Weird Dog Question

I know there are many of you who have dogs. DF just called and informed me that he just got home and our dog has pooped in the living room - again.

The dog does this sometimes. Some months will pass by and nothing will happen - some months we come home to poop in the living room twice, three times a week. It has nothing to do with him not being let out before we leave for work. He's always on the same schedule. And it's always only in the living room! Why do dogs do this and what can you do to get them to stop!

I have a husky and he goes thru phases where he's "pouting" -like if we gave him a bath or cut his nails. Or if he gets yelled at for something he either holds it in until the middle of the night and leaves us a little good morning gift in the hallway or goes immed. upstairs and drops his little reminder that he's a moody mutt. It only happens once every other month, but when it does it's in phases -and it's kind of like a "now what?" for us.

My vet said as long as it is not the room that they sleep in, it is like they are outdoors, they do not reconize another room as part of their habitat. we gate our dog into our bedroom(where he sleeps at night) when we leave, and we have not had another problem......

We have had our dog for 2 years and she has never done anything in the house. My DH just got a job and is away at school, he was home with her all day for awhile. The lst. 2 days I came home the dog pooped in the living room and my DS bedroom - I think she was mad about being by herself, she hasn't done it except the first 2 days he was gone.

I don't know. We were letting Shenzi sleep out of her crate and on her pillow that's on the floor of our bedroom. She was fine for a few weeks, then, bam, 2 days in a row poop and pee on the bedroom floor. We had the bedroom door shut, but normally, she would come and try to wake us up or scratch on the door. Those 2 times, nothing, just us waking up to the aroma of poop.

She's now crated again at night, because the last thing I want to do in the morning while getting ready for work is clean that up.

She does like her crate better now, since I made her 2 nice big pillows to sleep on...she's been waking me up at night again, though, so maybe the comfy novelty of those pillows have worn off...ah well, it was nice while it lasted...

Who knows then... maybe he's mad. It's weird because he DOES hang out in the living room. All of his toys are in there, and from time to time when he gets "bored" with hanging out with us in the family room, he goes up to the living room to nap. Who knows.

I have the same problem with one of my dogs. He only does it after he has gotten in trouble, or if he wants to go with us and we do not take him. I sometimes wonder does he just say in his little doggie mind, well I will just show them now!! Let' s see if they like coming home to this.

Have you changed his food at all, or what time you feed him?

This can also be caused by anxiety, and some weird things can cause anxiety in dogs. Ours did this a couple of days when we put the Christmas tree up. Apparantly the change in the room was too much for him to handle.
