My sister and her family have just been gifted/comped their theme park tickets and are arriving April 5.
They will have "hard tickets" and will not have them in hand until they arrive at the park.
They are staying off-site and have never been to WDW before so have no existing magic bands.

I have a ton of old bands from trips that are still active. Is there a way to transfer any of my bands to them?

If not, is there any benefit at that point to them buying their own and even having the bands? I know FPP will be at a minimum by the time they arrive and they won't be using the bands at the resort.

They aren't transferable.

Are they just going one day? There is no benefit other than maybe treating them as a souvenir and not having to pull out the card for FP.

Also, advise them that they should continuously check for FP even if it says there are none available.

They'll be there April 5-11th. So almost a week.

They can buy them on shopdisney if they want them. It is a fun thing for kids.
That's what I was thinking. Mine loved their bands. Their kids are 5 & 8 so I think I'll recommend them buy for the kids only maybe.

Thanks all for the quick info.

There is no benefit to them buying bands. They can only use them for fastpasses staying off site.

As pp's have said you can't transfer MB's.

If they were gifted memory maker or decide to purchase it then I suggest at least one MB for the party to get the photo's and video that you can't "tap" for. Otherwise the hard ticket can do everything the MB can for an offsite guest. If, after a day or so they decide to purchase bands they could do so in the parks.

Have them set up a MDE account now and the minute they get their tickets they can link them and start looking for FP+ for the entire trip. Advise them to keep checking for the hard to get attractions as they often show up even day of.

Yep- kids like that kind of thing. I would do it for mine if he wanted. Not an expensive “souvenir”.
