Does anyone think it's sexist that hats are allowed for women, but not for men? My DF "needs" to wear a hat, and will not go to local restaurants that don't allow him to wear one.

Unless it's due to some sort of medical condition, why would anyone NEED to weat a hat indoors? It's common courtesy for men to remove hats indoors (and at ball games during the national anthem, which most don't bother to do anymore...).

i personally feel that nobody should wear hats in eating establishments, theatres, people's homes etc... and that includes men, women and children (except of course babies) I was raised that wearing hats indoors in those places is rude. Unless as the previous poster mentioned...there was a medical reason.

Religious reasons are generally the only other exception for me. Otherwise I consider it somewhat rude. I've even been known to cause police officers to remove their hats with my dirty looks :rolleyes1

I'd rather see someone in a hat than some of the get-ups I've seen on some teenagers (they're almost obscene--and I am NOT a prude!) :scared1: :scared1:

Not sexist, just common courtesy. Although I don't think its very proper for women to wear hats indoors either.

Unless you are in the red hat society, it is not the fashion for women to wear hats these days. Maybe to an afternoon tea, but that's about it.

Time to take the hat off and deal with whatever the issue is that 'requires' a hat IMHO

The wearing of hats indoors only by ladies is not sexist - it's old fashioned. And it continues today, in my opinion, because women don't like to admit they have "hat hair". I am a female so no flames please. Traditionally, men's hair is shorter so when wearing a hat and removing it, no one can see any difference in their hair style. But put a hat on a woman's head, and well, everyone can see the indentation in the hair.

Personally, I don't mind a man wearing a ball cap in a restaurant. Can't really think of any other kind of hat that men would wear at Disney World that would be totally offensive to someone.
