Weird book problem--Do you own Steel Trapp by Ridley Pearson?

My dd checked Steel Trapp by Ridley Pearson (the Kingdom Keepers author) out of the library. The book is fine until page 219. From pages 219 until pages 251, the pages are completely blank, leaving out a big chunk of the story!

I'm wondering if our one copy of the book is a fluke, or if this glitch has happened to other copies. We're going to show the librarian the blank pages when we return the book. I don't want another kid to get to page 218 and then have to stop reading.

My mom got a book out of the library once with a whole chunk of pages missing. As in, it jumped from say page 200 to page 250. There were no pages torn out of the book, and the binding was fine, it was just like that book somehow did not get a group of pages.

It happens every once in a while. PLEASE tell the library when you turn in the book. DD had the same thing happen once (and I was a librarian there) and I know how frustrating it is for the kids waiting to find out what happens. Anyway, in the book DD had it happen in, no one had told us and it had been checked out over 20 times! We had three books that we found out about like that when I worked there and all three had pretty long check out histories in which no one informed us so that we could get the book replaced. I always felt so bad for all the people that ended up with the same frustrations.

I have also seen a few books where the same 20-30 pages gets repeated twice.

ETA: We will tell the librarian about the blank pages. This book has been on the shelf since 3/2009, which means no one turned it in yet.

Which is why the library does not know until a patron tells them. I did notice the issue seemed to only pop up more in newer books that hey are trying to print a lot of quickly--which I guess makes sense.
