Weird dining workaround?

I decided to join my dad and sister for their Disney trip for a few days after they booked their reservations and FPs. I'm hoping to get FPs matching theirs so that shouldn't be too much of an issue. However, we ended up having to switch around dining reservations. One in particular for CG had to be moved to 5:05 which sort of messes with our overall plans. I was wondering if we could make 2 reservations, 1 for me for one person, and one for them for 2 people, at the same time (as exact times are available now) then when we get there just merge the two ressies?

I realize this is a weird sneaky workaround as there are no reservations available for 3 people at those times, but I'm wondering if anyone's done anything like this? I know they book reservations as they are for a reason and to suit the restaurant and servers so I just wanted to put out feelers. Any thoughts?

You can asked to be seated together but there is no guarantee

you can ask but may not happen since they will have two 2 tops set aside for the reservations and you will need a 4 top instead.

1) Be aware, that CG has many 2-person tables (aka, "deuce").
2) They could be seated at one and you could be seated at another.
3) There may not be 4-tops so you could all sit together.
4) CG gets booked heavily, so if 4-tops are all booked, you would be out of luck.
5) Your tables might not even be close to one another.
