Hi everyone :wave2:

We are headed to WDW in October to do MNSSHP. We'll only be there for two nights and would like to stay as inexpensively as possible and were thinking about doing the campgrounds since they are half the price of the values during our dates.

If we fly, we'd like to do carry-on only.

Can I bring a tent onto the plane? Didn't know if the flexible tent poles would be an issue in my carry-on luggage. Would love to get some input for anyone who has flown with a tent :rotfl:

Thanks!
Andrea

As long as it fits within the parameters of the stated carryon sizes.

Last year I went to a rock festival down in the Everglades, and I brought my tent and sleeping bag in one suitcase and my clothes in the other. No problem going through the airport. After the festival I headed to DW for a few days, and sent the suitcase with the camp supplies home via UPS.

I'd be worried about the pegs for securing the tent to the ground. Security might see them as being too potentially weapon-like.

2nd on the tent-stake issue. We tried to do the same thing and were told we couldn't bring on the stakes. Luckily, we were early enough to go back out and check the tent. (And the guy behind us's father's old pocketknife that he forgot he had with him. Took his business card and mailed it back to him later. Totally a tangent, but a fun story!)

I am planning on taking aero twin bed in OCT. I was worried some about pump that comes with it! What do you all think?

Well, my tent is a free standing dome, so no stakes. But it was also checked, so was not an issue anyway. I did not catch the carryon part, but the case was too big for all the equipment.

There is nothing weapon-like about a pump. There is no reason you can't take it into the airplane cabin with you. And there is no reason it can't be packed in a suitcase, either.

You can take the pump thru with *almost* no problem. We took ours in our carry on last year. The screener looked at the X-ray of the bag for a bit then called someone else over. They discussed it then asked if I had anyhting mechanical in my bag. After a manual search we were on our way.

Just make sure it is easy to get to, ours was not. Next time I think I would take it out just to save time.
