Hi Ladies,

Where would you suggest a good place for a welcome dinner for around 30 -40 people. I know a lof of people have had it at Ohana, but is there any other place you could recommend?

Thanks!

I know people who have used the back room at Whispering Canyon cafe as well as 1900 park fare.

It really depends on your budget. Some other nice places to have it is the wine room at Jiko or the Californai Grill. Then there is always the option of setting it up through Disney weddings but that would be around $50 plus per person.

We used OHana as our RD because I decided I didn't want something to formal...the whole idea was fun and getting the families to bond so OHana was the perfect place. Following OHana I did a welcome Dessert Party (Illuminations) for all my guests.

What kind of dinner are you looking for fixed price all you can eat or something that your guests have a little more choice? It does really come down to how much you want to spend.

I also like Raglan Road, which I believe has a semi private room you can use.

Yea, since there are going to be about 30-50 people I'm looking for something with a fixed price. I was considering Ohana, but I wanted to see what other options I had. The last few times I went to Ohana, the service was awful! And there were only 4 of us. I'm afraid to even think about how it would be with a party of 30+ :scared1:

we had 50 at our welcome dinner at downtown disneys rainforest cafe, it was really nice, there was plenty of food & easy for everyone to get to by bus.

We had our Rehearsal Dinner and Welcome party at Raglan Road and loved it. The room was off to the side and was just for our party. You could see the Irish Dancers from there, so that was nice. The food was great and plus it was at Downtown Disney so it was easy for everyone to attend. We didn't have to worry about park tickets, etc.

how about the portobello yacht club at dtd? i don't know much about that place, but i was looking to have something there as well...another thought is fulton's, but there was a bride on here who had a really bad review of it, so beware...

We are having our Welcome / Rehearsal Dinner at Ariels.
We are having about 35 guests. After we are having a dessert party at EPCOT for all our wedding guests.
We decided on Ariels because it is private. We were going to do Ohana's but there is no private room.

I never thought about Ariels. Will you be letting your guests order whatever they want off the menu or did already have a selection in mind? The only thing I'm concerned with about Ariels is that it might be too confusing for guests to get there. Most of my guests are first timers and I think having to travel to park and then to a resort might be confusing to them.

Tammy, could you please tell me how many people you had at your welcome party? We will have about 50-60 but as we are both Irish, we thought it would be great fun to have ours there. TIA

Skylar - I have Raglan Road's group dining menus if you want to see them - it's a PowerPoint, so I think I'd have to email it. The Snug only seats 26, but I'm sure they have other areas for larger parties. They were really friendly when I called. :thumbsup2

There is a catering menu, the food will be set up buffet style. We choose the food already so the price is already final. Most of our guests are staying at the Boardwalk so they just have to walk over, the remaining guests we will pick up by car.

You could also do something on the beach at the Beach Club. We walked past an event that was set up there one year and it looked like a ton of fun!
