There will be systems people there watching and ready to reboot if need be and backing things up (thats probably done in their offline window).

this is done by a computer operator whose sole job is to monitor systems. More than likely, this person (mnore than likely several people) is not even associated with VMK iteself, but Disney as a whole and they would be ina central location monitoring all Disney sites and systems, including VMK, Toontown, Game Kingdom, DXD, Disney Movie Rewards etc etc, plus they would also be monitoring other systems like Disney's internal network drives, payroll and Human Resources systems, they probably use SAP to run all of their financial and inventory systems and they would be monitoring that too. there are literally hundreds of systems these days that an operator has to monitor, it isnt like the good old days with just Mainframe and SA/400

Well, I know for a fact that Disney has all of their systems in a central location. Cannot say for certain about Toontown and VMK, but it would make perfect sense. In this day and age it is absolutely vital to have all the systems monitored from a central location... worldwide. So their center could be in Texas, or India, or in a secret Disney undersea lab.
