Weird lanyard question

My oldest daughter has enjoyed pin trading....the last two trips we got her a princess starter set and she bought more and traded, and then we've kept that lanyard the way it was when we came home. So every trip has a lanyard. Well I figured we'd do it again this time, but since little DD likes to do what her sister does thought I'd get her one too. Well I tried one of older DD's set on her and the lanyard goes down to her calves! I'm thinking they don't sell tiny ones, so......finally here's my question.....if I cut one of those starter set lanyards....how do you think I would go about sewing it back together so it was secure? Those lanyards are pretty thick. I was thinking cutting of the velcro part, shortening it, and reattaching the velcro? I don't have a dwing machine so maybe it wouldn't work.....and finding either that princess lanyard or the tink one might be hard to do before the trip, so I'm not sure.....Just wanted to see if you experts had any input! TIA! (she loves wearing the pins, BTW) :flower:

If you can't sew it back, you might want to get some of that double stick tape and velcro. You could put the double stick tape (the heavy duty type) on the ends and then put the velcro on. You just have to be careful when you open the lanyard that you don't pull the double stick tape off.

Another idea is to tie a knot in the back to make it the right length. Then as they grow, you can still use the same lanyard.
