Ok, so I look at the dining plan and I'm not really a QS fan so
QS and DDP seem not worth it.
But DDXDP seems like a lot of food. If we are Not using the dining plan will restaurants (except Italy I saw they don't?)
Let you share? Im not talking buffet or anything like that.
Just regular TS
Cause I'm just not a huge eater and could easily share with my daughter or my mother. She's not a huge eater either. In fact I could probably Snack around the world showcase to be honest.

I tend to get caught up in what's going on and forget to eat. Don't get me wrong I like food, I just can't stuff myself. None of my family can, except my brother.
We did run to reservation after reservation it seemed our last trip back in 2010 that was Awful! Felt like all we did was that (my brother was in charge of that last time, he is not coming this time , he's going at a different time next year lol I just found that out)

We paid out of pocket in 2015, 2016, and 2016 again. We were never told there was a minimum to order. Obviously at the buffets, we all had to pay. Otherwise, we ordered what we wanted. We shared at Via Napoli. The waiter did not care. (It is ON the dining plan that they seem to care more about sharing. However, most places still don't care.)
I also only ordered appetizers for myself at San Angel...no problem (some in my family did order entrees)

Oh cool, phew! So we can split.
I Hate stuffing myself to the gills then I hurt! And I know my children will just pick off everyone's plates. The baby obviously is allowed. My daughter will most definitely be teaching off my plate (it's always more interesting for her to steal from mine at home even! Doesn't matter we have the same thing lol) but there are times I'm sure we will want to just share. We'd order separate drinks , even share an appitizer (maybe cause locally the past couple years they bring it out with our Meal deflecting the point of ordering it even with salads around here )
And honestly I'm Thinking $2,000 in food seems wild . Our family orders a large pizza and has leftovers for the next day!

Why won't "Italy" let you share if it is not a buffet?
I'm referring to Via Napoli , we ate there back in 2010 and got a server who had such an attitude. I was sharing my husbands Tiramisu and and he scolded me. Pretty nastily that I should eat my Own dessert (I had one but I didn't care for it) We were on the Dining plan then though so that might have been it.

They had just opened that year I think? I know we weren't impressed with the pizza (Seriously, the resort Pizza as Way better) an my dad who was really looking forward to Via Napoli's pizza.

Maybe just a dud waiter? I know they were strict about people sharing credits on the Dining Plan (like two people can't go in and get one meal, etc), but don't know why he would have been upset about dessert.

We went to Via Napoli twice in 2016. Once on an anniversary trip. We ordered sangria, the sampler appetizer, and an individual pizza. We ended up ordering another individual pizza AFTER we ate the first. We like to eat (and it was our arrival day so it was lunch and dinner for us). Anyhow, our watier didn't say anything. He even brought out free dessert for our anniversary.

We also went in the summer. We ordered appetizer and a large pizza to share (the toddlers may have gotten a kids meals, but 3 of us shared the large). We also got fewer than 5 desserts and had 5 people there. Waiter didn't say a thing.

Via Napoli are very regulation on DDP credits and sharing, possibly because of the contract reimbursement and past experience. If you let multiple people share on one credit it is rough on your P&L.

We always POP, and have shared. Never been an issue. I do think 50s Prime Time might charge an extra plate fee that was like $3 for main course sharing.
Mom and I just went in February and we split quite a few meals, including dessert at Spice Road Table. No issues.

Pretty sure without the dining plan (and not including buffets etc) you can walk into a restaurant and order anything you like off the menu and divide it between your party as you see fit? Just like anywhere else?

We have never done the dining plan and share almost every meal. Or jud get a couple of appetizers and maybe one entree for two people.

We've never gotten the dining plan (much prefer room discounts) and we ALWAYS share and yes, even dessert at Via Napoli and everywhere else!!!

I so glad I'm not the weirdo who's considering not buying the dining plan. We actually might save OOP as otherwise I think it would just be overkill and a lot of money for us. I like being able to choose what I want and usally it's Not steak. And I'm used to sharing.

OOP , do you charge it and keep a tab somehow? Put a limit on a pre-paid credit card? I'm thinking that might be smart. Or gift cards although then you'd have to spend it all at the park in guessing.

Via Napoli has the strictest interpretation of the dining plan rules. You cannot use one credit to feed two or more people,if you want pizza only the personal sized pizza can be ordered with a dining credit and no combining credits for a larger sized pizza.

If you are paying out of pocket you can share at the table service restaurants where you order from a menu, even Via Napoli. Everyone three years and older will be charged at fixed price meals (e.g. CRT, Akershus) and dining packages (e.g. Fantasmic, ROL) even though you order from a menu for these meals.

In 11 years and over 5o trips, Ive never used DDP. Not EXACTLY what you are asking, but frequently friend and I will each order entrée and split them. Most waiters will pre-split the plates for us. I ALWAYS tip well. If _I_ was splitting one meal for two people, _I_ would tip based upon service for TWO....
