Weird AP Question- Can I do this?

So we are going to Disney over spring break, and I bought park hoppers from UT. We were thinking of upgrading them once we are there to annual passes. We bought DVC in January so I know we are now able to buy the DVC gold pass. I can bridge these tickets into a Gold Pass right? If I used the tickets during a blackout time, can I still do this, or am I going to need to buy a platinum pass since I used the tickets during a blackout time? The last day of our trip is not a blacked out Gold pass day.

Weird I would have guessed it was similar to the Water Park rule. For instance if you bought a Park Hopper Plus and use one of the water park entitlements you could no longer upgrade to an Annual Pass without Water Park access.

I would have thought the same thing but Robo is the go-to guy when it comes to tickets. If he said it, then I believe it.

I guess that’s a loophole that Disney hasn’t closed yet. You could buy a 10-day pass, visit beginning the day after Christmas and then upgrade to Gold on Jan. 4.

You are absolutely right MouseSavers says the exact same thing, I just never read that part of their post but it is absolutely there. It makes the Gold Pass a bit more valuable for DVC if planned properly like you said. Though the OP would have to be careful not to use any "Plus" features (if they buy a Park Hopper Plus) or they wouldn't be able to upgrade to Gold.
