Weird Request?

I don't make my reservations for a few months for my trip in August, but I like to plan ahead. So I was wondering if anyone knew if you are able to request where to sit when making your reservations? I know, it's a request so it won't be guaranteed or anything, but is it possible?

This past August my family had a reservation at the Rose and Crown for 4ish. We were the first people there for that day, and when we were about to be seated my father (who is on the older side) realized that we were going to be seated outside. While this was no problem to me, my father who does not deal with the heat well got a little upset so we asked if we could be seated inside. The host went back to the podium for a few minutes and finally came back and told us that there was no way we can be seated inside. My father was not able to enjoy his dinner because he was too hot to relax, especially after being outside for 8 hours prior, so he ended up just drinking water. So I was wondering if I would be able to ask them to seat us inside when I make my reservations or should I try to avoid restaurants that have seating outside?

I am sure you can add a request like that to your ADR. I am kind of surprised that request wasn't accommodated on your last trip.

I wouldn't bother requesting patio seating at R&C during illuminations or a window seat at Cali Grill during Wishes but something like sit inside should be no problem to add knowing it's just a request.

1) ADR's are not like room ressies.
2) You cannot request seating ahead of time.
3) Think of the confusion, arguments and complaints if they were no granted.

You can make a request when you are at the podium checking in. You can't add it to your reservation.

Yes, make the request when you check in. They will not be able to deal with it until then, as they do not assign tables until you check in and one becomes open for you. Disney reservations do not hold tables open for guests before their arrival at the restaurant. You may have to wait until your preferred table type opens up.

We were at R&C the first week in Oct. and it was soooooo hot and humid. We had a 12:00 (noon) lunch ADR and were the first people to check in that day, though not the first seated. The hostess tried to seat us on the upper deck in the direct sun and I said "Oh, No!" She got a bit snippy with me, but after a few minutes wait....we were seated in the nice cool inside. It was empty inside...so I don't understand why it was such a problem...and when I asked our server about it....he said he didn't understand either, especially since we were the first people to check-in for the day.
I told DH, next time we decide to eat at R&C, we will just go to the bar area and order there.
As long as you are not requesting a prime dinner time and you are willing to wait for inside seating....I think they should honor your request.

Thanks for the replies! I'm thinking I'm just going to tell him to suck it up and man up. :rotfl: ...And then I'll get belted over the head even if I am a grown adult.

This is exactly what happened to us! We actually got there at 3:30 and they said they weren't seating for dinner yet so we had to wait there. When I went inside to use the ladies room during the meal, we noticed that it was basically empty. I thought maybe that they make the seating arrangements based on when people made reservations, but I had made the reservation the exactly 60 days before at 7:00am. Heck, I even got a ressie for CRT that morning with no problem. Anyway, the host that was seating us got rather snippy as well. I did feel bad, but at the same time it was just a request. :confused3 Maybe the CM were just having bad days.
