednesday AM or Thursday AM. You will have a car, right? Driving over to the GF would be super easy before going over to DTD.

2. I really wanted to try to fit in Artist Point on this trip

DSC00888.jpg

But I honestly can't find anywhere to put it! I was going to cancel Cape May, but Brandon really wants to go there, and I kind of do too, just to visit my lovely Beach Club!

Sometimes it can be hard to save places for the next trip but sometimes it's best. Also, I'm sure if you change your mind you could get an ADR somewhere else earlier in the week, if not that day. We went this same week last year and it was very easy to walk up to most restaurants we found. (Aside from Le Cellier, etc.)

3. For our AK day, I have us leaving AK and going to DTD to eat a late lunch at TRex. Do you think I should

A. Keep TRex or

B. Cancel TRex and eat lunch at Yak and Yeti

Y&Y is another place I really want to try, and it will be nice to eat somewhere in the park, instead of leaving to go to DTD! But I really want to try TRex, so this is a tough choice!

What time are you getting to AK? Maybe you can do an early lunch and perhaps share an entree and appetizer (okay and maybe dessert) and then go to TRex after leaving AK, at least for appetizers and drinks? Just a thought.

4. I'm not sure if I should cancel Via Napoli all together and save it for another trip, or if I should just move it to Friday, and cancel Rose and Crown. I'm nearly positive you could walk up to VN if you do decided to go. I would definitely not want to eat 2 TS places (especially lunch and dinner) if I planned at snacking at the Food & Wine Fest as well. VN will be there your next trip. Food & Wine Fest might not (depending on what time of year you go).

Please let me know what you guys think!!!

Have a great weekend!

Do what works.
If you know you will get annoyed driving to DTD, then just do Y&Y, then you can go back to WL after you are finished at AK and relax for a bit. Being annoyed is no fun!
Remember:: There is ALWAYS next trip!

:yay:

That's awesome! Congratulations! My sister started the C25K program and loved it. She didn't finish it but it got her into more healthy habits with jogging regularly and stuff. Good luck with it! :thumbsup2

I think it's great that you are trying Hollywood Brown Derby! I am so excited to try Boma for breakfast on our trip, now that we're staying at AKL! :woohoo:

I would recommend doing GFC on Wed or Thurs rather than trying to get it in before rope drop at MK. If you did that you would have to get up super early and you would feel rushed. I say keep CP for that day!

As much as I love AP I understand your dilemma. I really think it would be great for you to try it since you are staying at WL and it is SO delicious, but I've never had Hollywood Brown Derby so it is probably just as good!

This is a tough one... I really want you try to TRex, but I know leaving a park in the middle of the day can be a pain. I've never really found Y&Y's menu that appealing though, so I'm going to vote for TRex!

I would say cancel Rose & Crown and replace it with VN!

Please let me know what you guys think!!!

Have a great weekend!

I added my thoughts in purple. I hope they help! :)

Awesome to hear you are doing the C25k!! I did something similar to get started and I just got home today from doing a half marathon :thumbsup2 I never ran or jogged or really worked out much before I started that either...so it has its tough moments but its all worth it!!:goodvibes

DBF votes to cancel Trex and eat at Yak and Yeti...At Trex he says the atmosphere was fun, the food was ok, but it was food you could get at any local TGIFridays :confused3 Maybe you guys could go have a drink or appetizer at Trex to get your fix at some point :goodvibes

I vote for Yak & Yeti. Too much of a pain to leave for DTD.

I like Brown Derby, but it's not Artist point, that's for sure. Too bad you can't fit it in.

Cape May Cafe - have you had breakfast there?????

CFC looks nice. Never been.

I just don't know - too many choices!

Lol I'm so glad I didn't start it then!! Good luck - am sure you will get through it.

I wish I could do AP on this trip, but it just doesn't look like it will happen! However, it will be nice to do in May if we go, because it will be our anniversary trip and it will give us something to look forward to! :)

I think that it is a lovely idea to go to AP in May if you can not fit it in for this trip. It sure will be lovely anniversary meal! :thumbsup2

I can't wait to see how different my ADR's in September from what they started off with in April! :rotfl:

I look forward to seeing the changes aswell!!

Congrats on the C25K and a 2 lb loss! I often wish I was a runner because everyone that I know that does run is so thin! I think it's one of the best activities to do when trying to lose weight. :thumbsup2

My thoughts on your ADRs are below!

:yay:

I think this is an excellent change! I think HBD is going to be an overall better dining experience than Tony's and it sounds like it works out better with your schedule.

And I moved Boma from Thursday morning to Monday morning, before our AK day, it just makes more sense that way!

Another great change! We did Boma before AK last November and it is just so easy to get to the park after eating there. Plus, it really puts you in the AK mood!

Now the changes I'm considering, I need some help with!

1. I really want to try the Grand Floridian Cafe for breakfast, I read a review of it and it sounds SO good! And it's so pretty inside, I love the GF!

Hmmm, this one is tough. I love CP so I'm tempted to say keep that, but I also think it's nice to have a free day with no early morning plans. Although maybe a late breakfast at the GF Cafe would be good? Although that might throw off EOS...

2. I really wanted to try to fit in Artist Point on this trip

Based on all of the things that you mentioned, I say save AP for the next trip.

I say go for Y&Y! You can always do T-Rex on another trip, and I think it makes more sense to stay at AK to eat lunch.

4. I'm not sure if I should cancel Via Napoli all together and save it for another trip, or if I should just move it to Friday, and cancel Rose and Crown. I think since you really want to try VN, you should move it to Friday and cancel R&C. Also, I think it's a good idea to plan on just lunch at LC on Tuesday and then doing the F&W booths that night.

Please let me know what you guys think!!!

Have a great weekend!

I think saving AP for another trip makes sense. It might be nice on a later trip to have a good reason to visit WL.

I think Yak & Yeti makes more sense than T-Rex. I haven't eaten at either, but location-wise, going to from AK to DD might be kind of annoying, at the time.

Brown Derby sounds great! I want to go there someday, as soon as the boys are big enough that we won't be a spectacle.

I would cancel either Via Napoli or Rose & Crown, in favor of snacking at the F&W Festival. If you can believe what you read on the internet, there will be lots of great foods to try.

Congrats on starting the running program! That sounds like a great way to get in shape- and what an accomplishment to be able to run 5K at the end!

So your ADR troubles... my head is spinning! The only real advice I have is to remember that you can't fit them all in, and there is always next time! Good luck!
