Both of the boys have odd ‘water in my face’ issues and when swimming, in any body of water, want to wear their swimming facemasks.

Some pools prohibit this and I don’t want to bring them if they can’t use them. If they won’t be able to use them, I can tell them now so they can think about it and maybe swim or not. We’re staying at Royal Pacific for two nights, then moving over to AS-Movies. Thank you so much for any info.

We've been going to Disney and even Universal pools many times over the years, and I know we've seen kids playing in the pool with masks and snorkeling. I have no direct knowledge of any policy that prohibits something like that - I have to think they would be fine with their facemarks. Not sure why pools would prohibit them - they certainly don't seem to interfere with any other guests. They might need to remove them to do slides and things like that, but I hope it would not be any kind of issue.

Once some time ago the lifeguards made a kid take off their mask that covered their nose when we were there. It was slightly pre Covid. I remember because I was sitting near there and the mom was yelling at the lifeguard who told her it is unsafe style of mask and not permitted. I never noticed before or after if it was allowed or not because I never looked at anyone’s mask. I will add our local YMCA never permitted that type either.

No idea about Universal, but at Yacht Club in August the lifeguards were very strict about no goggles while using water slides.

Other than that they were fine with it in the pool.

My kids had this same issue for years! The only issue we had was on the slides, lifeguards at AKL would not let my kids go down slides with snorkel masks, only swim goggles. That encouraged my kids to try to work past their fears and now they are able to swim with just swim goggles.

Yes masks/goggles can be worn, my kids always wore them at multiple resorts. However, as @GinnyBear’s_mom said, they cannot wear them down the slide. A boy was asked twice by a lifeguard not to wear it down the slide while at The Grand a couple weeks ago. Have fun!
