We were at AKLV Jambo in a studio from Thursday, August 28-Monday, September 1. Towel and trash day should have been on Sunday, August 31. There was a tap on the door Sunday morning and then before I could get to it another tap and then the key in the door. This was around 9 am. I opened the door just as what I assumed was housekeeping was opening it. She kind of jumped back and then asked if we were extending our stay. I said that NO our check out was on Monday, Septenber 1st. She seemed confused and then I asked her if we could just get some towels since it was t&t day. She said she would tell our housekeeper. From her saying that I assume she was a supervisor of some sort. The only thing I can think is that someone thought that August only had 30 days and they had skipped over the 31st. We did get towel later that day. But still, 9 am ( yes we had not put out the do not disturb sign) they expected us to be gone on check-out day. The next day we made sure to put out the do not disturb sign.

Not really weird, housekeeping often doesn't know when to clean our rooms.

We keep the sign on our door everyday except cleaning days and we always double lock the door when we are in the room.

Not weird. I've stayed at hotels in Las Vegas where housekeeping showed up at 9:30am.

In VEGAS! Excuse me, why do you think I'm UP and out of the room at that time in the morning!? I just got to bed 2 hours ago! :rotfl:

I have to agree that it isn't weird. I stay in hotels/motels a lot and they start cleaning at 8am or so. If there isn't a do not disturb sign and you are early on their "route" they will come in.

I wonder what they would have done if you had been out of the room at that time. I hope they would have questioned their assumption you were checking out that day when they saw all your stuff was still in the room!

I'll add it is weird they thought you were checking out but mistakes do happen. A few months ago I was at a Hyatt place and had taken the majority of my items for the day. The few toiletries I had left were tossed and the room was cleaned as if I had check out. Which I wasn't doing for another day.

I had the opposite experience at a non-Disney resort. I checked in, unpacked into drawers, jumped into the shower, and came out to find that another family had entered and was getting ready to unpack. The front desk tried to elect me as the person to move out but, dripping wet, I refused and the other family skedaddled.

I had the door double locked, but I opened it just as she was going to try. And apparently she wasn't our housekeeper, since she said she would let our housekeeper know. It was just weird that she thought that we would have already been checked out by 9 am especially since I still had another day on my reservation.

This sounds like someone trying to find a place to take a break.

I've had house keeping come early in the morning too! Definetely learned my lesson to always have the "do not distrub" sign up!

I've never had housekeeping pay attention to that sign on check out day. Not once.

The sooner that they clean their section, the sooner they can go home.

Housekeepers at Disney are allowed to leave work 45 min early with pay if they get their work done. That's one of the reasons for rooms that are not cleaned as well as they could be.

Hummmm,we never encountered any of these issues,I guess now were due for it come Dec.
We've never had housekeeping knock on the door early in the morning if the Do Not Disturb sign is on the door.

One time someone removed the DND sign from our door. It was our check out morning so housekeeping came knocking some time between 8:30 and 9:00am to see if we were already out. I just told the housekeeper we would be out by 11am and she left us alone until then.

Yikes! I would have been completely thrown off by this.
