Weird Question for Rabbit Owners

Can you walk a rabbit?

I work in a housing office for a co-op. It the policy of the co-op to only allow caged animals. Someone called this afternoon wanting to know if they could have a rabbit and if it would be okay if they walked it around the common areas of the compound.

I was just completely befuddled and amused with this question and while talking to the individual I tried my best to stifle any giggles produced by the thoughts of a rabbit on leash.

But is it legit? Do people really walk rabbits?

yes, there are leashes one can buy for rabbits and ferrets.

It's not necessarily common, but not unheard of either.

I have a rabbit, and I do have a leash for him. It's a rather short leash, but it stretches. I take him in the back yard and let him hop around. I just have to follow him in whichever direction he decides to hop! I know he's done when he just decides to lay down or starts cleaning himself. The exercise is good for him, and I think he enjoys it as well.

Yup! I had a rabbit in college that stayed in a cage on my balcony. I had a leash for him and would let him hop around on the common area. It's not really "walking" for you, you are just hanging out at the end of the leash - but the bunny seems to enjoy it.

Awwww! How fun! I wish I had a bunny to walk Or a friend's bunny to borrow to take for a walk. lol

Yep you can absolutely take rabbits for a walk. Well it's more like they walk you. We've got 3 of them that we take out now and then.
