I just read an article about doctors whose practices were wrecked by Katrina. The doctor they interviewed was a pediatrician named Dr. Needle. "Come along Junior, I'm taking you to see Dr. NEEDLE!" Somehow I picture kids having a tough time with that one.

I also happen to know a Dr. Blood and a Dr. Payne.

Do you know of any other names that just don't quite fit with what they do for a living?

My friend is a podiatrist/surgeon. Is that a podiatric surgeon? That sounds funny.

Anyway, she got married to a man whose last name is Slaughter.

She didn't want to be known as Dr. Slaughter, so she kept her maiden name.

When I lived in Madison, Wisconsin, there was a Dr. Bonebreak who was an Orthopedic Surgeon.

There was a dentist my brothers went to (before I was born) that was named Dr. Hertz. They claim that he lived up to his name and then some.

Not a doctor, but my drivers ed. teacher in high school was Mr. Miles, which I always thought was funny, and the secretary for the school was Mrs. Keys (like typewriter keys).

a guy who worked at my office in death claims was named Peter Coffin

and my dentist growing up was Dr Hurt

The cross country coach DH had in college had the last name Miles. I knew a Dr. Blue which got confusing when he was in the hospital because they called codes as Dr. Blue (children's hospital) so he had a made up name he answered to at the hospital when they paged him.

These names are all self-fulfilling prophesies.

Not quite the same but Anyone watch American Pie? My DD's gym teacher is named Mr. Stiffler. :rotfl: Everytime she mentions it I just crack up.

And I knew a Dr Savage(Mike) in the late 70s.

I once had a dentist named Dr.Nasti, very nice woman, great dentist.

My eye doctor when I was a kid was Dr. Glass. He's the one who first gave me my glasses. :confused3

My dermatologist in Dallas was Dr. Cheek.

I have a friend who is a fabulous plastic surgeon (haven't used him yet but have seen his work for decades) - his first name is Butch.
